  1. Uvira. The same coating on the light that the dentist uses. My reflectors will hurt your eyes if you look directly were the bulb goes.... in the sunlight.

Bite the bullet. get the reflectors nickel plated and call 1 541 474 5050. Bill is a very interesting guy. I had a great time talking to him. He once or twice, circum navigated the US in a Model A Ford. The coating process he does is very reasonable.

  2. A few years ago a Highway Patrolman was 30 miles off shore fishing.

    He found a very large

bale of cocaine floating in the ocean. He called the Coast Guard.

Some one asked what I would do.

I said.... First thing I would do is throw the anchor and think long and hard.

    I'm with 09CHADWICK.

The truck is a creation and a work of art, Folk Art, from a period of time I hope we never see repeated.

I would put it some where and think long and hard about destroying it or parting it.

If I were able I would make you an offer on it and make it a parade piece.

And sadly, people are now duplicating the look of your truck from perfectly restorable automobiles.

    My 2 cents.

    Merry Christmas.

  3. Had to post this. Hope "General" is the OK spot.

My wife and I just ordered a 2015 Mini Cooper S convertible, with the High Gate package, plus many other options. Her car and my fun. When we got married she was driving an '81 MGB convertable. I was driving a 1979 Datsun 280 ZXR. Gone but not forgotten. I have been after her to get a car that would put "FUN" back into her life.

I did all kinds of research on Mini, since they are made by BMW. I swore to myself , that we will never own a "European" automobile. (Not reliable and expensive to work on). Reviews on Mini Coopers are quite impressive. And here I am....

If you have never driven a Mini Cooper S, you need to. Switch on the power button on an entry ramp.

So excited. Probably more than my wife.

What do you think. Be honest with comments.

  4. I was a day late and a dollar short one time, and about 8 similar trucks and cars were rolled into a pile by a bulldozer before my Dad and I could contact the owner.

It looked like the vehicles were parked along side of a road, and the weeds and brier bushes took over. The vehicles were complete from hubcaps to un broken windows.

One of my sickening stories of what used to be done to "junk cars and trucks".

  5. The sills are like new.

They run 4/5 ths of the way down both sides of the body.

Truly a work of art for 1930.

    I'll get pictures.

If you had the wood and all the equipment, duplicating the sills would take a day, easy, for an amateur wood worker.

A CNC machine would be the ticket.

  6. I'm about to finish up on the task of cleaning the underside of my '30 Chrysler CJ body underside.

I have removed the wooden "slabs", as I call them, that the body sits on... On top of the frame.

What kind of oil or preservative should I apply to the ash, maple, or whatever the wood is, to insure the wood lasts another 80 years.

The two timbers are almost "as new" and I'll only get this chance once. I don't want to paint them. I really don't want to seal them but find something that will soak in and preserve the wood.

    Linseed oil?

I need advice from someone who has been down this road before.

Its a shame that someone doesn't duplicate these timbers. I'm sure that they will fit many Chrysler, Plymouth, Dodge and Desoto sedans and shortened, possibly a coup or two.
