Nice start for a project!
I have a 20" wheel I would be willing to trade for a 21". After Christmas I will PM you and see if you are interested!

What A great discovery!
Thanks for posting this photo.

The transmission makes a godaweful noise! I'm am $14k into this car. It is probably worth $9k if that. Not sure I want to have the transmission rebuilt......think I may sell it.
It still needs new kingpins, stripped and painted, rewiring, headliner, door panels, rear bumper stripped and pc.....and a few other things such as brakes cleaned and adjusted.
Anyone need a project? This money pit can be yours for $11k. I may list on CL for $12....and hope to get $10.
The worst is over Rogillio........... Throw it in the back of the garage, close the door, and get away from it for awhile. After the holidays go out to the garage and fix the trans............
Keep the faith!

Bill is right. Not a 26. The engine is a 1926/early 27 though. Frame is a 1927. The dash has a 26-27 speedo and a 24 light/ignition switch. Car is a 24 or 25. The tail light bracket is 1927. The spare tire mount (rusty one) is for a 24-27 disc wheel touring car. The other bracket attached to the car might be correct, but looks like a longer one for the 24" wheels. This car has what looks like 20" (1925). Looks like a pieced together car.
Dave
Wait a minute... Are you talking about the car in my avatar Dave??????????? (LOL)
Glad to see you're still on this side of the grass!
-
That's not a 1926. Different trunk lid and only 2 door hinges. Looks like a 1925.
-
You might be able to talk the seller out of the trunk lid!
Good luck!

You have already done a much better job of storing your "spare gears" than I have!
Might I suggest finding a lubricant that is designed to coat and protect metals from rust over long periods of time and use that as a storage oil for your gears? It will probably have a waxy sort of feel once applied.
I believe the product you are referring to is Cosmoline. Comes in a spray or in a gallon can.

Ray,
Not knowing your car number I see that engines after A875-380 used timing chains. You stated when using a timing light the mark was not steady. This is an indication of a loose timing chain at an idle. Just another 2 cents in the pile of advice!

I don't even have any kids to leave my fortune to and from what Iv'e seen of the current crop, they don't amount to much anyway.quote]
Keep the faith Ray! I believe the young ones coming up will change the damage done the last 30 years. I'm beginning to see a slight change already. All you hear about are the slugs. The good ones don't make the news.
P.S. I would be happy to be an heir! My plan is to live to be 100 and shot by a jealous husband......

If it was all about money I think most of us would be collecting box tops.......
I already unloaded two cars at a loss.
I expect the other five will go the same way but I'm having more fun with them than I could buy anyway so........
Amen Brother!
I stopped saving receipts at the turn of the century. Too depressing. Now I'm having fun spending my kids inheritance.

You might get lucky and not have to buy pistons. When your engine builder measures the bore of the block your pistons might be in range. Then all you need are the rings.
Chrome top rings were mentioned in an earlier post but be advised that a chrome ring is harder than your block. I always prefer an aggressive cross hone with cast iron rings. Builders choice I guess.
If your builder finds bad parts make him show you whats wrong and why!
Good luck!

Looks good from my house......

Don't take me the wrong way! I was giving you compliments! Compared to the other work you did (On both Coupes)the water pump is a "Piece Of Cake".
Love your work!
-
You just finished painting your Coupe, rebuilding your floorboards, restoring all 4 wheels, converting the electrical from 6v to 12v, and your worried about a small water pump?????
Piece of cake..........
-
Incidentally, have you heard anything from 1930? I wonder if he ever reads these threads. Times are certainly quieter without his vociferous input!
Ray.
Jason would have been all over this! I miss his rants......

I realized the scale on one is 0-20 and the other is 0-12 so much more deflection in the smaller scale....but they both work. PM me your address and I will mail the ammeter.,
The 20 amp ammeter is for 1926 & 1927 only with 6 volt. Better hang on to it as they are very elusive to find. The 12 amp is for the 12 volt systems.
-
It probably doesn't matter if 1/4" is used. All I'm stating is what is referenced in the parts book. The glass you're measuring could have been changed in the last 90 years.
-
The parts book lists the glass at 7/32" thick.
-
Show off........
LOL

I don't know Jack. I think old cars just follow him around........

Nice work but I will be able to drink Beer while my pieces are being machined! It's nice to be lazy!

Unbelievable!
The question was posted at 9:25am. John posted the answer, with the correct photo, at 10:31am.
John I hope your hard drive, with all your categorized photos, are back up on the cloud!
I can't figure how you can do it so fast unless you have a directory of "Dash Photos" or some equivalent.
You have my utmost respect...........
