  1. My first ride home, in December of 1959, was in a 57 Roadmaster 75 4 door hardtop. It was two-tone reddish brown and white. My parents bought the car in the summer of 1959 just before they migrated from Alabama to California. The Roadmaster was fully loaded, including factory A/C. A few years later, in 1962, it was traded on a 61 Electra 225 4 door hardtop, jet black with grey cloth interior. Going to the dealership (John A Wise Oldsmobile in Oakland, CA) is one of my first memories. They had an indoor showroom for used cars, and I remember being fascinated by the power window switches and other accessories. The 225 was replaced by a 65 Sportwagon in 1968. Fond memories of the 225 led me to seek one out for restoration...hope to have it on the road by the summer of 2010.
  2. Can you give more info on the interior condition such as rips/tears/worn spots, accessories that work/don't work, etc. Also, what major mechanical work has been done? Oil consumption & leaks?
  3. You might want to check with Todd at Opels Unlimited out in Southern California. Contact information is available on the web. He might take a day or two to answer your call, but he will get back to you and he is quite knowledgeable on all things Opel.
  4. Jason, Thanks for this additional info. I wondered if the dash pad and glove box insert needed to come out. I will give it another try over the weekend. I'll be back in touch. _____________ Mike Poe Silver Spring, MD 67 Riviera 61 Electra 225 (4 Dr hdtp)
  5. Thanks, Kevin. I'll give that a try.
  6. Is anyone familiar with the process for removing and replacing the factory radio in a 67 Riviera? I am replacing the factory AM unit with a factory AM/FM unit, but can't seem to figure out how to remove the existing unit. I've removed the on/off and tuning knobs as well as the nuts holding the unit in place, but its not clear how to get it out of the dash. Any thoughts?
  7. I used material from SMS to redo the white vinyl top and aqua vinyl front bucket seats for my 67 Riviera. I have been very pleased with the quality of their product. They also recovered the door panels for my 61 Electra 225, and I was pleased with the job they did.
  8. Jason, Not to begin the barrage of questions you're bound to receive, but are you interested in selling the cornering lamp units - I'm assuming they'll easily fit onto a 67??
  9. Hi Ron, I'm interested in the radio antenna mounted on the left front fender. Is it a power antenna? Thanks, Mike
  10. Steve, I'm interested in your parts list. I'm restoring an Electra 225 6 window Riviera hardtop. Email address is mikepoe59@comcast.net. Thanks, Mike
  11. Hi Dave, I'm still interested, and will pay your asking price. Could you email me at mikepoe59@comcast.net so we could figure out how to proceed? Thanks, Mike
  12. I am very interested in the radiator cap but will not be at Hershey. My Dad has a 31 Pontiac coupe that he'd like to restore one day, and I know the feathers are broken off of the back of the cap. How firm are you on your asking price?
  13. If the car is still around, does it have 4-way power seats and if so, do you still have the control switch that mounts in the door panel?
  14. Your 225 convertible looks great. I'm close to finishing restoration on a 61 225 6 window hardtop, so I'm not in a position to consider purchasing your convertible, but would like to pick your brain on some of the finer points of restoring the 61 full size Buicks. It looks like you have a fair amount of experience with the 61s, and are also selling a 61 LeSabre wagon parts car; are you interested in selling parts, or only the entire vehicle? If you would consider selling parts, in what condition is your mirrormagic instrument cluster? Alternatively, do you have any thoughts on how to repair or locate replacement pieces for the lightbulb sockets for the instrument cluster or the lenses for the various interior courtesy lights?
  15. I'm almost finished restoring a 61 225 Riviera (6 window) hardtop, and am looking for a couple of obscure parts. First, I need a set of the light sockets (and bulbs) for the mirrormatic instrument panel. Many of my sockets have dried out such that they won't stay attached to the underside of the mirrormatic panel. Second, I'm looking for a left-front turn signal assembly, including the wiring (mounts in bumper). Finally, any thoughts on who might have the roof rail rubber for this body style?...most of the usual sources don't make a set for the 6 window hardtop. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
