  4. Just got my car back from the detailer. Also wanted to show what the console looked like using a led light from AutoZone. Also wanted to show the cupholder I installed[from a Dodge Omni]. Also I was following a red Reatta in Green Bay, Wi. license #LJY. Who are you?
  5. I also, by the way, recently replaced my thermostat with either a 185 or 195 super stat thermostat. Is that o.k,? OOPS! I feel like a dummy. Read my service manual and saw that there are 2 fans, one on each side of radiator. Still wonder why everyone talks about a 180 degree thermostat when the service manual calls for a 195. Also any answer on the 13.9 to 15.2 voltage swing on my volt gauge?
  6. Sorry I have 1 fan. The fan shroud measures 20" wide and 18" high. Am I the only one with this setup?
  7. Now you guys have got me paranoid. I drove my car to see what mine would do. Water temp got as high as 206,low of 193, only I had mine set at economy. High today of 50 degrees. When I got home fan was not running. When I switched it on a/c, then fan ran. However I only have ONE FAN on my '89. Is that correct? Also my volt gauge read as high as 15.4 volts with a low of 13.8 volts. Is this range also normal? Thanks for easing my now troubled soul.

I am learning so much from you guys. But if I may let me pass this on to you. I am building a library of everything I think that will pertain to a future problem that I probably will have and advise you to do the same. The brake issue is handled well in the FAQ's section of this website, but if I am working on something and need an immediate answer too, I hope that i will already have it on file. Keep in mind I have a service manual for my car as well as a certified mechanic for a friend. Thanks and keep asking questions!
  9. I use Autotrader. I live in Wisconsin and have bought my last 3 cars thru them. '93 Roadmaster, '90 Miatta both from Arizona, and my latest[hopefully greatest] purchase, '89 Reatta from Florida. I think internet buying is the greatest as you can look for the one car you want, with the options you want, w/o driving all over the place looking at just 1 car at a time. I looked off and on for over a year before buying my Reatta.
  10. Try Jim Finn he probably has it.
  11. Roger, Roger [i always wanted to say that]
  12. Thanks for confirming what I thought. Tommy has spent the time and worked out what seems to be the best way going. I checked out the FM modulater and don't like the idea of wires hanging all over. When it gets done it, should look professional. Thanks Tommy!
  13. The last thing on my '89 [besides the lumbar support bag, but that I can handle],that doesn't work is the cassette deck. When I go to the touch screen and press eject or play[don't think there is a tape in the unit], nothing happens. Any ideas? I have considered doing what Tommy and F-14 have done by bypassing the cassette and using a portable CD player or MP3 player, but I don't "get" how they did it. Technology has passed me by. Thanks again for your help as always!
  14. This may be a stupid question, but did you replace the fuel injector seals? If they don't seal first start in the morning is very hard. If you did, maybe try again as the rail goes in hard and you might have torn one or more.
  15. I am a new owner/member to Reattas. I purchased my car 12/20/06. The car is a great car, very comfortable. It had a 4 year manufacture life, of which less then 23,000 cars were made. If it were not for this forum I would say owning this car would not be advisable. Every question I have had, has been addressed, with easy "how to" answers. My hats off to the members of this forum, they're great.
  16. I replaced my shift lights using aftermarket lights, [see my post " console lights back on using aftermarket lights"] as I didn't think that replacements were available. The reason I am reposting is that Tommy H. has taken his apart and the pictures are in this post. This seems to be a common problem and I am offering a simple "factory look" alternative.
  17. If you are looking to fix your car, there is a salvage yard that has all the parts you need for your car [and in red]. Their phone #1-920-206-2960. They are about 20 miles west of Milwaukee. I found them on www.car-part.com If you like the car, why don't you try this route?

  19. Filled out my form to be a BCA member. How do I become a Reatta member?
  20. I called Pilot the manufactuer of the CZ-181B Flexi-lite and asked them if they have a shorter one available. They have a 10" that is available by special order. That stock number is CZ-180B. This product line is available at NAPA,PEP BOYS,KRAGEN,and AUTOZONE. I will take and post pictures as time/weather allows. Cold snap coming to Wi. and my garage, the car is stored in, is not heated.
  21. My wife and daughter is the photogragher in our family, however if you go to TommyH post "shifter plate" dated 1/31/2007 you will get the jist of what we did. Just look at his first 2 pictures and you will see that the illuminated panel has to come out. Tommy actually went and took out everything so his way would actually be easier to do. One thing I did not post before is that the light is longer then the shifter bar [which is why we cut 2 holes on either end]. This causes absoultly no problems as there is plenty of room in the shifter box for the ends to hang over.
  22. Tommy, Please go to my post on how I fixed my dash lights with after market products. You have great pictures on the unit disassembled. If you could do an attachment I think the other guys could see how easy this could be. Thanks!
  23. I didn't think there were any console light assemblies left out there as well as console inverters, so I went for a walk thru various auto stores. At AutoZone I found what I was looking for, a blue led flexlite. It is from PILOT AUTOMOTIVE part #CZ181B. What we did was this; took the shifter knob off, then the top panel that houses the light bar,Removed the 3 screws that hold the light panel in. We carefully removed the top black shift indictor sheet. Then removed the center light bar [that was the illumination, mine was all cracked]. We carefully cut 2 slots on either end of the plastic housing so as to slide the FLEX-LITE in[you will need 2 packages]. Then reinstalled the top black sheet. We then wired it into an ignition circuit. This will eliminate using the inverter[and all those problems]. The illumination is great, looks like factory, only disadvantage I can see is that you don't have the ring around the gear the car is in, but hey I didn't have that before so I didn't lose anything. My light will not show thru the black only thru the parts "cut out" for the original lights to shine thru. Each package will cost you $19.95 each[once again you will need 2].Cut off the battery test button and batteries, and wire in.
  24. And fix that accumulator. When you go there Tommy, ask what they want for the front license plate bracket. I need one. I think I want to be street legal.
  25. Yesterday my mechanic friend started in on the car. Our original intent was to replace intake manifold gasket and thermostat as well as the dash lights. 6 hours later we started putting car back together, having done afore mentioned manifold gasket, and thermostat. Additional work found was water pump, 2 heater hoses,Themostat housing, as it was like "welded" into manifold. At any rate after the heavy work done,we replaced both the wiper bank of switches as well as the electric eye. Everything lit up including the reverse light on the shifter. Joy was short lived as the reverse light went out never return after several restarts of car. Wed. night we will try a new assult on the console to repair the console lights. I was at AutoZone and they have a string light thingy for $15.00. I want to try that in the console. If it works I will post pictures.
