  1. Nic Previously looked for the discount but unable to locate it. It may have been in a magazine or something similar. I purchased the 3 issues for $40.00. Jerry
  2. "Cars That Matter" is the newest pricing guide on the market. About the size of a NADA book but thicker. The 90 Reatta coupe's value is listed as follows. Use it to make a case for value with the insurance adjuster. Catagory: 4. $2,500 3. $5,000 2. $7,400 1. $9,800 Most Reattas in well cared for condition would fall into Cat 3 or 2. Cat 4 is junk and cat 1 is concours. These valus are based on actual sales. Jerry

    Reatta pricing

Kelly Blue Book, NADA, Blacks Cars of Particular Interest,Cars that matter, or any of the other auto guides are just that. A guide based on a set of "Known Facts" My 90 vert is not listed in NADA in their classic book but is shown in their regular book at 8K. Mine is (what I consider)a very clean vehicle, and a 2007 BCA Silver Award winner. (Missed Gold by 1 point, and all my deductions were for minor engine compartment items which for the most part have been corrected, like wrong hose clamps, wrong oil filler cap, plug wires routed in the wrong direction Etc. No deductions for body or interior. The point is that it cannot, and is not (at least not yet) measured by the NADA or Kelly standards. (If the glove does not fit.... Etc) I therefor have to go to a different standard or another guide that does fit in order to determine value by my standards and goals. My goal having owned my first Reatta vert in 1993 is to maintain the integerity of what I believe is one of the most reasonably priced collectable cars available on the market today. I realize there are many others who have Reattas for many different reasons and thats OK too. But for us who want to maintain ours in the collectable arena know that we will have to put money into maintaining that standard. Thus, our guidance as to collectability and value is to a different standard. In the end it is the buyer who will determine all of our cars value. Jerry in Tacoma.

    Reatta pricing

I'm waiting for the book to arrive as I type. Their web site says all prices are based on actual sales and trends. and that their goal is to be the number one authority. If they can accomplish that they have a good thing going for all of us. When I receive the book I'll contact them and see how they gather their info and how timely it is.Don't know how they will answer if at all. A lot of that stuff is close hold. Their car class descriptions (1 to 4) seem to compare with others I've seen. When you grade on a bell curve each of the highs and lows should be thrown out. anyway it should be interisting. The trick is to properly grade your own car as to it's proper catagory (many want to bump their's up a grade) and find the buyer/seller who feels the same.
  5. Are the coupe and convertible windshields the same and interchangable?

    Different 'ride'

I agree, I have followed the instructions to the letter and they don't work for me either. We are not the only ones. I have tried to resolve this but the webmaster isn't responding to us.

    Tape Jam

I had my tape deck fixed (Original Eqp) several months ago.Cost 129.00. 30 day guarantee only. Two weeks ago I finaly got my nerve up to put my first tape in it and guess what, The damm thing stuck. I pressed eject and every other button more than a hundred times one afternoon with no luck. The next day I went back and did it again and the tape ejected after about 10 pushes. So much for doing the same thing over and expecting different results. Go figure. No more tapes will go in. CD's only Good luck
  8. Jim Are you willing to sell one or two for the right side? If so e-mail me with the particulars. Jerry frogsday@msn.com
  9. Does anyone know if the gaskets for the outside mirrors is still available and if so where? Jerry
  10. Welcome Charles to the rather small but exclusive fraternity of Buick Reatta owners. As all of us were new at one tome or another I think you will find this forum a great source of information from general Reatta information and History to Technical repair and restoration. Many of the members are experts in their own field and am sure they can be of service whether your looking to repair a headlight ir trace down an electrical problem. Barney Eaton is the Reatta techinical advisor,Jin Finn keeps many of us in parts. Young Tommy is very good with diagnostics. I could go on and on about all of these fine folks but if you stay tuned you will soon find out as I have that you are among the best in the Reatta world, Again Welcome from Washington State Jerry Vaughan,

We would be interested if you would post how you did it and how it turned out
  12. I would be suprised if any mechanic would be qualified to inspect every car out there anymore. I would suggest that you try to get it to a qualified dealer of the brand you are buying. I recall several years ago when my daughter found a nice little honda coup she really liked. As I was paying for it I insisted she have it inspected by a Honda dealer. Beside the frame being bent and rewelded they found several other things that I think only a Honda mechanic would have found. You can find a lot og things when you have the capability to put it on a lift. a $70 or 80 dollar inspection by a dealer can save you a lot of headaches.
  13. I have changed out my 1990 magnovox and delco several times now. To the best of my knowledge I believe that all the Reatta metal base plates will accomidate both of these coil packs as long as the three holes line up even though the delco is longer.
  14. A guy who looked at it 2 weeks ago came back and gave him 9K for it when he was asking 10.
  15. Help, Cannot contact webmaster. I advertised a Reatta for sale. It has now sold. How do I delete the buy/sell post?
  16. Can't help in removing the street paint but was able to remove some black overspray canned paint from my red reatta about a week later with some Meguiar's scratch X. You may also be able to persue a claim with the city or who-ever did the painting. I once persued a paint claim against against the US Government in the 70's and got my new volvo completely repainted. You would have to prove they were ir-responsible. Good Luck

  19. Thanks again guys. I put the belt back on and the whine has receded grately. Don't know what it was but the alternator seems to be charging fine. Took it for a test drive. (A little cowel shake at 110 mph but thata all) Only kidding. Seems OK so far. Wonder if the belt may have been off track a bit. My daughter is an RN at St Joseph hospital here, She is bringing her stethoscope over tommorow. Hopefully I can narrow it down more then.
  20. Thanx Guy's I disconnected the serpentine belt, ran the engine for about 15 seconds and did not get the high pitch sound. Is there any way that I could have the belt too tight and is there an adjustment for the tensioner (or other things on the belt such as PS,AC etc:) on the belt. Thanx
  21. Just had that happen last week for about the 10th time. Wanted to buy the 91 Reatta coupe with 29K miles I have advertised on Buy/Sell for a friend. I knew before-hand it was a scam but we went back and forth as I was trying to find out their identity. This one conversation originated from different e-mail adderesses each time they replied. I go thru this about 3 times a year with scamers who want to rent a rental I have. Kiss them and tell you to send CASH. They'll go away fast. Is their spelling and grammer bad too?
  22. Lately I'm getting a subtle high pitch "Wherring" sound in my engine compartment. Under the hood it sounds like it is coming from the timing belt area. It increases and decreases when I step on the gas feed and /or let up on it. It dosn't seem to effect the engine operation,Electrical or anything else that I can determine. Any suggestions as to
