  1. I have seen that many people have their cars delivered to the shows. Having spent all my money on my car, I have none left for a good truck and trailer! Who are the most reliable transportation companies and in general how expensive is it. Since I only take my car to one or two shows that are too far to drive, it might be cheaper than having the traailer. I see several companies listed in Hemmings. Any recommendations?
  2. There is another post about diecast here; but the topic involves reproducing damaged parts with new molds. My interest is just for replating and pitting repair. I have a console top for an early Nova that has a textured chrome center section with smooth chrome around the edges. The edge area has pitted quite a bit and needs repair. Every console I have seen redone changes the center texture to smooth or is painted and this changes the complete appearance of the console. Any recommendations on the best diecast replating services?
  3. Same question! I think you must decide what you want. As a guy who stayed with the 6 in my 65 Nova SS, it depends on what you plan to do with the car. Mine is basically for show, so having a V-8 isn't a big deal; but many people thumb their noses at a lowly 6. This was my first true restoration and I felt like going all the way! With all the muscle cars out there and beautiful tri5's the 6's don't get too many nods. If you plan to cruise and drive this a lot, the V-8 is probably the better choice. If you want to be a purist, say with the 6.
  4. Important to decide what the car is to be! A street driver, show car or in the extreme a trailer queen. The money goes up significanlty with each of those decisions. it also goes up the rarer the car is. The one of a kind cars are great but if you don't buy it complete, getting parts is very expensive. I just restored a 65 Nova SS with you would think is an easy car to do. Mine is close to the trailer queen type and I easily have 3 times what the cars is worth in it. An older chevy with harder to find parts could add up very fast. Last thing is how much work you will do yourself. I had a shop do my body work and that was quite expensive. Not as expensive if you can do it all yourself. All you have to do is buy all the tools!
  5. Depends what she needs. Most items are available from Chey2only or J&W Nova. Nation Nolstalgic Nova also supplies a lot of parts, new and used. You can find all of them on web pages. if you are doing a restoration I recommend the NNNova.com site.

  7. Real61SS, I am guessing the red/orange 61 Impala SS in Asheville was yours. That thing was gorgeous. Love those cars and the 61's are truely rare. Great to see a really nice one again!
  8. Great Meet in Ashville. The first AACA meet I have attended. I got a First Junior with my 65 Nova SS. Really nice to have the expert judges looking at the cars. Novaman, I didn't see another Nova at the show; but I guess I didn't get to see all the vehicles. We never made it up to the A fields. The late storm cut the day a little short. I haven't seen so many beautiful cars in one place in a long time! Wish I had more time to look around.
