  1. I want to replace the front brakes on my 1955 chevy from drums to disc. Can anyone tell me what year chevy disc brakes would fit.
  2. Hi Chevy six. The skirts have a rubber gasket around the top. There's no slot in them but there is one one the skirts. Should there be a slot in the rubber gasket for the clamp or does the clamp go under the gasket? Thanks Pat
  3. Thanks Chevy six: I've been going crazy trying to get them on. Pat
  4. I'm putting a stock 350 into my 1955 chevy. Would the radiator for the 6 cylinder (which is in the vehicle) be sufficent to cool the 350 or would I have to change to a bigger radiator? Thanks Pat
  5. I have a 1955 chevy with fender skirts. I removed one from the right side and although I see how they are supposed to be istalled (looking at the left side which wasn't removed) I can't seem to get the skirt back on. I have no problem with the center latch but cannot get the smaller clamps to hold the bottom of the skirt. Is there any special way to get them to hold?
  6. Hi Mick: I saw your response to Paul about useing Rust-oleum Red Primer #2067 for the undercoating of the body. So you are saying that the frame and suspension is semi gloss black 7777 and the underbody is 2067. Is that right? Would that include the 2067 for under fenders. Thanks Pat
  7. thanks mick. What about the engine compartment are the fender walls suppose to be the same or a high gloss black? Thanks Pat
  8. Anyone know of a good paint to undercoat my 1955 chevy bel air? I would like to know if the paint was black and if it was a flat or gloss finish. Thanks Pat
  9. Hi: I got a problem. Would like some feed back on the following question. I have a 1955 Bel Aire 4-door sedan with the 6cyl. 235 engine. I wanted to change the engine for a chev 350 but was wondering if this would effect the selling price of the car. A few people told me that the car would be worth more with the original six. What do you think. Thanks Pat
  10. Hi: I have a 1978 chevy 350 truck engine that I'm thinking of putting in my 1955 chevy 6cyl. Can anyone tell me if there would be any particular problems doing this? I'm going to use the powerglide tranny that's now in the car. thanks pat
  11. thanks ronvb. would the powerglide mount up to the 78 flywheel? thanks pat
  12. Would anyone know if a 1978 chevy 350 would bolt up to a 1955 chevy powerglide tranny?
  13. Thanks for the info novaman. Pat
  14. Hi I just purchased a 1955 chevy and it has the 6cyl engine. I'm trying to find out if the engine is orignal. There's an alternater on it instead of a generator. Can anyone tell me where to find the engine # and how to determine, from the number what engine this may be? Also I,m thinking, I may pull the 6 out and replace it with a V8. Can anyone tell me which engine will go in without major problems? The car will only be used on the street, no racing. Someone told me the best installation would be a 350 with a turbo trans. Any suggestions. Thanks Pat
