  1. Still looks GM to me. Dodge lite trucks of that era had rectangular gauges in a row. The font on the Odo is GM
  2. I think 1934. 1935s had a different grille.
  3. Are you sure is a Chrysler logo? Looks GM to me. Chrysler mostly used a bar in indicate normal range on the temp gauges.
  4. Blue car 1949-50 Chevrolet. Grille pic 1954 Desoto Yellow and white car 1955 Olds
  5. Mine was just called Frazer sedan. It does have the higher end Manhattan interior of 1949-1950 which all the 1951 sedans did. Mark
  6. Here is a pic of me and my 1951 Frazer.
  7. As I recall the engine had to be removed, as least that s the way our mechanics did it. Any Cad dealer should be able to do it.
  8. George I used to work at a Cadillac dealership. We did what was called "block split" on the Northstar motors. Basically most of the whole motor was taken apart and all seals were replaced, there are many more seals and gaskets than you replaced. This often happened at 50-60K or less and our shop was backed up with these jobs. Mark
  9. I always felt the power brake on my 1951 Suburban required to much pressure. I had the unit rebuilt a number of years ago and no difference. This united was used on other chrysler product 8 passanger sedans. Any ideas?

    How many ?

According to the Crestline publication 35,937 Plaza wagons were built. My mom had a 1953 version in the 1960's.
  12. I read that last year more Buicks were sold in China than the US. To many years of offering us mediocre cars, lackluster styling, customer spending too much time in the service dept. Don"t feel a bit sorry for GM.
  13. Having worked at a Buick dealer in 1979 to 1981 I have to say this was a low point for Buick as well as all GM. Shoddy paint, metallics would fade and dull after a year in the sun, of mismatched panels ( front fenders were painted separate in some of the car lines), bad motors ( mainly the V6), bad transmissions not to mention the Diesel! GM deserved to loose nearly half of their market share palming of the junk on us. Do't know that things are much better now, after a stint at Cad the Northstar motor would often suffer major oil leaks at around 50K requiring a near tear down to fix. This the same motor used in the V8 Buicks. I will never by GM again!
  14. Have you checked the fan clutch? If you are having heating problems in heavy traffic this could be it.
  15. Here is a pic of my 1951 Frazer sedan. All original with 42K miles. Mark

  17. He are some bigger pics of my 1951 Frazer sedan. All original with 43K miles. the green sticker you see in the window is a Colorado state inpection sticker from 1962. Also has two lub stickers from the mid 1950s. Mark <a href="http://photobucket....amp;gt;web page
  18. Here is a pics of me and my 1951 Desoto Suburban taken at Doheny beach, CA. It is one of 600 built in 1951-52. All original. Mark photobucket
  19. If its not a terraplane its a late 1930 Willys Mark
  20. People buy Toyotas, Nissans and Honda because of their reliability, longevity and resale value: not because of style, advertising, etc. An appliance maybe, but one that can be counted on. The dwindling market share of GM is testiment to the frustration of consumers dissatisfied with their former purchases. The above Japanese brands will last well above 200K without becoming a money pit. as as former empolyee of a GM dealership our heavy line ( major repair ) department was constantly backed up Northstar oil leaks. To repair, the entire engine had to be dissambled except pistons and crank at about 20 hours labor plus parts. this happens to just about every Northstar usually by about 60K. This year Toyota is expected to sell more cars worldwide than GM for the first time. Imagine how well they would do if all their cars were as pretty. Mark
