My apologies to Grant Z
I did not see his similar post started long before mine
Let’s stick to his post and let this one fizzle out.
Thx- 1

Heck, I’ve done it twice on my 1923 and never charged myself a dime.

For $7 he had to pull the 4 brake levers, pull the rear axle and torque tube down. Pull the transmission. Punch out all the old rivets on the double sided discs. Install new linings and rivets. Reinstall transmission, reinstall rear axle and torque tube and brake levers. Adjust clutch.

Update:
Paul Marr, great grandson of Buick’s first Chief Engineer, Walter Marr, has agreed to bring several of their significant cars including the 1915 Experimental Twin Six Buick to Buicks on the Bricks 2024.
Here’s your chance to join him and others with your early Buick.

Plugged vent in the fuel tank cap will also cause issues
-
Plugged vent line is another good one. Yep.

SW float could have a leak or be stuck
SW internal needle valves at top not seating or little spring broken or linkage broken
Flapper valve leaking
Crack in lid or bad vacuum sealing at lid or joints

If it runs perfectly fine by manually filling the vacuum tank then you must have vacuum when it runs perfectly fine and no holes in the heat riser or it would not run perfectly fine then either.
I think you have an issue with the SW tank.

Fold down ‘B’ pillar from an up series convertible in the mid to late 30s? A guess.

Giving this post a bump while I sit in sunny Florida.
This chap attended last year and gave Buicks on the Bricks 5 Bananas!

I see Amazon has several wireless trailer light kits available. A sharp chap could adapt these along with a 12v small jell battery. Adapt amber led bulbs or lenses for the front.

The topic thread (you can’t access if you choose not to belong to the BrassBuicks site) now has 77 comments. Too many to post here but lots of good questions about the system and answers.
Best if you contact Scott directly with your questions.
Note the prices are still bring established.

Wishing you all the best Buick Brother!
If it’s any consolation, my father had the exact same thing happen to him.

What are your stem clearances?
Think about adding felt washers to the stems.

Never had an over voltage issue. Can’t help.
My expert is Jason Smith who runs Automotive Electrical Rebuilders
He does excellent work on all the early starters/generators/horns/motors

in Buick - Pre War

In addition to the swap field and the car coral there are also the auction tents. Great after dinner evening stroll if you still have anything left in your legs. Well lit. Fun to note some favorites and then look up what they went for at auction once you get home. Always a couple that go for crazy money in a bidding war and always a couple of true bargains.
Can’t stress the good shoes and being in good shape comments enough. A light back pack for your kit and any small things you pick up. An easy day is 5 miles of walking and being on your feet 10 hours. They do rent scooters. I believe this requires an advance registration? Not sure. Someone else may know. Not there yet. Ha.
Some of the scooter drivers are in themselves a hazard. They hit the throttle in a congested area instead of the brake and bash your heel or shin. They ring their bell and expect the sea to part like Moses. Stay clear. One of them can ruin your whole day.
Better put a visit to Chocolate World on your list too. It’s right there. You’ll burn off the calories or at least that’s what I tell myself. Free admission and tour. Other add ons at a cost.
