  1. wix, fram, hastings, all sell filters for your car. your local auto parts store can look up the number. napa has their own brand. i have a 54 windsor and mine is different.you may even be able to get the numbers on line, just google the manufacturer.roberts auto parts or andy bernbaum has them too. the filters are common and easy to get, usually about $8. dennis
  2. the motor is 54 years old.any lube or oil on it has gummed up and it needs cleaning.if the motor has brushes they need cleaning. if you are handy take it apart, clean it, and lightly oil the moving parts. that usually will do it because in your case it works, just turns slow. i am having the same problem with the one on my 54 windsor, but i just haven't had time to take it out. i had that problem with the convertible top motor and disassembly and cleaning solved it. dennis
  3. charles, you probably have a one of a kind car. the a/c option alone makes it rare, more so if it works. i am a 54 chrysler fan and i have never seen one of that year as optioned out as yours. i saw yours on ebay and loved it. i have a 54 windsor convertible, only 500 were made. i think mine is rare as it is completely original including the top. i drive it often and as far as i want. these are good reliable cars.they are not highly collectible so they are still a great value. i am knowledgable on these cars and have some 53 manuals. email me at captden29@peoplepc.com if i can help with anything. dennis
  4. try your local autuo parts as this is an easy part to get. tractor supply stores are another source. try terril machine, 254 893 2610. i dont think t&c were made in canada, but not 100% sure. go on the p-15 d-24 website and post your question on their forum. guaranteed to get the correct info. dennis
  5. power brake exchange in calif rebuilds them, around 250, he may have one to sell. 1 800 322 1775.
  6. i have a 54 windsor sedan all original, running, inspected and driving. for sale at $4500. call if interested, dennis, 631 399 2622, email captden29@peoplepc.com.
  7. make sure the heat riser is free and working properly.
  8. try antique auto parts cellar. they have the heat shields. dennis
  9. when were radials first introduced and used as standard equipment?
  10. was thisw the car on ebay? i wouild have bid myself if i didnt have want i want, my 54 windsor convertible. i used to have a 53 imperial. these are great cars and as far as options the radio and heater were an option in those days as was tinted glass. not sure about the visor, may have been dealer option. also, power accessories were options as was A/C, a very rare option. good luck with the car. dennis
  11. if jeff dreibus reads this i would like more info on the original car certification. i have a 54 chrysler windsor deluxe convertible that is untouched, still has the original top,and it would be nice to get this certification. my email is captden29@peoplepc.com.i think desoto frank should leave his car as original as possible but everyone must decide that on their own.i am a real fan of 54 chryslers, i currently own the conv and a windsor sedan. thanks, dennis
  12. real world value in good driving condition is in the area of $7500.00. these chryslers, in spite of being well made are not very prized yet as collectible cars by alot of people. they appeal to a limited market so they are one of the best bargains around. i own a 1954 windsor convertible that has a high value because it is a convertible, but i also own a 54 windsor sedan that i bought 2 years ago for $3800.00 in original condition and is a good driver. today i would be lucky to get the same $3800 if i sold it. the 331 hemi in the 54 new yorker is not a desirable hemi but it is a great running engine. coupled with the powerflite this is a great driving car, but not known for great speed.its claim to fame is durability and it will run great on long road trips. the biggest pain is the dual point distributor, but with patience you can learn how to set it up properly. just enjoy the car and try not to think of its value but rather the pleasure you will get from driving it. dennis
  13. i lost one of the ends to my wiper arm on my 54 windsor. does anyone have just that piece[ the red button is on this] or an arm--12 inch-- they want to sell? dennis. email captden29@peoplepc.com
  14. speaking of compatible, does anyone know if the emergency brake is the same for a 54 windsor and the 55 and 56 windsors? i believe they all use the same powerflite so the emergency brakes should be identical.
  15. my 54 windsor convertible sat since 1987. when i drive it the needle on the gas guage appears broke, staying all the way left. occasionally it will quickly bounce to full and back again, eventually staying all the way left again. does anyone know if this means it is trying to work and eventually will or perhaps the sending unit needs attention or is it just dead? thanks, dennis
  16. i am looking for wire wheels for my 54 windsor convertible. the car is all original, just a driver so they can have a little rust on them. i am in ny on long island and a inexpensive set of used tires are needed. dennis
  17. i always used hydraulic jack oil in my 51 windsor. it was non-foaming[ very important] and the correct viscosity and available anyhere. dennis
  18. kickdown and anti-stall go on 1 carb only. the carb # is stamped on the top of the carb. it is 4 digit, something like ea-9b. if i looked on mine i could give you the exact #. hey are very common and rebuild kits are about $25 and easily done. i too want to do duals on my 54 weindsor. dennis
  19. good luck with the wagon. heed the advice about the brakes. i, too, have a survivor like yours so all the advice you are getting is of use to me. my car is a 1954 windsor convertible with everything original including the conv. top. i did a complete brake job but now these posts have me worried because i did not change the steel lines.i guess i will do that this spring but i will bet that pre-formed lines are not available for my car.they will be very difficult to fabricate. you can generally find a source for most parts through hemmings, but shop around for a good price. it is always nice to see people who want to keep these cars original,in my opinion that is the way to go. dfennis
  20. trying to solve my overheat on my 54 windsor. where can i find info on capacities of radiators. i would like to swap my radiator for one from a straight 8 car or a v-8 if they would fit and if the capacity is signifigantly more. has anypone on the forum ever done this? dennis 54 windsor sedan/ 54 windsor convertible
