I have had a set of the Harbor Freight version of the Go-Jaks for a LOONG time. I only use them a couple of times a year to move my old cars into and out of their winter parking spaces in my 2 car garage. Both vehicles are in the 2,000-2,500 pound range so they are light. I too move them myself each fall and spring. It is SO nice being able to fit 3 cars in a 2 car garage over the winter. I had a set of traditional dollies before these and they were MUCH MORE work to use having to jack each wheel up/down multiple times.
BTW, my older versions from HF are bigger and beefier than the current version. Same weight rating as mine but they look smaller, cheaper, etc.

True, one has a choice not to own/use a cell phone. No one is forcing anyone to buy one.
Just like no one is forcing anyone to buy a "smart phone". There are a number of cell phone carriers and cell phone makers that build and sell FLIP phones. Many under $100 and some under $50 which is WAY LESS expensive than smart phones costing 10+ Times as much. One again a choice.
One reason why I no longer drive an old car daily is thanks to someone who gave me an early Christmas present (not) last December. I was driving my 20 year old daily driver to work one morning. In a school zone I stopped to let three young, middle school children cross the street in a MARKED crosswalk. Next thing I know I get hit from behind by another vehicle. Thank goodness that idiot did not push me into the children. His airbag went off but I doubt it knocked any sense into him. I have no doubt that his Father-in-Law did knock some sense into him since his Son-ion-Law (the other driver) just totaled the vehicle he had borrowed from him. My vehicle was totaled as well. Thank Goodness no one was hurt.
After this incident I decided to buy a brand new vehicle with a lot of safety features that come standard that my old car didn't have. I figured these features would give me a MUCH better chance to survive my next encounter with another idiot. FYI, this vehicle came with a bunch of OPTIONAL, non safety features that are free for a period of time. After that period of time it is MY CHOICE if I want to continue paying for them on a monthly basis or not. No one will be forcing me to continue to pay for them and I doubt I will keep subscribing to them since many of them have no value to me. BTW, some of the standard safety features have already done their job when it comes to situations I have already faced in the two weeks since I picked up the vehicle. It also doesn't hurt that the new vehicle gets DOUBLE the fuel mileage of the old vehicle and gets way more than DOUBLE the fuel mileage of my 2012 truck. The new vehicle is also longer, wider, taller and heavier than the old vehicle so there is more of it to absorb an impact from another crash that hopefully will not happen.
Moral of the story is to look around and shop around and make choices that best suit your needs and situation.

Terry, really enjoyed your seminar on "The Cars of Scotland". Lots of interesting photos and automotive information. I did not realize that the automotive innovations that you mentioned originated in Scotland.
I have to wonder if drinking Scotch provided any inspiration? 😉

At this point in time range, recharge time, charging infrastructure and cost are the challenges facing Electric Vehicles. In the next few years it will be interesting to see how Tesla's Semi measures up to those challenges using current battery technology. That also might be why the Tesla Semi has been delayed more than once. Several companies are working on Solid State Batteries which are said to measurably improve upon range while drastically cutting recharge time down. If that is actually the case, then we may see this technology in cars, SUVs and even pickups in the next few years (ie 2-3 or so). Time will tell how this plays out.
Interesting to note that here in Eastern Pennsylvania Wawa Convenience stores are adding Tesla charges to their locations including one near my house. I highly doubt that Wawa would not be spending the money on these charging stations if they did not expect to make money from doing so.

A few years ago at the AACA Annual Meeting in Philadelphia there was a session given about decluttering/organizing one's garage, etc. That was one of the most attended seminars that I have every attended. LOTS of good information along with some shocking before & after photos. Hopefully, sometime in the near future this seminar is given again by this individual. From the looks of some of the photos in this thread some of us (myself included) could use it.

Other vehicles that were auctioned at this event include:
A new 2022 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro Hybrid (VIN 002) brings a $550,000 sale price.
An all-new 2022 Toyota Tundra Capstone Hybrid luxury truck (VIN 001) sells for $700,000.
All proceeds from both these auctions went to the Toyota U.S. Paralympics Fund Charity.
I would not be surprised if the buyers of these vehicles had their tax accountants crunch the numbers to determine just how much of a charitable deduction they can take after the value of the truck is subtracted from their winning bid. At least the charity got all the proceeds from both bids.

When I was looking for a house 30+ years ago I decided to have one built. The builder at that time had about a dozen different designs to choose from. I decided on a split level home with a two car garage with two separate doors. This gave me the biggest garage compared to two car garages with a single garage door.
After my house was built I added additional electrical outlets in the garage as well as insulation. I also covered every unfinished wall with pegboard as well as shelves up high. The forced air heat/ac for the bedrooms above the garage runs through the garage so I cut a hole in the duct and put a closable vent in. So I had a climate controlled garage year round for the price of the vent.
From April to November I keep two of my old cars in this garage. From November to April I move them around so I can fit them and what used to be my 20 year old daily driver VW Beetle in there during the winter. When it snowed the Beetle stayed in the garage and I used my 4WD truck with snow tires for work. The plan was to keep driving the Beetle and when it reached 25 years old to put it in HPOF or spruce it up a bit and put it in class judging. Just before Christmas last year a distracted, idiot, driver rear ended me and totaled it. That ended those plans. If things workout the Beetle's modern replacement might just fit in that spot.
I also have two other old vehicles that I keep in a Lock & Store 10'x30' unit. Unfortunately, that facility was sold in the fall of 2020. Since then, the new owner has raised the monthly twice. Once by 15% and less than 12 months later by another 20%. He is planning an expansion to add more units so no doubt the rent increases will only continue. Sadly all the other facilities in the area are about the same price and private rentals from little old ladies are a pipe dream. In the past I have given some thought to buying a 2nd enclosed car trailer and using both trailers to store the cars current in the rental unit. I might have to revisit that idea soon.

Wayne, in the other thread titled "2022 Philadelphia meeting moved to Gettysburg" Steve M answered my question:
"We are so sorry for the hassles for everyone. Volunteers are here today trying to make calls to everyone. This ain't easy folks but sadly was necessary. Yes, you can register day of event. Bill, cocktails are from 530-630 and dinner starts at 6:30. If you are coming in to Philly and can change your ticket to BWI or Harrisburg it puts you only an hour away."

In past years at the Annual Convention one could register on a Friday or Saturday morning when one arrived.
I had done that due to my unpredictable work schedule and unpredictable Philadelphia weather. I usually attended the seminars, judging school and checked out the trade show (I didn't attend the banquet).
I was wondering if people will be able to register like that this year at Gettysburg? I certainly understand if that will not be possible.
Also, many Thanks to all involved with putting on the Annual Convention especially this year with all the last minute challenges and additional work. Your efforts are Greatly Appreciated!

I agree 100% with you f.f.jones. The following is a little more history on the subject.
Back in 2011 Toyota experienced a supply chain disruption after the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear power plant crisis that year. One of the shortages back then was semiconductors. Toyota decided to not face something like that again without a plan to deal with it. Fast forward 10 years later to the supply chain interruption of 2020/21. Toyota pivoted from their just-in-time supply chain philosophy to a hybrid version where they stockpiled critical parts like semiconductors. They did that as soon as their supply chain showed signs of stress. That plan and pivot has helped Toyota to deal with the semiconductor shortage in a manner that has reduced the impact of the current shortage to a degree.
Bottom line is Toyota had a plan to deal with the supply chain shortages when almost all other automakers did not.
FYI, other automakers like VW, BMW, Daimler and yes GM all recently announced they will change their supply chain systems to stockpile more parts and build up reserves. Better late than never I guess. The real question is did these automakers learn from their recent mistakes and put together plans for the next time this happens or will them doom themselves to repeat their mistakes once again by not putting a plan in place for the future. Time will tell. Stay Tuned.

A few Wawa Convenience stores in my area and other parts of Pennsylvania sell Ethanol Free gas which is 89 Octane. They also sell the 87, 89 and 93 Octane Ethanol grades as well. I use the Ethanol free in all my old cars, my lawn mower, gas weed whacker and snow blower. I see a LOT of lawn care companies and even a few people with boats filling up with Ethanol free as well.
Last time I checked, the Ethanol Free gas was 35 cents more per gallon than the 87 Octane with ethanol. At that price, the Ethanol free is about 3 cents/gallon more than the 89 Octane with ethanol.
FYI, for those coming to Fall Hershey, if you see a Wawa and their sign shows a gasoline price in BLUE, that is the Ethanol Free grade of fuel. Just in case you need fuel for your old vehicle and might want to try a tank of Ethanol free.

Peter, I have also received mail on rare occasions that was not stamped with a postmark.
I received my Judges Parking Pass in the mail this week and my SASE was postmarked 5 days before I received it. Usually mail postmarked from Harrisburg, PA gets to me in 2-3 days. Lately that has not been the case.
Regardless, all is good & Fall Hershey beings in a few days!

Based on Sherri's Crab Cake's Facebook page, they have had a VERY BUSY spring, summer & fall this year (including Spring & Fall Carlisle). I think it is probably very safe to believe they will be at Fall Hershey. I look forward to having their sandwiches at Fall Hershey probably for brunch like I usually do. That is one way to avoid the long lunch lines.

Be very careful when you mow and especially trim your lawn. I have known people who accidentally cut the cable that provides their internet connection with their gas weed whacker. It took a few WEEKS for their internet provider to replace that cable. 😬

Years ago I purchased a California Car Cover for one of my vehicles at Fall Hershey. That year they offered a Hershey Discount and included free shipping. I received the cover 4-6 weeks later. The cover was custom made for my vehicle and fits like a glove.
I do not think that the California Car Cover Company themselves still vend at Fall Hershey but someone else might sell their products there.

Continuing the tradition of walking the Flea Market with friends on Thursday & Friday hunting for car part "Easter Eggs".
Visiting with old friends at their Flea Market Spaces and running into other friends walking in the Flea Market as well.
Judging on Saturday and will have a car in the Driver Participation Class.

At the bottom of the printed judging registration form it says the following:
"Send SASE to Stan to receive parking passes, which will be mailed 2 weeks prior to the show."
Not sure if this message appears if you pay your registration fee with a credit card.

Steve, You and the staff are some of the hardest working people I know. I realize over the last couple of years you and the staff have had your plates full to overflowing. Rest assured that I and many other AACA Members I know appreciate all your efforts on our behalf.
The upcoming story in the magazine sounds Fantastic! Looking forward to reading it.

Just think of the recording as the Historic Preservation of the Opening Ceremony (HPOC) which some might say fits right in with the club's mission of Preservation. 🙂
A video would be a permanent "memorial" of this Milestone for the Club that can be viewed by ALL club members wherever they are both now and for years to come.
Even if this recording is 5, 10 or 15 minutes, it would contain much more content and give the viewer a more complete feeling for the event than a typical 2-2:30 minute highlight segment on the local news which most members will probably not be able to see much past a few weeks after the event.
Sorry for adding to what's on your plate right now. Maybe I can find you a larger one? 😉

Marion, Thanks so much for all the great information posted in this thread.
In your post above you mentioned the breakfast buffet in the Swan Terrace Restaurant which sound great. When does the restaurant open on Thursday, Friday and most importantly Saturday mornings? I would image with the tours on Thursday and Friday and the show on Saturday it will open fairly early to give people time for a leisurely meal before starting the day.
Also, on Saturday, will there be outdoor food vendors on or near the show field? If so, will they be serving both breakfast and lunch for show car owners who want a quick bite to eat and do not have time for a meal in the restaurant?
