  1. Wow! Frank Corrente! Every time i visited LA I went over to his place to see what he had for sale .Always nice cadillacs but always to much money for my wallet  .Last time I was there in 2017 he had most of his cars with a damaged front windshield .A happy customer fired bullets trough the cars .I have to come back to see what he has for sale now .Don't know when , don't know how but i'll be back some day as they say .

Daniel, can you share a photo of the post on which the handle mounts?  It is not likely to be worn though.  My next guess, emphasis on guess, is that the handle was not pushed fully onto the post.

Thanks !!!   I started measuring and indeed those deluxe door handles did not go far enough on that pin .Only a few mm short  .I put on a new spring and carefully tapped on the handle and now it sits far enough and tight ! I will be able to sleep again ..

If all else fails get another handle. The handle is made of softer (pot) metal than the splined mounting post and they're subject to wear and looseness over time. The worn ones might pop right on when installed but can fly off when the door's slammed, you hit a bump in the road or sometimes they even come off overnight and you find them on the floor for no reason at all. Maybe it's just time for a new handle.

Thanks !But mine are those deluxe door handles that are difficult and expensive .But you can be correct in saying that the handle is worn out.

Thanks , but the handle is pushed to the end , the spring clicks in , de handle holds but when i wiggle a little bit it comes of .I will see if I can take a picture .

  5. I am assembling the door again after oiling and cleaning the door and window mechanism .I  mount the handle to open the door with a new spring and when i close the door the handle flies inside the car . I put some tension on the spring so it sits tight but still the handle does not sit tight .I even tought to look for a square spring so it does not slip out of it .Then i thought to use TEC 7 or lock tight but this is not what i like to do .I am afraid the pin where the handle goes over is worn out .What can i do ?? Before i become completely nuts and need psysical help .Thanks

  6. As I am in Belgium -Europe its always difficult when I need parts .It seams to be a national secret where to get new seals for waterpumps .I had the problem with all kinds of cars that i have .In fact its only seals grom a certain diameter .A repair always costs several hundred of $$ and in fact its only some $ for  seals and bearings .

This red car is for sale in Germany by a trader since quite a while for 19.999 Eur , ca 22.000 USD. Wonder what you guys think about the engine compartment. Engine not running. Screenshot_20240530_101340_mobilede.jpg.b0c29bfcc45e06f847f147c0ccd2e6cc.jpgScreenshot_20240530_101334_mobilede.jpg.fd041ba53d8945d8d5b23830996aac06.jpgScreenshot_20240530_101328_mobilede.jpg.d2eaa5b79efd648286cc0830196a2c56.jpgScreenshot_20240530_101316_mobilede.jpg.89c0b3d941db8a18a3033cd44465545b.jpgScreenshot_20240530_101309_mobilede.jpg.49db63eef8ae8c0a662fbb594fae2737.jpg

I saw the car also on the net .If I was in the market for such car I would go and take a look .I would take the risk of the engine not running if it is a original engine .Easier to repair an engine that a rusty body .

Neat Cadillac.  I agree the colors are a good choice. I guess I'm a little predisposed to the green because I have a green 57 Pontiac and people constantly tell me "the color on the car is really gorgeous!"

A certain Richard always says green is the color of money ...

Are you referring to the '49 Roadmaster sedanets which would be the adequate car to compare the 48/49 Cadillac fastbacks with, right? I haven't seen any of these available for some time and not in the 'high teens'. If you know where I can find one, please let me know!!! I w a n t one! 😊

Buick Roadmaster in the high teens ? Easily said but none for sale in that price range thay doesn't need a ton of work .

The tank should have an air outlet.  This is the tank from my '41.  Maybe it's clogged on your tank.

Mine does not have that fine pipe and there is a rubber hose between the neck and the tank .

Mine is not the same and here you have a tank and neck in one piece .Mine has a rubber hose to connect both parts like in the Buick catalog

Thanks for letting me know ! I guess you have to be very carefull when you go to the gas station .All the pictures i find on the net do not show that fine pipe like on the 1941 from previous post .

  12. Today i poured gas into the tank and the gas came back out when i poured to fast .I would be afraid to go to a gas station and fill it up without going very slow .I looked at new gas tanks from same year and i don't see anything that lets the air escape when you pour in gas .Like on Mercedes cars from the sixties there is a tube on top of the tank that let the air escape .Down here the air has to come out via the same pipe that you put the gas in and then you spill the gas together with the escaping air .....

Are you talking about the small pin perpendicular to the kingpin that intersects the kingpin bore in the knuckle and holds the kingpin in place?  I think it is item "AG" in the figure...

Hallo ,no its not that pin .I looked at ebay and there you can buy ,, lower outer pin kit,,and there is the problem. The king pin is moving freely on the outer pin kit , the king pin sits now completely in the front on the bushing instead of in the middle like on the other side .I did not take it apart yet to see where the problem is .i hope the king pin bottom support  is not worn out .
