  1. Jimm, my dad and I had a 42 DeLuxe sedan that was a delight to drive in every respect. It was a DeLuxe and had the lighted hood ornament. It also had the Fluid Drive, a radio, a heater, and turn indicators. I'm pretty sure they were all options on a DeLuxe. The blue Fifth Avenue had a really elaborate heater with ducts on the kick panels to direct heat to the back seat. That heater show up in the parts book. The large show room brochure shows Air Conditioning for the 42s. I wonder if any remaining 42s have that option? Dave

  2. My experience with 42 Fifth Avenues is that the brake light assembly was painted not chromed. I had a Fifth Avenue sedan, all blue no chrome on the brake light assembly and my 42 Fifth Avenue coupe was also a painted assembly. The 42 parts book does not show a chromed brake light assembly and the Fifth Avenue Ensemble section in the large 42 colour catalog does not make mention of it.

  3. Bhigdog probably has it right. Irish Spring soap was supposed to be a miracle mouse repellent. My neighbor tried it in his garage and found that the mice were eating the soap! Nature's best two mice eliminators, a hungry cat or black snake. Of course a lot of folks probably won't like the idea of a snake patrolling the garage.

  4. Last year Saturday trailer parking was on boat house rd. Could we change the direction of parking on that road? Last year, we had to come out on to rt.39 with no traffic light or police assistance. There were several near collisions there. If cars and trailers were parked in the opposite direction, we could exit on to Sand Beach Rd. down to Hershey Park Drive where there is a light. Please consider this.

  5. Well, Tom and TexasJohn, here we go again. The 27 is still acting up. I have a new battery installed. Took a drive in it today and came home and shut it off. Started again but not as quickly as I think it should. Drove down to a station for some petrol. This station has a sloped parking lot, just in case. Sure enough, it won't start. Battery is spinning the engine but no ignition. Got it rolling, popped the clutch, took 3 attempts, this time. Came home, shut engine off and tried a restart. Nothing. Got my small wrenches and put in coil number 3. Coil number 2 was hot to the touch. Tried a restart, nothing again. Got her rolling, popped clutch and took 4 attempts to get her running. Put it back into the garage. I'm disgusted. I'm going to pop the distributor car and check for excessive oil. Also will put a meter on the coil and see if I'm losing voltage somewhere. I worked on a 25 11A once and it would shut off when running and the problem was the ignition switch. I'll look at that too. This seems to be my summer of discontent. nothing but car problems. I have coil number 4, I may try that too. Dave
