  1. This is my Dads first car that he got on his 13th birthday, a 1927 chevy. Check out his homemade go-cart. He had a Goat he use to hook it to and pull him around.

Dad had this car for years and when he was in Japan during WW II as a radio man he made a Japanessee friend who wanted the car. When Dad made it home he paid and had the 27 chevy sent to this man in Japan. (I love this story ) They were just two good guys caught up in a war not of their own making.

This is the last photo that I messed up.

  2. I hope these attachments load fast for you. My computer loads them in less than a second. I don't know anything about this stuff so if you have a problem please let me know. I also didn't know of any other way to post the photos in just one spot. If you know of away let me know.

This is the 1923 Studebaker that started it all !!! This car was destoryed

when it was hit by a B&O train. B&O bought my Grandfather a new Studebaker as

Engineer did not blow the whistle as he approached the crossing.

Love the re-do on the photo. Gee, a Hurst SC/rambler against a blue ox. Hmmm..... grin.gif </div></div> The SC/Rambler replaces the blue ox. ( I wonder if young people these days even know of the Paul Bunyan stories )

I never touched a computer until two years ago and that picture I have up here is my first ever attempt of doing something in the photo shop !!!! I will keep redoing it until I get it right. I will use this for the cards that I give out at car shows, the kids should love it.

Thanks to all that say they remember the SC/Rambler's and like them.

    thanks,

Also here in NC, it seems that everyone entered in the show HAS to take home a trophy or they go home mad. Personally, if they get that upset over not getting an award they need to find another hobby. This is suppose to be fun and if they can let something like no getting an award get them that bent out of shape, something is wrong. </div></div>

Right on !!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you own your dream car the biggest award should be driving it. I always wonder , do people really dream about winning a award at a car show ???

  5. This Challenger was all redone by 1982. It was rebuilt by a man named John Book (A MOPAR GOD). He raced Hemi cars under the name of MOUNTAIN MOPAR ( West Virginia thing). John had one of the 1970 Hemi Cuda's convertible 4- speed cars ( I think they made like 15 of them if that )! ! ! I got to sit in that car when I was a kid.

If I remember right the Challenger had like 600+ horsepower when it was done. Everything about this car was done right !!! It wasn't factory correct as it was only 12 years old at the time but it had all the GOooo....and Chrome to.

The most important thing about this car is that you could work any lock on it with a screwdriver or knife !!! I seem to think that the six pack carbs were a machanical set up.I think the production cars were vacume weren't they?? Anyway the story goes that this car was a preproduction car that might have been stolen by a man that was to take it to a racetrack for Dodge to put on display when it was new. Thats what we were told a few years after he had owned it. Their were never any title problems as we were the 3rd or 4th owners so who knows. It does make sense though. ( He will always regret letting that one go).

The Challenger was sold to a man in Parksburg WV. in 1983 I think. I don't know anything after this.

    See attachment.

    thanks,

    matt

  6. I know I'm new but I have been around cars all my life so I feel I have to say something here.

I have felt for years that if the Hot Rods are let it that it will only HELP THE HOBBY.

Lets say there is a class for (1930 to 1935 Fords) at a show.then there should be a class for (1930 to 1935 Hot Rod Fords). These two classes should be kept together on the show field but in different Rows!!! (Wait, don't go crazy on me) The good thing about this is that young & older people that have interest in the same kind of cars can be kept together. They could look at each others stuff and learn from one another. How cool would it be if a young Hot Rod guy knew of a decent 1934 setting somewhere and a older member might know of one that is in bad shape but would be great for the Hot Rodder!!! (The decent one could be saved and the bad one could be turned into a cool HotRod).Every one could start respecting what the other guy is doing and share some info as we all need parts (owning a rare AMC I know all about that). I feel this is the best way to keep them from cutting up good cars and getting them to understand how great the original cars are. You could do this with all the classes and it would keep them from being all in one place!!!! MAKE SURE THEY GIVE YOU THEIR LICENSE PLATE NUMBER WHEN THEY REGISTER !!! WILL KEEP THEM HONEST. I don't think any Hot Rodder coming to a AACA meet has raising Hell on his mind but I guess I could be wrong. I HATE THAT MUSIC ALSO, have to tell them that playing it loud is not welcome under any circumstance !!!!

I have more of a problem with clone cars not having their own class at local car shows (none aaca shows). It is no good when a clone car wins over a true rare original muscle car no matter what it's condition is !!!!

These are just my thoughts that make sense to me. I know you guys might not agree but this might be worth a try .

    thanks,

    Matt

This is less then a year later in 1980.That was our 1937 Packard and our 1928 Packard. I'm sitting in the 1928 and my brother is the one cleaning it.I was mad at the world as my brother was old enough to drive so Dad let him drive the 1937 to the show and I still had to wait another year to be legal. Man I will never forget how I felt on this day. (hell to be the little brother)!!!!!!!!!

This is photo from 1979.My brother won the WV.state championship in his 1970 Dodge Challenger 440 six pack. That track was a 1,000 foot track, little less then 1/4 mile. He is the one with the helmet and I'm the one holding the trophy. Our friend in the middle. My brother did great as he was a young 16 years of age, I was 14 !!! My parents would drive one of their old Classic cars to the track and watch us race !!!! This was fun stuff,I wonder where the years go as it doesn't seem that long ago.

The Challenger was restored after this. It looked great and was faster then ever but was never as much fun. It was sold because of this. Restored cars are great but I have seen alot of people restore them when they didn't need it. That just seems a shame to me but I guess,to each their own.

    thanks,

    Matt

I learned to drive a 4-speed in this Challenger.

    Paul Bunyan says, STEP UP.....lets race ! ! ! !

I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT when I drove by it. The colors are even in the same order as the car!!!!! The AMC people will get a big kick out of this I'm sure.

If any of you guys get MUSCLE CAR ENTHUSIAST MAGAZINE keep your eyes open for my Hurst SC/rambler in the July issue,"Real Muscle Coast To Coast" section.

I can't wait to see some of your cars at Greensburg Pa show. I know of a 1969 428 Couger Eliminator that should be there. It is just unreal !!!

I hope you can see the fun in having a photo like this. I hope you like it even if you don't like the car.

  10. I would love a ride in a rumble seat. I WOULD JUST LIKE TO GO AROUND IN A PARKING LOT because I am 5'10" and 240 lbs. I never got the chance as a kid, would just be fun to have a photo and to say that I have.

I am only 39 years old and it upsets me alot to read some of these stories that you guys have posted. It is so sad that parents will let their kids act like that and to not care about it is unreal!!!!! I hate the thought that those young people are going to be taking care of me when I'm old. I would have never seen adulthood if I would have acted like that,my parents would have seen to that.

    thanks,

    matt

  11. I will look for a photo of the white one that is here. I think I'm wrong as it might say II on the side of it.

My friends was repainted all black. Did not put decals back on as his money went in the engine. That car was bad fast with that built 351 in it. It was very tight fit. You should have seen it.

I have seen a picture of a conv.Rogue that was made to look like a SC/rambler. It looked liked thay had done a real nice job of it at that.

They only made conv Rogue's in 1967 and there were only like 900 of them built. I would love to have one. go here, www.joiesjeeps.com Lots of SC/rambler info.

    thanks,

  12. My friend had a black Mustang King Cobra !!!!! Years ago he had a 351 built for it!!!

It was a tight fit so my other friend had to make headers that raised up over the valve covers and then down by the firewall. Car was wicked fast and lasted a week before he hit a tree on his way to work.

Their is a real nice white one that has blue stripe on it here in Uniontown Pa.

All Hurst SC/ramblers were hardtops. They built 1,512 of them and every one of them were the same except for the paint schemes. Two R.W.B. PAINT SCHEMES.

I would like to see your car very much.

    thanks,

    matt

When I make a pass at the track I always do it in late fall. If I would break anything in spring it would most likey take me down for the whole summer at least.

Our old all original 1926 Wills on far right. This photo was taken at the old plant in 1983. This was a great turnout of four cars for the national meet back then !!!!!!

We met a few people that had worked at the plant back in the day and my Mom wrote down their address and what they did at the plant along with the years that they had worked there!!!! All these people have passed away years ago so it is great to have this.I well pass this information along to the Wills members if they want it. I have to get the AACA all the stuff they need to get my 1969 Hurst SC/rambler certified in the Competition class first though.

Those Wills Sainte Claire's were great cars !!!!! See below for photo of my Father (left) and a friend that came down from up north to see the car and hopefully get a ride in it.This was back in May of 1982, even the snow didn't stop my Father from taking this man for a 30 mile ride!!!!! They both say this day is one that sticks out most in their minds from the years of enjoying the old car hobby.

    thanks,

As much as I like the Chevelles, Mustangs and Roadrunners, cars like yours aren't as common, and it's good to see one still out there that is in good shape. Hurst SC/Ramblers, AMX's, Javelins, etc were really neat cars that have somehow been overlooked more than the other american made brands. After doing several restorations on "orphan" vehicles, I understand how hard it is to keep one of those cars running, and appreciate the fact that someone has cared enough to keep one out there. </div></div>

Thank you very much for understanding what these great cars are !!!!!!

I just got a reply letter congratulating me as my SC/rambler will be in the July issue of MUSCLECAR ENTHUSIAST magazine !!!!!!! I also have a reply letter from HOT ROD magazine and JOHNNY LIGHTING DIECAST saying that they will replicate my SC/rambler before the end of 2006.

I have alot of fun with this car and it is very nice to know that it will be seen by so many people.

    thanks again,

Well he is not little, he is 42lbs.

This would be a great place to have a car show. 100 plus achers of parking, some blacktop and some grass. 60 miles south of Pittsburgh on Rt.40.

I was just having some fun here, hope you like it.

  17. most likely my brother as he has old cars as well.

I will look you up sometime.

Did you go on the Hurst SC/rambler site and see the one that was in Charleston. Maybe you had seen it before.I had only seen it once and that was at least 20 years ago.

We did take our dog to all the car shows years ago but never walked her around any of the cars. Dad would have killed us if we had done that. I would be really pissed if my car was damaged by a dog at a car show. If you know my Mom you know how careful she is about everything.

    thanks,

    matt

  18. My Mom and Dad are salt of the earth people !!!! They love animals and have always tried to help them !!! I have four Fainting goats , dog ,cat rabbit and a game rooster !!! Dad just loves the rooster as it reminds him of the old days with his Dad.

The 1956 Chrysler was my Grandfathers car and we are so pleased that the Mayor uses it as his daily driver to this day!!!!! The list of cars that we have owned over the years is long, we have had very rare ones and always enjoyed using them. A man asked my Dad one time when he owned the Wills St. Claire , what if something would happen to it ? Dad was real nice and said , well I guess their would be one less and some parts for the other guys !!!! I love that as the cars have always been fun to us. I work 6 days a week so when Sunday comes around I drive the SC/rambler as I hate to use up all my time cleaning it.

My trucking driving job takes me to Charleston alot and I stop by and see them often.

    thanks,

    matt

    I paid my Dues today , I'm a AACA member !!!!!
