Brain, I remember that article we as Packard owners are always going to have put up with the "Big 3 mindset" in the old car hobby that the reason the indepedents went out business was they all made an inferior product not that lack of sales was the main reason, BTW my freind who is a do or die Ford man loves the way my Packard rides and handles and he honestly admits that the 56 Lincon had more Quality control problems than Packard ask any person that really knows there fords and they all will tell you that the 56 Lincon is one car that you might want to avoid because of just transmission problems alone!! lack of knoledge is a terible thing especilly in the Auto business even today!!!
  12. Brain, when I use to work on heavy duty equipment like tractors and a few bulldozers we would bring them in and use a number of difrent degreasers to remove the crud and grease but the key was HOT WATER the hotter the better!! even right out of hose it worked great even with out using a pressure washer with a pressure washer you really can't cocentrate on one a small spot and with a steam cleaner you can't see what your doing, even great to desluge engines for rebuilding . BTW when is perrysburg?? <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
  13. Is there an interchange for my fuel filter p/n 6484042 ?? The application is for my 56 Clipper. Has this already been posted?? Spring has sprung and I can hear the sweet sound of Packard V8'S as they come to life from a well rested winter sleep. Joe

  15. What type of metal polish do you like to use on your chorme ?? Has anyone found any tricks that sometimes can bring the chorme back to a high lusture and threfore you can save the expense of replateing , I have had good luck using Weanol metal polish over the years for diffrent types of metal, but maybe someone has been using a product that really gets the job done ..........Joe
  16. Brain, thanks again for sharing all your knoledge with all of us on this forum , I can also relate that certain times in ones life you just don't have the time to complete the pet projects you set out to complete, I think my clipper might be the last car that I am going to restore for a number of resons and I always end putting my cars on the back burner, with my former job I had alot more vacation time so I would alawys able to devote a few weeks where I would be able to finsh a major amount of work or complete a certain phase of the restoration, but my free time is very limited because of my parents health, but I hope to be able to at least complete some of the smaal projects on the car and maybe get to major ones latter , Joe
  17. What is a traffic veiwer?? I saw this awhile back on a 56 Clipper on Ebay was this a factory option?? What is a good souce that would list all the options for the 56 cars??
  18. I have to agree with the other guys, 56 is the way to go, they have all the right factory updates that make the 56's a little less trouble prone, and little better quality control , but if you are able to buy the right 55 go for it!!
