  1. Bought radio for my restoration and tested and it works fine. Problem is the antenna connection to radio. Have fitting that fits into radio but no antenna wire and not sure how to connect wire to fitting. Fitting is same altho maybe not same size as fitting for horn connector--goes into radio and then turns to lock--my connector is not correct but think I can find one. Question is how to manufacture the antenna wire. Will have under running board antenna fabricated and hook wire to it. Any ideas--as always thanks in advance.

  2. Horn relay installed on the firewall just to driver's side of air vent. I have it installed. The 3 prong animal I'm referring to does not have any cover on it--like the horn relay--and is a little shorter than the horn relay. I thought it might be for heater as that is only auxillary I had on car. Now installing radio but didn't have one originally. I'm going to power both radio and heater from battery and don't think I will need this unknow device. Almost have wiring harness installed with exception of some connections to dash gauges. Thanks for reply.

  3. Putting back together my 36 model 40 and there is a vaccum line running from base of carb to vaccum on the distributor. 1/8 line and fitting on end of line not normal flare but the fitting onto carb is there. I need an identical fitting to connect the line to the vaccum on the distributor. The fitting itself increases size from my 1/8 line to the opening on the carb/vaccum--not sure of size but guy at NAPA told me 10/1 metric(doesn't make sense to me) and the end that fits into the carb is not open but has small hole in it. Don't know if the fitting for vaccum on distributor should be of same configuration. Any suggestions as to where I might obtain fitting would be appreciated or if one of you has an extra one or more you would like to get rid of I would like to purchase. Thanks

  4. Think I have color chips for 36 altho not certain of condition. I purchased my paint from AutoColor as it was the only source I located for my 36 buick model 40. Link is http://www.autocolorlibrary.com/aclns.html. If you don't want to use their paint could buy a quart and have sample for your supplier of choice. I used Ballue Brown, original color of my car and found it to be as close as I could tell to the original that was found on parts of vehicle. Hope this helps and I'll see if I can find the chips and advise. Will be out of town quite a bit this week so may be weekend.

  5. Appreciate the photos and response--exactly what I needed. I have one other relay? which I can't identify. Has 3 prongs and installs close to headlight switch. Don't see it in photo as I suspect tucked under dash. I think it might be relay for heater but my only lableling is where it was located under dash. It is not covered with black or metal top but the connections are exposed. I will post photo when I get home. Any ideas? Thanks again for the help.

  6. Restoring 36 model 40 and ready to install main wiring harness. Need photos of firewall showing wiring harness and installation. Also need to know where the horn relay mounts and what it looks like. Thought it installed under dash next to headlight switch but not sure and not sure what it looks like. Wiring harness from Rhode Island and compared to old harness is an almost exact duplicate so my problem is the restoration has taken so long I don't recall how it installed and altho I thought I took a ton of photos unfortunately not enough. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

  7. Installing my brake system and purchased new aftermarket brake hose. The hose from the rear brake line to the line which connects to the master cylinder seems short. Can someone tell me the length of the rear hose. Connects the rear brake line to the short master brake line. The fronts are longer than what is needed but what was supplied when hooked to bracket does not seem to be long enough to connect to the old line. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  8. Model 41 had wood in doors and part of frame for body. Wood along rear doors which commonly rots. Alot of wood around rear windows and side rear windows. I just replaced the wood in all 4 doors as well as much of the wood in rear of vehichle. I had local woodworker copy the pieces I salvaged. Very expensive altho turned out pretty good.

Don't know when they stopped using wood but definitely in 36 begin used.

  9. Bob's catalog shows that to be for 37-38 buick but not for 1936. 36 is as I've described--I believe. If you or someone else has photos of 36 radio antenna I would sure appreciate receiving and could send to cookr@oge.com. I'm not trying to complicate but pretty sure 36 and 37 different. I have radio book which shows the antenna as I've described and mine came with antenna in that configuration on the one running board--the other had the same triangle shaped insulators made of rubber to connect to the strips of metal which act as antenna.

  10. My 36 had antenna on one running board and not the other. It had what appeared to be approx 1/2 inch strips of galvanized metal(two) attached under running board with the insulated rubber. There was a place for a lead which I assume went to radio. There was also a piece that went across car to other running board so I assume same set-up on passenger side. These two stips of metal went the length of the running board. I purchased the rubber insulators from Steele but would like to have photos of precise set-up.

    Any hlep would be appreciated--Thanks
