  1. CHMSL back in place and everything continues to work as it should. Hopefully this was a once-only problem but I will be checking the brake lights fairly frequently in case the problem is intermittent. Thank you all for your help and suggestions -Brad
  2. Update: BOTH brake lights now work. Hmm. Hopefully not a dreaded intermittent problem. The only variable is that I have removed the CHMSL to replace a few burned out bulbs. Let's see what happens when I return it to its spot. Everything else is working as it should - front and rear signals, flashers, tail lights, and I can clearly hear the flasher clicks. Once the CHMSL is back in place I will post a follow up.
  3. Flashers work. Brake lights work. Drivers side turn signal works - all three bulbs. Just passenger side turn signal doesn't
  4. Is this the assembly located in the steering column?
  5. Thank you Padgett. Both the CHMSL and flashers work as they should. I will check the FSM and see what I come up with. But your suggestion helps tremendously.
  6. Hi, On my '91 convertible only the drivers side brake lights work. No brake lights on the passenger side. However, the rear turn signals work just fine on both sides so it is not bulb issues and obviously the "high" filament is getting power for the turn signals. Also the tail lights all are working as they should. I have not attempted to replace the brake light switch yet. It seems if it was a brake light switch issue then none of the brake lights would work. Ideas? Thank you, Brad
  7. If anybody is looking for Pirelli's, Walmart.com (web only) has Pirelli P4 Four Season tires at $ 52/each. Significantly less than anywhere else. It had very good reviews and I had Pirelli's on another car, I was very happy with tires. Putting them on my '91
  8. I did attend the Reatta Rally with my white '91, unfortunately the one that got the damage. I agree that cloth is a much nicer option but as mine is a white top and does spend some time outside I probably should stick with vinyl. Ervin did email me with some great suggestions (Thank you Ervin)
  9. Last night someone decided to wack out my back window on one of my 'verts. Never a good thing to wake up to and of course now requires the entire top to be replaced. I know this has been discussed in the past but any updated suggestions/recommendations regarding a good brand of top? Currently the top is white vinyl which I plan to stay with. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. -Brad
  10. Mine '90 has done the same thing. Moisture in the truck key switch so when I wash the car I try to avoid spraying directly on the key switch. If it does happen I remove the "body" fuse which stops the switch from working and let it dry out for a day. Then it is fine.
  11. The plastic radiator tank on my '91 has cracked . As I am going to have to replace the radiator, at this point it appears I will buy a GM replacement from the dealer. But does anyone have any suggestions of radiators that may be better than stock (such as more area for better cooling) or a better value than going to the dealer. Experiences with non-GM replacement radiators? Thank you, -Brad

    Seat Cushions

    Excellent info. Thank you. -Brad
  13. Are driver side and passenger side seat cushions interchangable? As my driver side cushion is starting to break down I am hoping I can exchange the seldom used passenger cushion with it. Note: the seats are the standard, non-16 way seats Thanks Brad
  14. Jim, These pair of speakers I bought at an audio store as I wanted to make sure they fit. Since I own a second convertible I am going to order the next pair on-line. I did a google search on them and found numerous sources but haven't order the second pair yet so I have no specific vendor yet.
  15. A final follow up to 4 x 10 speakers. In addition to the fore mentioned speakers I also tried Memphis Audio 4 x 10's. Tweeter too tall. While at this particular audio shop I saw Eclipse SE 8405 3-way 4 x 10's. They fit! - without mods, sound great and are available on-line for about $60-$70. I hope this info saves somebody the time, money and hassle that I went through of finding correctly fitting 4 x 10 speakers
  16. Anyone have any suggestions on replacment 4 x 10 speakers for a convertible? I have tried Pioneer TS-A4103's and they did not fit into the cutouts as they appear to be slightly too wide. I also tried Kenwood KFC-415C's and although they fitted much better in the cutouts, they were too tall as the tweeter was integrated into the plastic surround and and as such the surround couldn't be remove to lower the speaker height. Any info would be most appreciated.
  17. Probably one critical piece of info I did not mentioned in my original post is that the CHMSL does work normally so that would indicated the brake pedal switch is OK. It is only the tail light brake lights that stay on. Am I on the right track with the micro relay? Thanks
  18. An intermittent problem on my '90 Convertible is the brake lights will stay on. I remove and reinsert the brake light fuse and the lights go off and then may work normally for a while. I suspect it is a relay in the micro relay center but want to get opinions before I tear into it. It also appears that the micro relay center is behind the gray truck lining material which appears to be held in place by plastic fasteners. Any suggestions on the removal of this without destroying the material and fasteners would be most appreciated. Thank you Brad
  19. Since putting a new battery in my '90, every time I tune the radio (FM) to a new station (both preset and manually)the letters "LD" show up just above the word "stereo". The "LD" disappears after a few seconds but I had never seen that before. It has never appeared in either of my two other Reattas. I have checked the owners manual and could not find any explanation. Any explanation of what the "LD" is suppose to be for and why did is suddenly appear? Thanks Brad
  20. A few of the lights behind the buttons on my climate control in my '91 are not working. Are they replacable lights or is it just as easy to replace the entire unit. I also noticed that the dash bezel on the '91 has only two upper screws (in the A/C vents) as opposed to 4 upper screws as in '90. Any special technique in removing the '91 dash bezel? Thank you, Brad
  21. Both my '90 coupe and '90 conv do the same thing whenever I wash them or it rains. I remove the "Body" fuse (I think that's the one) which of course stops the cycling. After it dries out it works fine again. If someone has an answer please let us know.
  22. I have used Jim Finn and Reattadudes and have got what I can get from them. But still need many more parts for my coupe and two convertibles, especially for the convertibles. If anyone has any suggestions of who/where to find parts it would be most appreciated. Thank you in advance.
  23. American Stitches sounds like they do a great job. What is the phone number and location of American Stitches?
  24. Anyone have any suggestions on where to get radios and CD players repaired? It is out of the car so it can be shipped anywhere. The radio suffers from static on one channel. I know it's the radio as I replaced it with a working radio out of one of my other Reattas and everything works fine. Thank you
  25. My upholstory shop has material which is close but noticeably different from the rest of the headliner. As it is the sunroof I need the material is on 1/8" foam backer. He tried to get the exact material GM used but his suppliers no longer carried it. So if anyone knows of a supplier that still carries a direct replacement I would appreciate it. Thanks
