  1. Hi!

I have a long term project to restore a Reo Model G 2 tn truck from 1926. I still need some spare parts. Are all Model G restored already or are there any part trucks available? Hope to hear something from somebody.

Enclosed photo is taken in 1928.

  2. Hi!

Thank you for good replies. I was born in Vehmaa. My father and grandfather used to work for stone quarry company. There is a special museum in Vehmaa where you can see how stone work was once done. Next time when I visit I shall take a photo of the men operated crane which was used to load and unload blocks of rock. Also shafts and reels were used.

  3. Hi!

This photo has been taken in a place called Vehmaa in Finland. Vehmaa is famous for its red granit. My opinion is that this is a 6 cylinder Chevrolet truck from late 1920´s or early 1930´s. Is this right?

I have a Reo Model G Heavy Duty Speed Wagon 2 tn truck. Also my truck was used in Vehmaa to carry blocks of red granit.

  4. Hi!

Here in Turku we had several taxi stations around the center of town. This photo shows a station called Hotel Phoenix. The building in the picture is Hotel Phoenix. Cars in the row are: the 1 st car N.A.G., the 3rd car Opel and the 4th car N.A.G. The 2nd car is bit hard. Could it be Martini? Martini cars were manufactured in Switzerland from 1897 till 1934. There was a company called "Turun Insinööritoimisto which sold Martini car in Turku. The first police car in our town was Martini.

  5. Here is another photo which shows a taxicap from 1920´s here in Turku, Finland. I should know this but I am not sure so I´ll to hear your opinion. I think this is a Oldsmobile from 1927/28. On the hubcap there seems to be number 6 or 8. I am eager to hear what you have say. In every case your help has been very valuable.

  6. Hei!

Very intersting information on your lists. I have been collecting early auto photos with the help of historical society of Turku. Most of the photos show registration plate. I am planning to produce a database which will show as complete list of early registration plates with information about the make of the car, model of the car, make of the year of the car, who owned the car and is the registration plate black or white. Earlier on registration plates were changed every year. The numeber stayed same but the base color was eithe white or black. Earlyregistration plates in Turku area had just one letter. That was T and the number followed that.

Could it be possible to find relatives of Taxell. They could tell if the car is their and what was the make of the car. Or they might have other photos which are better quality.

    Greetings from Turku

  7. Hi!

I try to comment geekay from Turku to Helsinki via AACA forum. I m not so sure the early car in the photo is Benz. It seems that there is no windshield. Then there are small parking light on the front fensers. Also it seems like the radiator is flat - not triangular.

Before 1922 register plates were given locally to cars/car owners. Helsinki started to give register plates in 1907 and Turku 1911. In Turku in county archives we have a black book from Turku policestation. When a car owner was given a plate his name was written to this book. Also a the driver of the car was written down and of cource the date plate was given. Maybe such book could be found also from achives in Helsinki.

That was time when driving and riding a automobile was great fun - time of sunday rides

  8. Hi!

I am clearing olds stuff that our local veteran car club has stored for years. I found two rims like these. It would be nice if someone out there could tell me from which make they came originally. That way I could offer them to right person and to right restoration project.

  9. Hi!

For some reason Cole sounded very familiar so I went through my old file... And what I found - Bingo! In Turku we have a county archives. Many years ago I have copied almost every auto registration file they have from 1910´s and 1920´s. Record are fracmental. Anyway I found that Oy Littois Ab owned a Cole (it was handwritten and misspelled - Coole) in 1921. The Cole was equipped with 50 hp engine, tire size was 895x195 and body was for 6 persons. Does this information sound right?

Oy Littois Ab ( in Swedish, in Finnish the company was called Oy Littoinen Ab) was a cloth factory near Turku. They made fabric out of cotton and linen. At this address you can see a photo of the company: http://www.porssitieto.fi/yhtiot/kuvat/littois.jpg

Thank you so much for your help!

  10. Morning!

They did import Citroens to Finland so the hubcaps may well be of DS.

Thanks to you´ll for good remarks. Once again this has been an excelent learning process.

  11. Hi!

Actually man has only three hubcaps. He found them in the center of Turku. Someone was throwing the hubcaps into waste container. So there might be a slite chance... Many very odd makes of cars were imported to Finland in 1910´s and 20´s.

  13. Hi!

A friend of mine is starting a very challenging restoration project. He is going to rebuild a Reo Royal bodied by Murray Co. from 1931. This Reo was used by Finnish prime ministers during 1930´s. There is need for whole chassis and many body parts. He would like to buy a part car if that were available. Also literature is in the list of needs. Any help is greatly appreciated. Let us know about things you have available.

  14. Hi!

Do you know of which make the chassis on the photo is? My friend is looking for a chassis for 1931 Reo Royal. I am not sure which chassis this is! Are you planning to sell the chassis?

  15. Bryan,

Year 1936 was the very last production year for Reo passenger cars. I believe some 1500 units were made. So there can´ t be too made round today. Do you have any engine or vehicle production numeber of your project Reo?

I have two Reos from 1926 a 4D Sedan and 2tn truck. Both are Model Gs.

Feel free to ask more help.

    Best wishes from Turku, Finland
