It can well be so that parts were taken from different makes of cars to keep the pickup running. Local blacksmiths and car mechanics were very clever at this. Thank you for your great remarks. I have to ask the man who used to own the Maxwell in the 50´s if he know something more about the history of the vehicle.

Enclosed is a photo of 4D Sedan from 1924/25 which was rebuilt into pickup. After WW II there was a great need for commercial vehicles so passerger cars were turned pickups. I hope to hear your opinion about the year of make and model. What kind of body styles were available during these years?
This Maxwell was in use in a small village called Yläne here in Finland. The photo is taken sometimes in 50´s.
Best wishes

Here is a close up of top of the windshield stanchion. I do not think it says "Torino". I also enclose a close up of the hub. It also seems like the top is somehow locked when at place on windhield frame tops. There is close up also of radiator mascot. The radiator top is rounded like Kissel Kar but I don´t think this is Kissel Kar. We had some Killsels in Finland, too.

Thank you very much for your help again. I think the fouth car is Opel. Hjalmar Linder owned also Leon Bollee but the forth car is not Leon Bollee. The fifth car is very difficult to identify. I called to the museum in Mustio mansion and they told me that the photo was taken in Kytäjä mansion which Mr. Linder also owned.
I enclose a phto of Linder´s Leon Bollee and Mors.

Hj. Linder was not the first car owner in Finland. The first one was Mr. Viktor Forselius. When Linder got interested in autos he bought very impressive collection on cars. This included 1901 Mors, Leon Bollee, 1905 Mercedes Simplex and two Rolls-Royces.
Enclosed is a photo taken in Mustio Finland. This is the home of Linder. I do not know if all cars in a line are owned by Linder or if he had some of his friends visiting his home. It would be interesting to hear your comments on the make and model of the cars in the line.

Here is another Reo photo that I have bought to my collection. It would be nice to know why some many Reos and their owners got together. Where did they meet, why did they meet and how many year has past since they had their get together run. Could Dahl & Sons text be of any help to locate the seen of photo taking.

I think that is quite neat way of advertise cars - romantic. It would be nice if we had a list of dealer; where and when operated. If I remember right PAC has a member who is listing Packard dealers. This is information which should be collected and stored somewhere.

The radiator loks a bit like Mercedes Simplex but I guess they did not import them to the US. How about Herreshoff.

I just learned that Bristol in Minnesota is just a farming hamlet. So C. A. Smith Agent was located in New Hampshire. Life long learning process took a small step again.

The photo is cutted into birch park. This made me wonder the state could be Minnesota. There is a small town called Bistoll in Southern Minnesota. Does anyone have any information about C. A. Smith Agent?

Hi!
I am collecting photos and post cards which relate to early Reo cars and Reo factory in Lansing. Enclosed is a card showing 1907 Reo. At the bottom of the photo there is information which I quess tells that the Reo dealer is C.A. Smith Agent Bristol MN. The abbreviation for the state seems a bit unclear but I think there are letters MN and not NH. Was there a such Reo dealer in this small Minnesotian town?

It may well be so that the car is not a taxi but a Scania-vabis belonging to Lars Krogius. It pity that I do not know where the photo game from. Houses background look like houses in Uusikaupunki but the photo may well be taken in Turku, too.
Thank you very much for the good remarks you all have made.

Casper - you are right! The Stoever was registeres in Helsinki. I don´t know when they started to use registration plates like this. The earlier plates were like H:fors and number. The first registration plates came into use in Helsinki year 1907 and in Turku 1911. The registration plate in this Stoever is A 557.
Vintman - I try to get you a close up ohoto of the rear hub.
Thank you so much for your help - again!

Hi!
Once again I put up a photo of a taxi in Turku, Finland. I think this is a Gebruder Stoever, a German car that was manufactured in Stettin. This town is now part of Poland. Hope to hear your opinion about the make, model ja year of make of this car from the teens.
Best wishes

Thank you for your quick reply. Is that round bulge a gas tank? It looks like there is a filling cap and two bands to hold the tank in place.

King size Reo bus
in What is it?
Posted
In 1927 in Helsinki Finland there was a car show. Most of the dealers had their exhibition inside a hall. The firm -Pohjoismaiden Autotuonti Oy- that imported Reo cars to Finland at that time built a huge Reo bus to show latest models of passenger cars. Trucks and buses were parked outside.
