1. I guess the 384785 is going to scrap bin and the other one will wait and see. I have checked the numbers on the manifold and it is 417754 RH (5).
2. Hey guys, I got couple manifolds kicking around and just wondering if anybody could tell me if these are very common and are they worth anything ? Casting numbers are; 417754 RH (A) and 384785 LH (5).
3. Does anybody know what is a bolt pattern (wheel) for full size olds (1968/98)???
4. I think you will have to bend and flare them yourself.Take your old ones out,lay it on the floor and make new ones to match them...sounds simple
5. SBC in a olds?!?!?! Obviously you can do it,but why? Install a nicely done up 403 and you are flying, plus less labour and more original! You should hear my baby run :-)
6. try www.kanter.com or www.fusick.com or one more www.usapartssupply.com if you cannot find it in there then most likely nobody will have it!?
7. try KANTER auto parts, I think they have it. www.kanter.com I was looking for my 68/98 and it was in their catalog. My mistake...it was http://www.fusick.com/ they had battery hold downs!
8. Hi Phil, I was able to buy heater core for mine 1968.98 at local parts supply dealer like pep boys!
9. THM 400 transmision doesn't have overdrive as far as know, there is a switch on accelerator pedal, but that's for kick-down(wire goes to transmision)and guys correct me if I am wrong!
10. Sgt Art,I can see from previous post that you knew that, but seesand77 got info from somewhere???!!! that it is split left/right!just imagine the brake pull you would get if one sytem fails, you would end up in a ditch or ...opposite traffic lane...ouch!
11. On rear wheel drive cars the split is front/rear ,not left/right!Who told you that it is split left/right? Stay away from that information source! Front wheel drive cars are split diagnolly RF/LR & LF/RR.
12. hey, very simple problem I think, your air mix door(blend door)stuck open.It suppose to redirect air from heater core.Basicaly this door directs air flow through heater core or bypasses it.I don't know if yours is controled by cables or vacuum,so start cheking under dash for binding or broken cables or disconected or broken vacuum lines.hopefully this helps and good luck
13. Thanks for the info Sgt Art,I do know that 403 do not like high rpm at all,I have read that red line is 5500,but my opinion you should stay below 4500 (maybe on WOT when passing somebody you could go over)but hey this engine is design for pure bottom end torque not rpm.So I can see how driving at 4000 rpm or higher for some time would finish it's life. The other thing about 403 is cooling system GOTTA BE imacullate. On the other hand go with 455 and forget about everything I just said :-) just keep filling the gas tank.
14. Sgt Art,you have said you span a bearing on your 403....stock engine? and at what rpm? just wondering since I am almost done rebuilding mine(403)
15. Check this page out,you just might find what you looking for. Mondelos
16. I have a silly question....what makes it a collectors car?I though it had to have rare option, maybe a bit different styling and obviouslly age!Just because manufacturer says it's collectors car doesnt mean it's gonna be one,and be worth alot of money one day(like in 35 years).Correct me if I am wrong.Thats just my opinion.
17. big block exhaust manifold will bolt to a small block up if you remove the starter motor...it interfiers, you will have to use small aftermarket starter!!!and on passenger side manifold will hit the oil filter adapter plate.
18. You mean like your hands .....like they say "only time will take it off"
19. I do have manifolds with crossover pipe, but I wanted to switch to dual exhaust....all this trouble...maybe it's not worth it but it would breath better!
20. so basicaly I have to use SB manifold. The qeustion would be which ones?Maybe you SGT ART know, which manifolds can fit a SB(403) in a 1968 98 for dual exhaust?
21. Hey guys,I have tried to install a BB exhaust manifolds(S casting) on a SB and came across one problem...it interfiers with a starter motor solenoid! Are there any diferent starter motors for small block? or maybe I can have(in some wierd way) solenoid at the bottom of the starter???Any ideas olds people???
22. I have read on that WWW. .com thing that olds and pontiac cam lifters are diferent,so how come big companys like Edelbrock have the same part number???any ideas guys?
23. I have just purchased a set of those heads and still have alot of emails with people offering those heads to me,I could forward them to you and you can arrange everything else.Let me know if you interested.
24. go with 72 350 heads, they have smaller combustion chambers and already has hardened ex. seats in them. That will bring your compresion up and no one will tell a diference(unless you look at the numbers).the heads you have now probobly 79cc chambers,72 heads have 64cc,compression up.....power up !so this would be one sugestion for now.
25. I don't know about the rest of you guys but POR15 rules!!! It's an amazing product,I have used myself on my trunk and floors(under the carpet)http://www.por15.com check it out yourself,it really works(bit pricy though, but how much is a new trunk pan and the time to replace it?????)you make the choice!
