1. To the 15 DB engine. Not my airplane as I am posting here and not in the aviation blog.....
2. Does anyone have instructions for proper timing for this magneto? My google search has failed! Thank you, John Liken 1915 DB Touring
3. A few more images from the early days (20 yrs ago when I first got her)
4. A few years back, my DB hood was removed from a restoration shop (ripped off in the middle of the night by owner). I now have to have a new hood fabricated. A very generous "Brother" has provided me a lower side panel so that I can have another made from that. He also has a newer top panel. It was pointed out to me: The early hood details are a little different than the post-1916 hoods, in particular the way the top panels overlap the side panels at the side hinge point. The later hoods butt together at that hinge point. If some of you with early cars can send me some detail photos, it would be greatly appreciated. By the way, my car is a 15 Touring with frame #4987. There is some evidence that the body was switched at some point, possibly due to collision as the fender/head lamp position and cowl do not appear to match the engine and chassis - but that will be the topic of a different post.
5. The picture shows 3 bolts. I am particularly interested in finding a source for the bottom one. It is from the rear hub. The sided thread is distal whereas the longer side goes through the hub, spokes, brake drum and attaches to a flat nut. All told, I need about 6 of each to complete my wheels but the bottom bolt is the real challenge. John
6. Good observation Keiser31. I just logged in to catch up and found that I hadn't been on in 6 months. I typically remember to catch up when I encounter a problem too. My 15 touring is still not complete after 23 years. Thanks to Joe in SD, I was able to get my car finally off my own street earlier this year. I like most, work full time + and have limited funds. Further aiding in the delays are people in the restoration business who say they can help and really just want to help you loose some weight in your bank account. I long for the day that I can take my car out to breakfast on the weekend and drive to car shows, not for judging but for the fun of it. I also know of the temptation to modernize my restoration from time to time. I have kept my car completely original, with the exception of installing an air pump from an aquarium into the fuel air line so that I can prime the air pressure in the fuel tank without relying on the worn out hand pump. That is it, but the thought has sure crossed my mind out of desperation in wanting to drive this. If my car was not so old, I most likely would have yielded to the ease of new and better parts in order to finish and enjoy but I just can't.
7. Sorry it took me a year to answer! I guess I get the DB Blues in January when the weather reaches 80 degrees in San Diego . I searched the web, and made a few phone calls to Warsaw but had no luck finding these guys. Not much driving of my car still. I need some bolts and nuts for my split rims as I am just as uncomfortable driving it as Joe was without all of the bolts. I am now looking for advise on what to use for a electric fuel pump and regulator for the Dodge. Any suggestions anyone? Thanks in advance
8. Thank you to both Joe and Doug. To my surprise, I have been working on this car for 19 years. Joe is top notch club member. Too many times I have called people around me for help in learning the double clutch or figuring out problems, but no one has ever offered to come by the house. Thank you Joe! And nice job on the pics. The 15 (frame # 4987) looks pretty good on the web. Doug, thanks for your tips. I took off the clutch access plate, but cannot get to the leather faced clutch. It was really fun getting off of my street and taking it around the neighborhood. Last weekend, I worked up the courage and took my wife, grand-daughter and dogs for a ride around also. Now in full on finish this car mode. Ordering new tires and looking for at least one "new" split rim to replace one in not so good of shape. Thanks again gentlemen! John
9. I am in need of a car cover for my 15 DB Touring. My house is undergoing a remodel and the car has been moved to the driveway. Needs protection. Has anyone had one made so I can find a company that has a pattern? Thanks John MrLiken@aol.com

11. If you find the source of your leak, would you let me know. My 15 touring also leaks from the new head gasket. I have been very careful in torquing down the head bolts, because there is no real reference for the amount of torque to use. The mechanics manual says to draw it tight or something to that effect, without giving a measurement. Thanks, John MrLiken@aol.com
12. Brick, I just came upon your post. I hope all went well with your last leg of the race. I talked to you in Chula Vista on the last night and have the 15 touring. You and your uncle were an inspiration to me and I am getting ever closer to finishing my DB. Thanks for putting such a wonderful car in the race for all of us to enjoy.<BR>John
