It will be interesting to see what the SS brings, right?  One of our truly collectible holy grail cars, with absolute minimal mileage ala 1976 Cadillac Eldorados and 1987 GNX's.  But - the room will not be filled with people who care a whole lot, in my opinion.

I will bet it sells for $15,000 - unless one of us, like a Marck Barker type or such - spies it and bids on it.  But if there are not Reatta geeks in the crowd maybe even bidding against each other, then I think it's a $15,000 hammer.

Compare that to most modern collector cars with the pedigree of a 1 of 60 production and the differences between the "normal" rare Reatta and a SS, and the other cars would likely sell for much more.   I am interested to see if this SS goes over $20K.

I just checked the auction results and the Select Sixty  SOLD for $ 25,850.00... I thought it would have sold for more with only 240 miles...

  2. On the docket for Thursday January 18th!  A no reserve auction... hope to see encouraging bidding.

Lot #633 - One of 2,132 convertibles built in 1990, this Reatta is powered by a GM 3800 V6 engine backed by automatic transmission with a fully independent suspension and front-wheel-drive. This car has been shown at two concours events and has been climate-control garaged its whole life. The front windshield, brakes, battery, wheels, and tires are all in great condition and the non-smoking interior has been well maintained. The paint has been regularly polished and waxed, and shows very well with the original white convertible top. With 14,366 original miles, this vehicle has had no previous collision damage and includes a protective, chip-resistant, padded vinyl front end bra and custom-fit car cover. Highly detailed undercarriage.

Anyone know the particulars about this pin which is listed on EBay #3621701966? Picture shows "Interstate Batteries Great American Race". Nicely appointed pin in blow up picture with Reatta convertible......

Here is a must newer listing for a 1989 Great American Race pin on Ebay:

At the request of several other Riviera owners, I worked with the trophy shop owner to get a more precise reproduction plate (dimensions more accurate with the original). Here's the final result:

If anyone else is interested in a similar plaque, here's what you do:

    1) Get permission to use the Riviera logo for your private use. I contacted the GM Heritage Center and they have no problem with people using copyrighted GM material for personal use. You can email Peggy Kelly at margaret.p.kelly@gm.com and request a "No Objection to Use" form. Be sure to include details of what you intend to do and clearly state that this is for personal use.

    2) Contact the Trophy House in Burnsville, MN (3140 Highway 13 W., Burnsville, MN 55337). I worked with J. Kevin Kennedy at info@trophyhouseonline.com. If you mention the Riviera plate, he'll know what you are talking about. He will need the name you want on the plate and he'll send you an electronic proof to verify before producing anything. Cost will be around $25 plus shipping.

I'm very happy with the reproduction plate and I hope this helps a few others get their own custom plaque. If anyone has any questions, I'd be glad to try and help.

Do you think a reproduction for the Reatta owners portfolio nameplate could also be done?  I am looking into getting a photo of an original to see the dimensions and script of the nameplate.  The quality of the Riviera nameplate that the trophy-house created was excellent!

  5. Has anyone been able to set up a reproduction of the engraved portfolio nameplate true to original form?  Does anyone have a photo of the exact script / look and dimensions of the original?

I was able to have one done on the Riviera years ago through the process and assistance/help of SilverRiv63 on the Riviera forum(see post below) & would like to look into going through the same process for the Reatta Owners portfolio but need the exact information for the nameplate.

    Thanks!!

  6. I got my name plate in the mail and put it on my console.....it looks great! Thanks

for getting these plates tooled up!

I received mine last week and installed it over the weekend. Looks Great! Thanks for getting this endeavor started, I really appreciate your foresight to make this happen. The Trophy House was also very professional to deal with.

  7. Thanks for the offer DAVE89: I found a remanfactured part from this company.... http://www.suncoreindustries.com/

installed and was just about a plug and play replacement that seems to be working just fine for the past week so far.... Just could't find a NOS OEM part and was hesitant on one from the yard because to install these the rear suspension needs to be dropped to get to the compressor and did not want to go take all that time to just have to replace again too soon....

  8. Hey Dave! Thanks for the help and and Keep Traveling in your GREAT Riviera... Mine now has about 100,000 miles less than yours @ just 54,000 BUT still driving when I can.... I found a replacement part from this company... if you or anyone is interested and can't find an OEM...... http://www.suncoreindustries.com/

  9. Part # 22049808

Anyone know where to locate part # 22049808. I ordered it on GM Parts direct last week BUT received an email today that it was no longer available...The dealership gave me the option to replace the rear suspension with new struts that are sealed but I like and want to keep the auto level option... Any points in the right direction are appreciated.

.... Also if I pull mine out that is shot can it be rebuilt if necessary and does anyone know who can/will do it?
