  1. I agree Harry and I intend on purchasing one...

I did find the problem however.

The black hard plastic line coming off of the check valve was routed flush against the firewall and wrapped around the bottom half (like a half moon) of the wiper motor on the firewall where it protrudes, and then on to the harness that goes thru the firewall. The hose to the firewall appeared ok on first look but I had to find something - on second look the hose at the apex of the half moon wrap around on the protruding wiper motor appeared just a tiny tiny bit thinner. I pulled the hose or better stated tubing away from the wiper motor and it was somehow melted slightly causing the restriction - weird and very hard to see..... I snipped the damaged section out, and joined the two sections with a piece of slightly larger tubing - blowing nicely from the vents now

Thanks Harry, Ronnie, Padgett and 2seater - help is greatly appreciated....

    Nic

  2. Thanks 2seater....I entered a post earlier and apparently it did not post??? I did have some bad lines from the ck valve to the cruise and wanted to replace but was told not applicable - kind of knew better. Soooooo I had some vacuum line on hand and I just replaced the long line from the check valve to the tee, and then the two shorter lines to the cruise control unit and canister - all were deteriorated. Disconnected the hand vacuum pump and refitted the line under the glove box - still no air out of the vents. Has good flow to the defroster and the heater vents. The hard plastic line from the check valve going in to the cowl looks good. Do the check valves go bad?

Also is it possible for the hard plastic line to go defective - if so I have no idea where to buy that type of tubing....how would you run it - would you have to drill a hole in the firewall?

  3. Hi again Folks,,,

I think I may have a big problem..... A friend came over last night and followed the instructions both here and some that Padgett sent me in a PM. We checked for loose hoses and connections. The only way we got the a/c functioning was a vacuum pump was connected to the black vacuum hose at the HVAC Programmer unit below the glove box (the type of hand vacuum pump also used to bleed brakes etc), the pump was pumped approximately 12 times, and the a/c blew out the proper dash vents very cold and "great - big time". Does this mean the I /we will have to replace the vacuum line to the programmer unit from all the way from the engine compartment through the firewall or could the unit be bad or some other part be mal functioning please?

    Thanks,

    Nic

  4. THANKS RONNIE ! .....No I have not been doing any repairs on the car other than replacing the a/c compressor (overdue on maintenance etc as well), but I will pull the glove box and have a look-see tomorrow for sure. Thanks for the heads up :). It has been more than several years since I have done any work on the cars, and some of these procedures are coming back to my hurting memory. Is this the single line that goes to the BCM that is kind of below the glove box maybe - comes off when replacing the ECM?

    Nic

  5. Thanks zoltanb and Ronnie. I found the one that zoltanb sent me, and I think that is the one that the shop ordered and is not appropriate for the repair (has the slanted studs). I think Ronnie may have found the correct one. Only problem is the shop is closed this weekend of course. The correct mount is still needed, and I will forward Ronnie's find to the shop Monday and advise you folks of outcome. Really appreciate the time and effort guys.... :)

    Thanks,

    Nic

**** I also still need some help with my immediate problem of cold a/c air only coming out of the defrost and heater vents on my 1990 model - no center vents. Please see my later or above post on a/c problem. I have checked the vacuum hoses and they seem to be ok....

    Thanks,

    Nic

  6. Just had the a/c compressor replaced on my 1990 convertible, and I am without air from the center vent - blowing out of the defroster and heat vent on the floor. I think I recall some repair procedure from waaaay back in time that had to do with an adjustment procedure to the cable behind the glove box or some vacuum repair to a door in the dash or connection - can someone please refresh my memory....?

    Thanks,

    Nic

  7. Hi Folks,

I need some help with a Rivi part. I have posted this on the Rivi Forum as well, but I have found out that this mount is an extremely hard to find part and need all the help I can muster - someone here might be able to help as well. I have some friends at a shop that need a engine mount for a 92 - part number 22113021. They researched and ordered a mount locally, but what they received was totally different. From what I understand the original part needed has 2 top and 2 bottom "straight" bolts or studs and the replacement that they received had "slanted" or bolts/studs on an angle. Any help in giving me some ideas of where to look for the correct mount will be greatly appreciated....

    Sincerely,

    Nic Walker

  8. Hi Folks,

I am off of the Reatta Forum and need some help with a Rivi part. I have some friends at a shop that need a engine mount for a 92 - part number 22113021. From what I understand the original part needed has 2 top and 2 bottom "straight" bolts or studs and the replacement that they received had "slanted" or bolts/studs on an angle. 9. Thanks for the reply Corvanti ...... I didn't think I was dreaming. I knew I had the #8s for something related to the Reatta.

***Does anyone know the difference or which plug # is better for the 3800 engine....the #3s or the #8s Please?????? (Padgett told me #3s for the Magnavox)

  10. Question folks...

I have a set of #8 Delco plugs........ Sometime waaaay back when I think I ordered/received the set of 6 #8 Delco Plugs for a Reatta application (and still have them - never used the plugs). I can not remember what the application was for. #3s are for use with a Magnavox coil and #14s are for a Delco coil - does anyone remember what I bought the #8s for please?

    Thanks,

    Nic

  11. Jeff,,,

Geeeeze thanks Sir....Waaaay better photographs. You have gone way "beyond the call of being nice and helpful"....really :) . And that piece/sectioned featured in the pictures definitely appears to be my problem piece/section of "jute". How in the heck I removed it must be amazing as I honestly did not remove the left or drivers seat - only the passenger seat. I did remove the sill mouldings and the center part of the seat belt on/near the tunnel. Since the jute was soaked up to the center tunnel I had to section or tear the floor portions of the jute (since I did not remove the left seat, trim and carpeting) so that I could dry. The long piece of jute in question would have been soaked as well for me to have removed it, and I am wondering if it was just soaked and slippery enough that it slide or I was able to pull it out???? If you could get back to me if the '89 vehicle you are going to dismantle this weekend is different it would be greatly appreciated. If the 89 is not different I will just have to remove all of the interior (both seats and all carpeting) to refit everything properly. This car is in excellent condition with only 43000 miles - only has some paint flaking on the fiberglass panel under the front bumper so I want to put everything back properly.

    Thanks Again,

    Nic

  12. Jeff,,,

Thanks so much for posting the pics. I had to re install the seat in order to get the car State Inspected, and viewing your pictures without the seat removed for reference is a little difficult - I am having trouble finding a reference point. I think I can make out the 3 X 5" cut out of the piece itself in the upper right hand corner of the 1st picture. You mention "door to door" in a previous post and "horizontal" . I can't figure out how I would have removed the piece of jute if it was running under the drivers seat as I didn't remove the drivers seatt????? I guess I am still in the dark or confused. I really appreciate your help.......I am looking at the piece again and will send a PM....

    Nic

  13. Thanks for the replies folks.....

I am somewhat - no... a lot confused now. Yes the Looooong straight and rectangular piece is actually 2 pieces glued together with one piece not as wide as the other - But I don't believe-think it was under both seats...just the passenger seat (I only removed the passenger seat and the "jute" underneath that seat). I had to get this vehicle Virginia State Inspected last night, and had to reassemble everything (except the jute of course) because of the law and the seat belt. I havent re installed the plastic trim as yet though. If you could provide a picture next week that would be absolutely fantastic !!! And Greatly appreciated - please advise, and

    Thanks,

    Nic

    Hi Nic,

I just pulled the carpet from my 91 and wish I could send or post pics but can't until next week. What I think you have was stuck together because there's no separate pieces that run along the sill's. The ones that fit and are cut like the footwells are actually two pieces glued together and the long rectangular piece (sounds like what you describe) runs horizontally across the middle and partly under the plastic wire channel. This is the channel that houses the power seat wires and runs under both driver and passenger seats. It sort of abuts the shifter mechanics. If I can correctly recollect, about an inch is tucked under the wire channel and the rest fits perfectly in front of a raised cross member. Take it out of the sill area and flip it to run across the car from door to door and you will probably be able to see what I mean.

  14. Thanks for the reply/post Barney. I didn't think about a Rivi being the same. Only problem is finding a wrecking yard that has a Rivi (the yards around my location only trade with late models several years back). There is a yard in a town south of here I will try......Thanks again and great to hear from you.....

(I need to ask you a question and will send a PM)

  15. Hi folks...haven't been here for a while and need a little help if possible. Last summer I had a significant water leak in my 90 roadster. Still don't know what or where the leak was, but I had to remove the passenger seat and carpet trim, remove the "jute" sound deadening material under the carpet, and dry everything (the "jute" was like a sponge and was totally soaked-water logged). I am just re assembling the interior now, and my problem or what I need some assistance with is ....

I removed 3 sections of the "jute" and can remember or have re fitted two of the pieces....but there is the 3rd piece/section that is a long section that I can not remember exatly where or how it fits. The piece/section is 60.5" long and 10.5" wide (actually there are 2 layers to this piece with one attached on top of the other making up those demensions however one of the layers is 6.5" wide with the same length). I am fairly sure that it places or fits along the inside or flat against the inside of the door sill, but unsure how it fits. I guess it could fit in 4 different ways angles or directions. There is a "cut out" along one side that is 3" X 5" and if that places around the seat belt assembly that is fitted on the inside of the door sill the problem may be somewhat solved, but I am not sure. What further complicates the situation is IF the piece does fit along the inside of the door sill it is wide enough to where it should have 2 holes for the right side of the seat studs in the floor for the seat mounting and I can not find any holes anywhere on this piece of jute. I know this is an uncommon plea for help however any help at all/suggestions would be greatly appreciated and thanks......

(Considering the difficulty of trying to offer explanatory help in this situatuon I will provide my telephone number in an email if necessary)
