Were these Checkers designed this way to prevent them from being stolen?

Mint and cherry are ice cream flavors and should never be used to describe anything automotive, with the exception of paint colors.

Was the Mercedes fire before or after the Harrah restoration?

I remember seeing a video on this car when it was pulled from the garage it had been sitting in and the son got it running but that is the last I heard about it. I have a car my dad bought new and would never sell it even for that much money.
My Dad and I got along just fine, but for that kind of money I'd deliver his Roadster and my T Touring as fast I could get them there.

He has a great outlook on life, hope all his vehicles behave well.

For that kind of money you could get a nice 3rd place winner from Pebble Beach

Whenever the time comes to junk the cars under the covers the owner will wonder why he bothered to keep them in the first place.

This muffler shop has been in business for over 50 years
Do the math, 3-4 feet of pipe you don't have to buy mounts up over time.

Check the cost of the bridge tolls they are not all the same.

Newberg Bridge connects you to I84 and that takes you right into Waterbury.

Two nails for a wall hanger, gas and time to the scrap yard ate any profit in the recycling. The original Ira Vail Hudson was a 6 cylinder powered car, now in Samsung corporate headquarters auto collection.

Need to find something hard. This is child’s play.
Thank you, your quick reply saved me the search for the Harrah Duesenberg owners list, he owned the Thunderbird that ran on Lake Tahoe as well . Was he responsible for the line "Know when to hold them, know when to fold them." in 1929?

First period photo I've ever seen of the Compound, restored by Harrah's it is now in the Fountainhead collection in Alaska.

Somewhere there is a video of the nuts being produced.

The Model T Ford is full of castle nuts, the "slotted nuts" came later, for some reason I first noticed then on tie rod ends.

I'm happy with my lifestyle, couldn't live in others. Hemmings Motor News was a big part of my early days in the hobby. Back in the early 1960's you were given a copy by someone locally that figured you might be interested in the hobby. Sure, I kept it, I can find it in less than an hour, but that doesn't matter to those that throw away keepsakes. They were little magazines back then, the size of "Little Pages" Hot Rod magazines that were popular on the news stands. Bought my first car a 1926 T Tudor from a Hemmings ad and had it delivered on New Years Day 1967, great deal for $220.00. The new stuff took over and I dropped Hemmings 30 years ago or so. Great while it meant something to me, that is why all the old issues are still with me.

Do you mean at the junction of the hood in the cowl?
Yes, The hood has a rolled bead above the side hinge, door had a belt molding and the cowl has none. I never noticed that before. The show photo has a refection that looks like there is a connecting bead at an odd angle.
-
^^^^^^^^^^^^ Nice for the cars history, but the lack of a cowl belt line bead just jumps out an something missing.

Congratulations! In honor of this event I would hope the Stutz engine would be running soon.

I remember reading about Reuters in one of Ken Purdy's books about 50 years ago. Still have a couple of his books and re read them occasionally.
Ken Purdy was one of our customers too, he lived two miles down the road from me. He was always Mr. Purdy, I never felt comfortable addressing him as Ken. That line in Kings of the Road with the MERCER firing one cylinder per telephone pole had to have taken place on the straightaway on Rt33 just before his house. I think of him, his MERCER , and that ride every time I'm on it.

To bad it smells bad, but it's a cool looking touring car. I would have to paint the hood red too. My 15 Model T had a aluminum hood, but I
painted it too.
Wheel size looks too small, and the top is odd looking.

The hinges are ball type. A ball is captive between the two halves sockets with a bolt through the center. Very French. If you zoom in on the attached Bugatti photo you’ll see the best photo I could find showing this type of hinge. In the late 1980’s I found a French firm who had the tooling for the hood hinge to Bugatti. They still cataloged this type of ball hinges for use on commercial vehicles.
The MG-TC used a hinge like that, guess the Pre WWII models did too. Always liked that body style on the Bugatti. Bob
