You will be resetting the computer when you disconnect the battery before starting the procedure.

It's under the two square grilled holes in the middle of the top of the dash. Not a difficult part swap, just be carefull not to crack the dash top when removing it. And yes it requires my favorite tool a T-15 Torx. I'll take a pic of my old one and post it so you know what it looks like. Mine came out of a junk yard Riviera. if you happen to have the windshield out it's a breeze.
-
Possibly the sun load sensor. I replaced mine and all the dash lights and dimmer work fine now.

For lots of answers. Look HERE

Aren't you glad you bought that T-15 Torx, uh huh, you'll need it for the IPC also.

Barney repairs/sells antennas, check with him.

Find a similar vehicle on ebay, watch it until it's sold, good ballpark figure for what you can get for yours, Don't want to wait that long, display closed auctions and see what they have gone for in the near past.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body"> After you remove the two screws at the vents, you may also want to remove the two screws that just may be above your instrument display. They were in mine, don't know if it came from the factory that way but I came close to snapping some plastic before I found these.
Good Luck </div></div>

A T-15 Torx screw at the top of each heat/AC vent and them it just pulls out. Same T-15 Torx to remove the screws holding the radio and ECC head in.

I do seem to remember seeing something about not upshifting HERE. It should also be in the TSB's on the cd.

As I said in a previous post, what you are looking for is a T-15 Torx bit or driver. Bit fits a ratchet and driver looks like a screwdriver. You can get a driver that has reversable tips, usually T-10, T-15 and T-20, T-30.
-
I think what you want is a set of TORX bits, kinda like allen wrenches with flair. T-15 will be your most used, rear struts use a T-50. Your problem could be the Sun Load Sensor, I just replaced mine and all the dash lights work and even dim at night. It required a T-15 among other tools.

Try the search function ( but extend the search range to more than just a week ). A lot of solutions with various degrees of success.

Actually it's a little over 1560 pages difference, I know that for a fact, I scanned the big one, all 1566 pages. I also have an earlier 1990 only P&I, a lot less pages but model year specific.

Wild guess, fuel filter maybe.

Obtain a FSM ( Factory Service Manual ) a P&I ( Parts & Illustrations ) is also a good reference tool. Now the important stuff is out of the way, break relays, since it's a ragtop, visor clips, horn buttons, maybe an IPC ( Instrument Panel Cluster aka dash ), sun load sensors wouldn't hurt as well as any of the quirky little electronics. A spare set of bushings for the headlights. oh by the way, go HERE for headlight repair instructions. On with the list, trunk lock, extra remote. While you are gathering all this up look for a 90 - 93 Riviera and get the wood grain dash and console panels. A can of Rat Shack tuner cleaner and a old toothbrush is always handy when "exercizeing" connections. The worst offender is the ECC ( Electric Climate Control ) head, it took three shots at it to get mine to behave. Any body panels or glass you can squirrel away will help at resale time if you haven't used them first. Most any switch can and will eventually wear out. Just think the ragtop doesn't even have a sunroof to contend with.

This may help.

For about $1200 you could try THESE .

Check THIS out. www.reatta.net has lots of good info.

CRT Cathode Ray Tube aka touch screen
aka Also Know AS aka something else it's called

I would suggest trying the SEARCH function up there near the top of the page. I would also increase the seach range to 6 months or a year, maybe even all posts. Lotsa posts on this in the past.
