  1. I have pm,ed contact info to BJM and First Born, let me know if it didn't come through.
  2. In todays economy, I think he's a little high. He probably has that and then some into them when he bought them and transported them. He make take less, or he may not. He wants to sell all three as one deal. If he can't do that, then he said he may sell off individual cars or start parting them out. I'll pm you his contact info.
  3. Met a local guy who has three 1950 Buicks that he would like to sell. Model 41D Complete car, floor boards are rusted out, Dynaflow trans. He says that it does run. Stored inside. Model 51. Very solid car, partially disassembled for a repaint. Appears to all be there. Said that it did run. 3 speed manual trans Has a very nice window air conditioner hanging on the window, would not sell separate, but will use it as his "bargaining chip" Model 52 South Carolina tag on car, stored outside, very rough exterior. needs total resto. Has a Mercury under dash A/C unit, with compressor. The man wants $6500 for all three, does not want to separate and sell at this time, but money talks. Cars are located in Elkhart IN area. If interested, pm me and I will forward his name and #
  4. I think your'e in the ballpark. Wish you lived closer. I would like to see the car up close and personal.
  5. Not knowing the part, but the situation, could you sleeve the part. Have a machine shop bore it and resleeve it?
  6. The question is, what are you willing to take for it? You know what you paid, what would you be willing to take for it?
  7. I went today to see a 26 Buick model 51. The gentleman that showed me the car, had received it as part of his inheritance from his father. His father had started the resto, but never finished. The main body is on the chassis. The fenders running boards are off. The car has 38,000 miles on the odometer, and is in solid shape. We found the trunk, radiator shell, radiator, and pieces to the bumper. Could not find the hood?? This is truly a basket case. His father had stated that the car was 95-98% there. My deliemma is how do I tell, and what is it worth. I tried to get a solid price out of him, but all he would give me is "I don't really know what it is worth." So I guess my question to the board is, how available are the knick knack parts. ie knobs switches, trim and so on? The dash and interior looks to be complete, including the pull down rear shades. Does anyone have a hood available, how much? Will parts from the Standard fit the Master? Will 25 or 27 parts fit? And lastly what would be a good price for the car? Is it considered a #5 or a #4 If anyone has an Old Cars Pricing guide I would appreciate a pm with the values. I'd hate to see this car go to a hotrodder, not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's not my intent. I do have some pics from and e-mail that he sent, if anyone would want to see them.

  9. Spotted this ad in the local craigslist. 1937 Buick Sedan Got ahold of the sellers son, and went to go see. This is a model 41 4 dr trunk back sedan. I would say about 90 % there. Missing a few trim pieces and what not. Could not see much of the car, pass side and trunk only. Stuffed in a garage right up next to a 57 chevy. Pass door had some rust in the bottom , rear door seemed to be solid. Rear corners next to the lights had cracked bondo. Seller stated he had an extra motor and trans, 4 more doors, front end parts ie. steering geometry. Asking prices was $5000, but said he would take $4000 cash. They are moving and needs to sell by Sept 1 Car is located in Nappanee IN. Overall seemed to be solid, seller said that it did run when he put it in the garage. If anyone ids interested, I can pm son's cell# to you.
  10. Another bump New Email buick1950mod46d@comcast.net Make offer!
  11. First thing, did you remove the centering bolt that holds the drum on? I know, it may sound stupid. Next, take a hammer and gently pound on the edge facing out, around the outside ring. Sometimes rust will hold it on like that. A few gentle taps should take care of it. Next prybars. Did you have the drum s turned, otherwise there may be a lip inside holding things in place.
  12. Well if the Old Guy says it'll be ok, I'll scratch it off the list. I always carry a spare set, inner and outer, just in case.
  13. This may have been covered in the past, I tried searching, but couldn't find anything. We are hoping to drive the 50 out to Ames IA for the 2010 meet. 450 miles give or take. We want to run out old US30, as that it is only 5 miles from the house. Scenic tour, off the beaten path, not too many towns, once you get past all of Chicago area, not a good place to break down. Anyway I want to convert the front wheel brgs from ball brg to roller brg. Anyone do this, any insight?
  14. It's been about ten years since I had mine apart, but you are correct. 2 valves pull fuel in and 2 expel to the carb. They work as check calves. one way flow only. You have to take the pump apart and follow the flow of fuel through it, and plave the valves in the correct orientation.
  15. Glad to see that you found this thread again Mr. Earl. I would have loved to have the 13 in my garage. If indeed it was, I would have flown you up here, to go for a ride.
  16. The outer seal should go with "cone" or tapered part facing in, so that the axle doesn"t try to fold it over when you slide it in. If you are getting fluid past the outer section of the seal and housing, clean housing and put a very small amount of silicone sealent in before you install the seal. Hope this helps.
  17. Congrats. Enjoy that rascal. Take it out for a Sunday drive on a Wednesday. I always feel as if I'm in a different world when I'm behind the wheel of my 50. Also remember that you are now the caretaker of a 1950 Buick, and it is rewarding. Keep up the maintenance and enjoy driving her.
