  1. Brian, I always believed 225's came standard with outside rearview mirrors. I thought I had read that somewhere, but would need to check my sources. Tinted windows were optional, as our 225 does not have them. It's kind of odd to see a flat top with so much window area and without any tinting. As for the length of the car, my first impression was that the picture was not scanned properly. The dimensions seem to be slightly off, as this does not look quite as long as a 225. Maybe Buick was planning on making this the largest car before thinking of the 225 (hence the missing emblems)? I very highly doubt the car is sitting on 14 inch wheels. Buick used to pride themselves for having 15 inch wheels as standard equipment, and I doubt they would stray from that on their flagship model. Rear deflated airbags are a possibility to the lower stance of the car, but that wouldn't explain the lower front end. The car does seem to be level, considering the floor pan behind the front wheel and in front of the rear wheel. I had read in a GM book once that preproduction versions always sat lower to the ground to give the car a longer look. It was done intentionally just to play with the consumers minds. I've seen those gimicks with the late 50's Cadillacs as well.
  2. Brian, it looks like the car is also missing the radio antenna and driver's side door mirror. Is it just me or does it also look like the driver's door is missing the keyhole?
  3. I'm looking for a good, reputable vendor that someone here can recommend to buy some front suspension parts for our '59 Electra 225. I mainly need to find the lower balljoints and new springs, but decided on doing a complete front end rebuild since the mechanic will have most of it apart anyway. Right now I'm looking at Kanter Auto Parts, unless someone else can chime in and recommend someone else. Thanks, Roupin
  4. Bruce, thank you very much. I called Napa and they said they don't carry it. I'll call them again and hopefully I get someone who at least knows their products!
  5. THe fan clutch on my Riviera went out and I can't find any local stores who have one in stock. It is a 64 Riviera with the 425 CI motor and Air Conditioning. Is this the right part? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayIS...sspagename=WDVW Thank you.
  6. John, the 225 that we just bought is currently at a restoration shop getting all the stainless polished. They are working very very slowly on the car but we don't mind since we know that they do exceptional work. Once the car is on the road, I will snap some beautiful pictures for your website. In the meantime, here are some pictures that I took on the first day... http://www.regionofdoomforum.com/Images2/34.JPG http://www.regionofdoomforum.com/Images2/46.JPG http://www.regionofdoomforum.com/Images2/45.JPG http://www.regionofdoomforum.com/Images2/38.JPG http://www.regionofdoomforum.com/Images2/26.1.JPG Brian, I asked my dad and he said that he bought the car at the end of 1965. The Triple Turbine was slipping and he had it repaired. That rebuild lasted until 1968 when it started slipping again after my dad was involved in a long uphill race where he blew the doors off a Pontiac. Apparently one of his friends showed up with a 1952 Pontiac and kept badmouthing Wildcat motor in the Buick. They picked a destination point and raced to see who would get there first. The Buick got there 1.5 minutes earlier than the Pontiac over a 10 mile range. To this date my dad's friend still can't figure out how he lost. Unfortunately, a few weeks later that transmission died again. Back in the days the Triple Turbine rebuild parts were very hard to acquire in Jordan. Just to give you an idea about parts availability, the parts were ordered and arrived 2 months later. My dad sold that car in 1970 when there was a Civil War in Jordan and he moved here. After that we heard that the car was sent to Turkey and the transmission would not catch reverse. I don't know what happened after that, although I truly hope someone still has it and it wasn't scrapped. I do have pictures of the car that I will have to scan to my computer. I will post them here sometime next week.
  7. Today I was looking at the pics that Brian (Centurion) posted of Martin's Electra 225. I was instantly reminded of my dad's first 225 since it's EXACTLY the same car....well....almost. It had the same color combination as Martin's car and we both got a kick out of seeing a clean BLACK 225 flat-top. The only difference was that the interior of my dad's car was all stiched in genuine LEATHER. I know some of you are now going to point out that the seats never came in genuine leather. And here's the very cool part. My dad's 225 was originally ordered from Buick by the uncle of the (then) King of Jordan. It was his personal car that he drove for one whole year before he gave it to a close (and very wealthy) friend of his. Yes, you read it correctly, he bought a new car every year. The second owner had the car until 1966 when my dad happened to see it at a Mechanic's shop getting the Triple Turbine transmission rebuilt. My dad then went and located the chauffeur, bribed him, and had him convince the owner that the car will just be a huge problem from here on and will keep breaking down all the time. So my dad bought the car in 1966. It was black on tan leather interior, Wonderbar radio, Triple Turbine, Power antenna and Power seat. Oddly, the only option it did not have was Power windows. I just thought that was interesting and I should share. Seeing Martin's 225 brought back some stories and pictures that I've seen and heard. After all these years, we finally found a clean one and about 2 months ago took delivery of a Wedgewood Blue 225 flat-top. Martin, these boats are awesome!! Enjoy it!!
  8. Wildcat, I sent you an email about the picture of the mirror last week. I haven't heard from you though. If you have a picture of the mirror I would appreciate it. Thank you.
  9. I'm looking for either a single or pair of original 1959 Buick Door Mirrors. The mirror lens on the one that came on the car is not original, therefore I'm looking for either a single or pair of original mirrors.
  10. As you guys may have already seen, we bought a '59 Electra 225. Now the car is currently in the shop just getting some parts cleaned up. Two parts on the car which look substandard to the rest of the car are the chrome taillight bezels and the backup light housings. If there is a NOS part, all the better, otherwise I'm looking for some clean used parts. I searched through hemmings and Ebay but didn't come up with anything. I've called all the yards listed in Hemmings who were parting out a '59, and nobody had them. Anyone have any of these parts laying around, or may know where I can find them?
  11. Yes, you are correct. I didn't look at the valve stems or hubcaps. Personally, I think the rear roof section of these cars and the wagons should have been slightly rounded off to better match the rest of the shape of the car. Looking at them from the back, the whole roof section and side windows give a squarish feel to the car. That's just my opinion though. Let the flames begin
  12. Brian, I think the "ambulance" and "hearse" in your post (3rd and 4th pictures) are actually 2 different cars. The ambulance (4th photo) seems to have a chrome insignia on the front fender, and is also missing the upper part of the curtain on the rear passenger window (2nd window). I could be wrong about the insignia though taking into consideration any reflection that could hide it. Roupin
  13. If you guys remember, we recently bought a 59 Buick electra 225 flat-top. We just took the car to a restoration shop that we know to have them go through the brakes and polish all the stainless. We are also rechroming some small odds and ends around the car. Now, when the shop pulled the stainless trim off the fin, some of the clips holding the fin to the body broke. The guy doesn't want to pull the other pieces off the car yet since he is not sure how many clips we can find. I'm now looking for a good source where I can find more of those clips. Also, do you guys know if it is the same clip for the fins and the rest of the trim that runs all the way from the headlight to the center of the taillight (along the side of the car, of course). Thanks for your help. Hopefully we can get everything done as soon as possible so I can post some better pics!
  14. Oh that's hilarious because a few months ago I bought the movie just because of the car. It's a weak movie and I don't remember much from it, but it was nice seeing a Buick on camera!
  15. Yes Brian, this car is an unrestored original. The paint is all original and is in wonderful shape. The interior is also original and has no rips or tears in the seats. Here's the best part, the headlights and high beams are also all ORIGINAL. Did I mention the 32,736 miles (as of today)?
  16. Here it is. Once again perseverance pays off. The car arrived on Thursday and here are some pictures that I snapped after a quick wash and wax. I'll have some very detailed photos later on, but these will have to do until then. Some background information: This car was for sale in Florida and as soon as I called the seller to definitely hold the car for me, it was sold from right under us. I had been looking for a Flat-top 225 for a while now for my father. The seller was kind enough to give me the contact information of the buyer, and we made him an offer he couldn't refuse. I'm happy to say the car is now sitting comfortably in our garage
  17. Bring back the ROADMASTER!! It was a cool name and believe it or not, the younger people love it too. They think it's kinda cool having a car called the Roadmaster. If Buick is targeting the younger generation, shouldn't they at least be listening to us?!?
  18. Coupe or Sedan? Any rust? Pictures?
  19. I think it's not the same part. The Olds looks like it is wider near the rear just above the rear window. However, if I am wrong and someone knows that they are the same for sure, please let me know. Thanks.
  20. I'm looking for the chrome trim that fits over the Rain Channels (both sides) for a 1958 Buick Special 4 door. I found the wide chrome trim for the rear window in excellent shape from Ebay. Now I just need to find the chrome trim for the sides too. The car is coming back together so I'd like to get the parts quick. Any info or leads are appreciated. Thanks guys!
  21. Thank you John for the flyer. Steve, hope to see you there. You'll remember me when you see me. I also found a few more local shows through Hemmings, which I will be attending also. Hope to see you guys around again!
  22. I'm trying to find more info about the two car shows that I know would be coming up here in SoCal. The first is the All GM show at Woodley Park. The second is the Buick show at Pasadena. I would appreciate any info or links where I can find more info. Roupin
  23. Michel....that link is not working
  24. I'm looking for the rear speaker grill for a 58 Buick. It fits in the middle of the rear deck between the rear seat and the rear window. Does anyone know where I can find one?
