I see it has lots of uf ranges.  How is the test performed?

Simply select a range that corresponds to the capacitor being tested and connect the leads. If polarity is critical, red to + black to -. Read the value in uf or pf whatever is appropriate. It's like using an ohm meter. Directions are in the box...

That is, microfarad or picofarad, etc

  2. "assign the spots to another member" could mean that the current, vacant owner retains 'ownership' of the spot' but the spot gets re-assigned for one year. This would allow for legitimate vacancies you describe above. But just a caution -  if there are too many loop holes in the vacancy policy, the same situation would rear its ugly head...

  3. Steve, My solution to the vacancy rate at the flea market is simple, at least in my eyes, and I have been vending, non stop, since about 1985. Simply monitor the spots and if they remain vacant after a second year in a row, assign the spots to another member. No exceptions, period. This will take an effort and probably more volunteers, but after the second year of vacancy, that vendor must re-apply and start over.

  4. If you can produce a photo of the moving bell set-up, please show us. I have a 1928 Ford/Howe triple combination with the correct bell and removed the incorrect LaFrance bell from the truck some time ago. Niether bell is a 'moving bell' version, but both are 'moving clapper'. The 'moving bell'

set-ups are usually not intended for firetrucks but are used for parks and libraries. Also, I must agree with your observation that SPAAMFAA caters mostly to post WWII rigs.

  5. Maybe I missed something in the above posts, but I think we are talking apples and oranges. Many, it seems, are describing CONVERTIBLES, not CONVERTIBLE SEDANS. Convertibles have a top that can drop and has roll-up windows, NO REMOVABLE PILLAR. Convertible sedans have a top than can drop, roll-up windows and a removable pillar. The California Top mentioned above was fitted to a touring car that had NO roll-up window (side curtains only).

It wasn't until highways started to become a real transportation option in the early 1950s that higher speeds were necessary and it was at higher speeds that the flatheads had trouble keeping up.

That is, except the Hudson Super Six. They blew the doors off the Olds Rocket V8 at the 1953 Daytona 500....
