Which carb does the 38 use? I may have one. Dave packard12s@hotmail.com

Get one of the reprint parts books that cover the 35 - 41 cars, there is a hardware section that gives you the detailed specifications of all of the nuts, bolts, washers, etc. I think it is section 50. You will find a lot of specs there - most of the bolts had either no markings on the head or you will see some with small numbers like 30 - 37, or 2 B. These are not possible to find other than used. For a detailed restoration today we take modern bolts and put them in the lathe and cut the hardness markings off, then paint or plate them appropriately as original. It takes time to build up a supply of the original marked bolts to use in high end restorations, but if you look at a car and the bolts are all marked as they came from the hardware store, it doesn't look right. Some washers likewise aren't available and you will have to order something close and then put them in the lathe and make them the right size. If you need photos of correct original bolts, let me know. There are also some bolts with larger or thicker heads than typical modern hardware and you will have to hunt for those from the hardware companies.

I might have one of those. packard12s@hotmail.com

I am pretty sure that I have this NOS. packard12s@hotmail.com

I don't think that you will find a number on a 37 senior frame. You can tell an 8 from a 12 chassis by the wheels, brakes, and size of the front suspension components. It is somewhat hard to describe that if you haven't seen both, but I could tell you if you send me a photo. The wheels on a 12 are much wider - perhaps 8 inches or so, and much deeper in the center under the hub cap. The front crossmember of the frame is also heavier. The 12 should also have a front sway bar. packard12s@hotmail.com

The tail lights look like 1929. I might be interested in the generator - can you give me the number on the tag? I'm also interested in the battery charger. packard12s@hotmail.com

I have a 1936 Packard 12 convertible with the largest monograms that I have ever seen, they are delicate, but still about 4 inches across by 2 inches high, silver and made by a high end jeweler. It was always owner driven.

Won't the parts book answer these questions? I find lots of cars missing heat shields. Not saying that the 33s had them for sure, but just wondering.
-
The brackets look right. There should also be a heat shield between the muffler and the shock.

Good choice! You will like the 41, they are really nice cars to drive. I have a 41 convertible to go with my 35 too which I really enjoy, plus a couple other 41s besides, so I know 41s fairly well. Feel free to contact me if you need any advice or parts on the 41. Please post a photo!

This isn't a tough job, and not uncommon. I fixed one for a friend on his 40 120 last year and it doesn't take long. I have NOS gaskets if you want one. I too wouldn't use the new ones, but I would treat it with a spray on copper gasket coating. I can scan a torque sequence for you. Dave packard12s@hotmail.com

Actually, I did mean Restoration Supply in CA for the correct molding that goes around the edge of the top insert, or the leather on a formal.
-
Try Restoration Supply for the original type. If you want a modern tack strip that looks close to the original, there is one that is a two piece aluminum type which you can bend around the corners. The bottom piece screws on and holds the edges of the material and then the cover snaps over it.

There is a spring company in St Louis that can make them for you. They aren't that expensive and used ones may be flat anyway.

You could have some cheap repro bulbs from the orient in it. I have heard that they don't last. I have original bulbs if you need them. packard12s@hotmail.com

Not all 120CDs were 138 wheel base cars. I owned a nice original low mileage swb sedan for several years. It had a nicer interior with bedford cord seats, senior grade broadcloth on the rest of the interior, wood grained door trim ala Super 8, senior shift knob, shutter grill, senior tail lights, senior carpet, goddess ornament, banjo wheel, lighter, clock, rear lighter and special ashtray and perhaps some other things that I have forgotten.

K stands for Kam Lee company. There are a couple of different types of lining that were used, and it is a cloth, but it is embossed, usually blue. I have several trunks and can send you some photos. I don't know of anyone who reproduces it. packard12s@hotmail.com

Which series wheels do you need?

I can give you the phone number of someone with a 1401 who will measure it for you. Dave Mitchell packard12s@hotmail.com

Coker recently brought out a new series Firestone in 700 - 18, which is more period correct and sized accurately, you might check if they are making that tire in your size.

The Rollson/Rollston coupe has some Senior parts on it, like a 39 Super 8 hood sides, headlights, front bumper and tail lights so it may well not be a 120. Of course there is the Six rear bumper with the guards upside down, but that may just have been stuck on there.
