1. Hello!
Since last weekend I am the owner of a 1955 Buick Century. I would like to check the oil in the rear lever type shocks. But I don't know what kind of oil I have to use. Engine oil? Transmission oil? Special oil for shocks like for the Ford Model a Shocks?
How high must be the level of the oil in the shocks?
Who can help me?
Thanks in advance.
Tom

 2. Dear Ron.
I am going mad... Some month (January) ago I ask a friend if he would like to come with me to Hershey. He said he will think about it but he can't say it so earyl in advance. Ok, I can wait for an answer. Since he was not sure at the beginning of September, I asked my Girlfriend if she would like to come with me, but told here that it could be that my friend would like to come with me because I asked him first. She said, that she would like to come with me (probably, because such a trip is not very cheap). Ok, so I had two person but can take just one with me. Some days ago my friend told me that he has some healthy problems with his leg and that he can't make such a trip with a lot of walking.
Ok, no problem, I will fly with my Girlfriend. But what said she to me? It is too suddenly to get some holiday days from here Company, where she works for (Staples).
At the end, I am standing alone... (sigh). frown.gif" border="0 The problem is, that the costs for such a single trip increase about 40%. Since I decided to come (probably) in Mai/June for 3 two 4 weeks to USA, I have to save my money a bit. USA is expensive for Germans.
For the moment: I can't come (again) to Hershey because for me alone it is too expensive. frown.gif" border="0 My girlfriend said, that she will come next year with me to Hershey because she knows it then early enough. BUT: If I sell one expensive old car in the near future (could happen), I will decide to come to Hershey.
So, now you know all the true facts about it. smile.gif" border="0
Tom

 3. I am looking for a 1958 Cadillac 2d HT or 4d HT de Ville (No De Ville would be ok also but must have power windows) or Sixty Special. Can pay up to $ 8,000.- for a really good car.
I am only interested in very good cars with no work on it! No rust, clean authentic interior, complete car, very good paint, good chrome. Really good engine, transmission, front and rear suspension, tires, steering and so on. All equipment should work.
Please send offers to Borch1090@aol.com. Pictures would be great.
Tom

 4. Peter~~
Probably cylinder # 3 didn't worked, right? These cylinders often die after overheating because this is a typical problem at the 3rd cylinder. Result: No or very low compression.
Ron~~ Favorite German DFer? Is here another German? wink.gif" border="0grin.gif" border="0
Yes, would be nice to meet you during the day to say hello. At the evenings I am ready to sleep after such a day.
Until now I don't know if I can make it (as last year...) and who will come with me. A friend or my girl friend. I am such a lucky person because she loves old cars.
Tom

 5. Hi Don.
Thanks for your help.
This means for this car: Inside correct, outside not. Outside the car is white/red/white. Seems that I have a look at the car first in October because the guy is on holiday for a while.
But: Found here a 1955 Buick Roadmaster but this is just a 4d sedan.
Tom

 6. Scott, Dan.
Thanks for your help. I will see that I get the number.
The car has: white top, red in the middle and white at the bottom. Interior is red vinyl with gray vinyl or fabric inserts. Don't know the last one at the moment.
Tom
[ 09-05-2001: Message edited by: ThomasBorchers ]

 7. Hello Willie.
Thanks for the information. Well, it is not so bad if the car has a all venyl interior if it is a good work. Just wanted to know if it is correct or not.
Some years ago I owened a 1958 Impala which had not the original fabric inside. But this looked much better than the original.
The Century stands in Sweden. I am waiting for some photos of a car and if they are ok I will have a look at the car.
Tom

 8. Skyking, Don.
Thanks for your help, you two.
Well it seems that nobody knows what was original at this car. I have seen a 1955 Century station wagon which had all vinyl. Inserts also. Saw also normal Century with fabric inserts. So I am confused.gif" border="0 what is correct and what not. Sure is: As Convertible there was genuine leather available.
Tom

 9. Hi Scott.
I have information from the 1956 322 engine and it should be the same, I mean.
Firing order: 1-2-7-8-4-5-6-3
Number one is the closest plug to the front of the engine (radiator side) on the right side (if you sit in the car). # 2 is on the left side, the closest plug to the front of the engine. # 3 is on the right side just behind #1, # 4 on the left side just behind # 2 and so on.
With the timing I don't know if it is the same like in 1956.
Tom
[ 08-31-2001: Message edited by: ThomasBorchers ]

 10. Hello you all.
I can buy a 1955 Buick Century 2d HT. The seats are all artificial leather. I am not sure if this is correct for this car. I know the version that the seats had a combination of fabric and leather. Was there all leather (imitation) seats available for this car? Are there any photos online where I can see how it looks correct?
Thanks for your help.
Tom

 11. As Peter says:
There are to many years, body styles and conditions for these cars to say a value.
Send us: The year, body style and the condition and we can help you more.
Like: 1911 Ford Model T, touring, # 3 Condition or: a good but not perfect condition. If the car is all authentic or not is also important especially for the early years of the Model T.
Tom
[ 08-29-2001: Message edited by: ThomasBorchers ]
