  1. It's heavy, wife has same issue, its better if you go slow and grab at the bottom as everyone has suggested.
  2. I've followed this like a soap opera, and I'm glad your back up and running.
  3. Ok, final report, all together and working and I'm back on the road. I like the car but mainly do this so my son will learn problem solving, pride in work, etc. this time I think all he learned were new curses but I'm sure I'll have another chance. Thanks again.
  4. Hi Bob, I didn't see them until now. Thank you very much, I'm all set. However since I read them too late, I did end up cracking the windshield just like you warn not to do in your second sentence. So, I'm sure I'll be back for some advice about that issue next. Thanks again and if in the future anyone wants pics or the outstanding instructions, (or advice on how to crack your windshield, let me know).
  5. Ok, got the posts and the wiper motor out, before I proceed further, could someone take a look? Do I have the arms flipped the correct way, writing towards me? The longer arm on the passenger side? Assume the bushings with the holes are for the motor? Which goes on the motor first, the passenger side or the driver side?
  6. Hi, wiper motor is working, when I got under the plastic cowl, the two linkage arms had both come unattached from everything. I didn't see any plastic grommets. So quick questions. Is there an incorrect way to attach them? Can it be done without taking everything out first? On the motor, is there a single post or a post for each side? Any tips?
  7. A pic of the part in case it helps anyone else and a pic of me back on the road. Thank you both once again.
  8. oh man thank you thank you, taking this info to the shop Monday. Will report back.
  9. So, I have a brake fluid leak (not bad) and take my '89 to my local mech. and he says, the two black grommets that connect the reservoir to the master are cracked due to age, they have specific size lip/ridge so can't use generic. Over the past 7 weeks he has ordered 8 different versions bases on the VIN, none of them fit. Does anyone know the correct part number, where to order them, can I find a used version, can I find a working used reservoir and master? Any help is appreciated. Tom
  10. CW, I'm not allowed to message direct but I am interested.
  11. Hi, you are not getting expert advice, I'm in software, not a mechanic and I have an 89, but here is my experience. First off, I feel like what you are describing is what I felt when I first got it back from the shop. I had a rebuilt put in and was thrilled I could drive it but was NOT impressed with the stopping power. I realize I was comparing it to my wife's 2016 Kia, but still. About two weeks out of the shop I had to slam because of turkeys (I'm in CT and they just roam wild) and the old girl stopped like a champ. Slamming them seemed to bring out the best in the brakes. Now the next week I'm at a bbq with an actual mechanic and he says, the fluid level can be low if the pads are worn, i.e. it takes more fluid if the pads need to travel farther. I thought millimeters wouldn't matter but topped off and the everyday performance got noticeable better. I read on this forum that changing the fluid is the single most important step you can take for prevention so after 24 months I go back (again, I'm not a mechanic so I pay for one's expertise) and he drained and put in new fluid. Since then I think the stopping is better. I don't know that I will go every 2 years, or maybe I learn how to do it myself, but my brakes have gotten noticeable better with the new brake fluid/
  12. My '89 with auto gets 20 city and 28 highway, odd that they wouldn't have rounded up/lied about it but I guess you weren't worried about mpg in '89.
  13. Gentlemen, after Marty told me what it was and Hemi told me what it does and how it should work, it seems to be fixed. I bought a new one (inexpensive) and the goo my mechanic recommended (expensive). Put a little goo on the ridges, push it in and let it cure over night. Took it out for about an hour today and no issues that I can see. Hopefully this is done and again, thank you. I got this car on ebay two years ago, $2100 with soft brakes. Had it shipped for Kansas City to CT ($1,000) got the brakes from Andy Jaunuary. Had the mechanic install so that all total was approx. $2000. I put about 4k miles a year on it, mainly local, about 2 months ago put another $1,100 in to fix fuel pump and general tuneup. All told about a $7k car. The parts and labor are about what my wife's Kia has cost in that same time period so seems like I'm winning. I replaced the dash and the driver side light housing with ebay parts, fixed a turn signal, nothing other than that. The top lockdown stopped working so I use the manual.
  14. That sure looks like it, so get one, add the sealant and tap her back in? Why would it come out to begin with, I mean is this a signal I should be on the lookout for something else?
  15. Appreciate it, I'm googling away right now.
