  1. Being from Western Washington the only car fame guy I ever met was the late Harold LeMay who until his death had one of the largest private automobile collections in the world. Many of the 2500 vehicles in the original collection are now in the private LeMay Family Collection at Marymount School. A few others are at the LeMay-America's Car Museum in Tacoma WA.

Very nice ‘23 coupe. Much has been done. Super, nearly new rebuild motor and transmission. “Z” head, larger valves, aluminum pistons, “EE” crank, custom camshaft, E timer, rebuilt coils, new magnets and magneto coils, balanced flywheel and transmission gear sets. Steering gear box rebuilt, front end rebuilt, parking braked lined, AC accessory brakes relined. New wiring harness. Turn signals and brake lights added. 2 speed Ruckstell rear end. Carburetor rebuilt and early, better flow intake manifold installed. Working speedometer. More, I just can’t list it all.

What it needs: new starter stopped working, pawl on parking brake lever replaced, equalizer for the accessory brake

Very cool.......Was this from a magazine? That’s a single valve 45 horse power car on a 124 inch wheel base. Similar to mine, just a junior cousin.........my car is 14 inches longer in the chassis and 72 horse power. Amazing that no one I know of is familiar with this car in the photo.

Possible that one of these could be it?

  4. Roy Berrens, of Puyallup, photographed in May of 1969 with his 1916 White Touring car. Mr. Berrens has been restoring his seven-passenger White touring car for over a year. He first dismantled the car and overhauled the drive train and painted the frame. He spent the past winter restoring and painting the body, doors and dash and plans to restore the upholstery and top this coming winter. Eventually the engine will be overhauled. During the summer the White is reassembled so the Berrens family can take open-air spins. The White is a Model GED with a four cylinder 29-horsepower engine. The car weighs 4,700 pounds and contains two jump seats which added to the regular seating makes it a seven-passenger ride. The White Model GED is rarely seen as the vast majority of White products in that era were heavy duty trucks. Mr. Berrens' White was originally purchased by the Rainier National Park Co. as a park touring car. It was bought by Mr. Berrens in 1966 after it had spent 30 years in a Puyallup wrecking yard.

  5. Former heavyweight boxing champion Jack Dempsey (at left) posed with Allen Motor Co. president Harold A. Allen (center) and Mr. Dempsey's manager, Leonard Sacks, on September 10, 1931, at the Union Station, 1717 Pacific Avenue. A new Studebaker President eight brougham, courtesy of Allen Motors, is ready for Mr. Dempsey, per his request. The boxer customarily drove a Studebaker at home and asked to be transported in one while in Tacoma.

  6. Rickenbackers on display. On September 12, 1924, a fleet of five Rickenbacker automobiles are photographed lined up alongside an unidentified street. Their drivers are casually posed next to them. Each vehicle has a "Defender" sign on the front windshield. September 12th was declared "Defenders' Day, " a legal holiday, by Governor Louis F. Hart. The date had been set aside nationally for citizens' response to national defense.
