  1. thanks JOHND1956. Someone mentioned to me that there is a rubber seal that goes along that A pillar from the top of that flipper down. now mine does not have that ,so I might try to put that in there but I will try your suggestions also cause its driving me crazy. That's the funny thing, everything is tight and snug and there's no air coming inside from the vent window so like I said maybe the rubber has to be changed out.
  2. 60FLatTOP I know what your saying but hearing that wind whistling through the vent windows is driving me nuts.lol ! like I said before going to change the rubber out and hopefully that does the trick.its gotta be that because there is no wind coming into the car from the vent windows. its just that whistling sound.
  3. thanks BEEMON I'll give it a try like you said. hopefully it works.
  4. yes pacKick it drives me crazy. I'm going to try to change the rubber in those vent windows and see if anything changes but like you said right now there is no air coming through so hopefully when I change the rubber it will quiet down. I'll keep you informed on what happens.
  5. anyone experience when front vent windows closed you can still hear the wind blowing ? my front vent windows, when there closed I still hear the wind blowing. the rubber is still pretty good and has a tight seal, but I still hear the wind blowing. problem is I don't feel any wind coming into the car, I just hear it. anyone experience this and possibly know how stop the sound of the wind ? thinking about maybe changing the vent window rubber anyway. any other idea's ?
  6. does anyone know where exactly does the auxiliary door seal goes on a 55 buick century 2 dr hardtop ? anyone have a pic or diagram ? they tell me it goes from cowl to top of door hinge. a little confused here on that, and also is there a post seal that goes from top of windshield down along the post also ? any help appreciated. also if anyone is looking for nice buick parts check on buick selling. its under 2921tcomp.
  7. does anyone out there have a pic or diagram of exactly where the auxiliary door seal goes on a 55 buick 2dr century ? they say it goes from the cowl to the upper door hinge. a little confused here. also is there a seal that runs down from the top of windshield along the post ?
  8. sorry to get back to you late bluebeard but I don't always check the post's on here. yes it has the odometer on it also.

  11. no problem just trying to put it out there if somebody needs them. gotta clean out the garage before spring. also I have 4 original Kelsey Hayes spoke rims for 54 and 55. I don't know if my son listed them. I had them all cleaned up and powder coated to as close as I could get to chrome color. I know there on eBay if you want to check them out. hope all is well.

  14. yes mr bruce unfortunately the slippery slopes !! lol !
  15. YES NTX5467 CRANK HAS TO BE REDONE I'M GUESSING FROM NORMAL WEAR AND THAT THE CAR SAT FOR AWHILE AND CONDENSATION GOT IN THERE AND RUSTED IT A BIT AND THAT ITS WORN UNEVEN THAT THE ROPE DOES NOT HAVE A TIGHT FIT TO SEAL IT. SO ENOUGH OF MY PROCRASTINATING I GOTTA RE-DO THE CRANK.
  16. EMTEE your not the first guy that told me that lol !! I just hate leaks. constantly putting cardboard under the car and always checking my oil level starts to get annoying. unfortunately the cranks gotta be redone and hopefully no more leak.
  17. smartin I used a original rope seal the first time, then the neoprene seal and now tried a graph-tite rope seal and they all did not work. like I said I'm gonna have to pull the motor to get to the crankshaft. just wish it can be done from underneath without pulling the engine out.
  18. thanks old tank and emtee I will do that for the time being run it a little low in oil until I arrange a schedule to pull the engine. thanks.
  19. yes demco32 thought maybe I could by a little time but I guess I'm just going to have to make some time very soon to re-do the crankshaft and fix this leak once and for all.
  20. NTX5467 RIGHT NOW I USE 20-50 OIL AND IT LEAKS BAD AFTER I TAKE IT FOR A RUN. MAYBE ILL TRY THE 10-40 FIRST AND SEE IF IT SLOWS DOWN JUST TILL I GET SOME TIME TO PULL ENGINE OUT AND GET IT DONE RIGHT. THANKS.
  21. so far I replaced rear main seal on my 55 century twice , no luck stopping the leak. so now we realized its time to pull the engine and replace the crankshaft due to pitting and some rust that we tried to sand off but the shaft is worn in some area's and its uneven preventing the rope seal from making a tight fit. soooo my question is, has anybody used a product called BLUE DEVIL REAR MAIN SEALER ? of what I read about it, supposedly it stops or slows down the leak. thinking about trying it till I have time to pull motor and take out crankshaft to be re-done. anybody use it before ? thanks guys.
  22. sorry knut most of the stuff I have is exterior like a nice front bumper with the dagmars, have some nice side front fender spears, a horn ring, have a working sonomatic radio, and some other side moldings and some stuff I haven't got to yet but I will let you know exactly what I have then.
  23. thank you Knut for the information and the tranny company in New Jersey. never heard of them but I'll give them a shout. thanks again I appreciate it. also its not the rear end that was leaking its the rear main oil seal. going to try another rope seal in it today.
