Well done Neil. Trailblazer…I knew you’d prevail.

Not sure you want to pressurize the jacket in that direction, pushing crud the wrong way, back up into the block. There must be a clever way to reverse flush that passage, but what do I know…good luck Neil, we all know you’ll figure it out, then we can, again, benefit from your experience.

My pleasure Grant, us ‘41 coupe owners have to stick together…

Being a regular motorcycle rider, I’m used to constantly assessing the environment around me. I have the same attitude when driving my old cars. Been incident free so far..

That’s 2 votes for a ignition/electrical issue. Sounds like timing to me, Vacuum advance?

My ‘41 has blue/grey Bedford cloth, would a picture of that help?

Hi Greg,
You’re welcome! (I think)…

Knocked it loose today, as easy as Matt said. Thanks for all the good info.

Yea, I was thinking it was a damn good thing I wasn’t able to get it in gear as I wouldn’t have been able to get it out of gear before crashing into my garage wall! I’ll give myself plenty of room should I suddenly take off. And chocking the wheels is a good idea, thanks MT.

That’s a relief. Thanks Matt

After sitting for a few weeks I now find I can’t get her in gear, as if the clutch is non-existent. Pumped the clutch pedal several times and nothing but severe grinding when I try to engage. Tried starting it with it in gear and pedal depressed, but it just lurches forward as if there is no clutch. Any ideas? Thanks boys.

No I have to take responsibility for it. The seller sent pictures but obviously they weren’t revealing. I rolled the dice and lost. Thanks for the concern, no big deal, I’ve moved on…

Thanks, I’ve read lots about the different patterns and tints. Speaking with Bill Anderson (noted ‘41 expert), he was digging deep into this and I thought close to making some conclusions but I haven’t heard anything yet.

Just to be clear, I don’t think the panels I bought were done by Doug. His work is stellar from what I hear.
-
Grant, how are you going about getting the engine-turned dash panels? I recently got burned buying what were advertised as Doug Seybold panels but they were pretty bad. Had dents and the panels were chromed which is wrong. So I’m keeping my pretty good old ones starting over…won’t make that mistake again.

Agree. It’s a Roadmaster Sport Coupe like mine.

Great progress, Neil. Would you be so kind as to outline the valve adjustment procedure you used when hot? Did you do it with the engine running or off?
I’ve read doing it with the engine running is best, but you need to be an octopus to pull it off. Alternative is to thoroughly warm it up, shut it down and adjust fast enough before the valves cool and contract.
Thanks Neil, as always, you’re a big help.
