  1. Great job Neil. Question: will your method of painting work on a latch that is already installed or do you have to take it off? I worry about the paint not leveling properly with the part upright and not lying flat.
thanks for the info- wish I had a fairy godmachinist.

  2. Matt’s right and Neil knows this. The wheel is very flexible. These cars are not easy to get in and out of and I found myself grabbing the wheel to assist. Had to adjust my procedures so as to not crack the wheel anymore than it already is.

  3. The lever is not an engineering masterpiece. It is awkward to engage and if the lever ends up on the wrong side of the fender, it will scratch the hell out of your paint as the previous owner of my car discovered. The cover hides any damage but I’m going to have to repair scratches if I go without covers. So just be real careful installing these things.

  4. Got the easy one on (glove box) and painted the backside with a Rustoleum satin finish (saddle tan I think). Came out alright and pretty darn close to Neil’s and Dave’s color above.  The gauge side dash panel in my car is actually very nice so I may leave it even though it’s not an exact match with the new glove box panel. I’ll change it out when something breaks and I have to get into the dash. 4EBEBDA1-0769-41A8-954D-E19E879ECC51.thumb.jpeg.7fd0359644dbab62897da263c8331f7c.jpeg

  5. Interesting. Conceiled behind my skirts are holes in the fender for the spears. I always assumed that they lined up with/for the spears on my skirts but now I'll have to check (and measure) them. Are yours 21 or 24? Thanks Neil.
