If you look at underhood pictures of full size 1962 Buick and Chevrolet cars for sale on the internet, the hood hinges are completely different.
-
1955 & 1956 DeSoto front bumpers are the same. Chrysler bumpers are different.

Whatever you do, make getting a clear title in your name a priority before starting work on the car. That goes for ANY car in ANY state!

A 1953 Special would have a straight 8.
-
Are you suggesting that this light green 4-door sedan pictured is a 1953 Buick Special? I don't think so.........looks like a 1952 Super to me.

Jack M is correct. Not a lot of aftermarket bolt-in support for 1955 Plymouths. Anything is possible though with a lot of time, money, skill and effort. The easiest thing to do would be to rebuild your original engine or replace it with another flathead 6 from a 1955 or 1956 Dodge or Plymouth. With a 1956 engine you will have to address the usual 6 to 12 volt electrical conversion stuff. I wish you well in whatever you decide to do.

Pictures and serial number on the green Wayfarer roadster pictured suggest that this is a 1949 D-29 model and not a 1950. I wonder if they have a title for it?

Hood hinges for full size 1961-1962 Chevrolets are different part numbers than 1961-1962 Buicks as well.
-
Not the same, 1961 and 1962 full-size car hood hinges have different part numbers.

About a year ago on these forums a Mr. Wauhop with a rust-free 1955 Packard 400 in the Philadelphia area was looking for someone that would repaint his car at a reasonable price. This led to some very lively forum discussions that I enjoyed reading. He found a shop that quoted him $6000 to do the job. The results were never posted, I would love to see a follow-up with some pictures. What kind of a job did he get and most of all was he happy with the results? Mr. Wauhop if you are reading this could you kindly fill us in?

1949 Buick I believe.

That trim piece on the rear side of the front fender came from a 1959 Chrysler Windsor, mounts on the outside of the car next to the taillight.
-
49 will not work, you need a radiator from a 1942-1948 Chrysler or DeSoto six.

Doesn't look like a quick simple operation, a detailed procedure can be found in the Pontiac Shop Manual or a period Motor's repair manual.

Water pump might be 1950's Cadillac. Casting number? Small block Chevrolet intake, I'm comparing yours to Ebay listings. If that pump casting number is 1469500 similar pumps on Ebay say 1958 Cadillac.

In south central PA, they're as plentiful as ever. Old fashioned Victor mouse traps are still at work.

The 1955 Oldsmobile VIN number is located inside the driver's door pillar on a rectangular plate just below the upper door hinge. The engine number can be seen on top of the block on the driver's side between the first two cylinders from the front of the engine, look just above the exhaust manifold. The numbers on your car are not going to match. 1950's Oldsmobiles are not numbers-matching cars from the factory!

I like this red & white Holiday Coupe, looks like a nice car at a fair price. There was a turquoise & white 55 for sale last winter in RI in the same price range. I liked that one as well but I think it got sold on Ebay.

Horn ring pictured is for a 1950 Crestliner. 1951 Crestliner horn ring was similar but had a red background.

Price IS a tad high, I've seen better 55 Holiday Coupes sell for less, I'd like it more with a detailed trunk and engine compartment and the correct size battery. It does however look like a pretty solid car, might have a rebuilt Hydramatic as clean as it looks. Pictures of the headliner & engine air cleaner would also help. Seats are an incorrect green material and it looks to me like the body color is more green than turquoise as it also has green plastic window cranks. 4th from last picture is a shot of the RR tire taken from underneath the rear bumper, looks as it should and intact to me. Just my 2 cents, all this could be corrected but with a starting bid of $18,500 I'd keep looking.
Please ID year, make and model

i'm going with a 1942 Dodge (base model) with that short upper side fender moulding. If you look closely, there's also a short wrap-around moulding on the bottom front of the fender about level with the top of the hubcap that 1946's didn't have. Also the bumper guards in 1942 were larger and higher, the tops were almost level with the bottom of the headlight. 1946 Dodges had a rear fender moulding above the wheelwell and I don't see one on the car in question. I'm guessing here, I wish there was a better picture
