That plastic speaker grill shot- priceless!😂
The famous mopar speaker. Try and find a replacement for it.  For fun I tried to find one for my 63 Dodge 880. I have gotten a "hot rod" bug as of late and have narrowed it down to a couple cars. This being one and the other a 62 Chrysler. The shape of the glass and the rear ends just speak to me

It could be worse. You could have 10 gallons of gas sitting just ahead and over your lap as in the Model A Ford.😱🙂

It really does sound like a push rod is striking a loose rocker arm.Â
-
It almost sounds like at increased RPM, lifter clearence increases and a push rod is smacking into a rocker arm. Like a semi collapsed lifter is intermintent. wierd sound. The sound almost has a hollowness to it.  Have you tried an engine stethoscope ? I would be pulling each plug and using a micro camera to look and see in the cylinders.

Rebuildable is fine. Mine if the car sits for 2 weeks without a start will no longer push fuel up to the carb. So I would like another as a spare.Â

I can only imagine the expense to change out the front and rear windshiels. Talk about bending glass

I didn't see 85K in it but guessing times have changed from 8 years ago. Was tempted to toss 36K at it and boy was I wrong

only 2 pedals so not an M6. Â

I had the opposite problem when the carb vac switch would not disengage the starter after going to 12 volt for adding AC. It had something to do with one of the "safeties" that worked with the generator when it was 6 volt that would cut out from the factory set up.  I do have a NOS carb vac switch for a 49 here that I decided not to use when I just by-passed it with a bump switch.

With AAA and 3 days of going over I would drive it to Texas. Just check out the above mentioned, maybe a couple spare brake hoses, carb rebuild kit, thermostat, oil, points, condensor, ice cube juice, water pump, belt, and head out. Add an inline gas filter just for kicks. Maybe an electric fuel pump in reserve just in case. Of course some more modern radials just to get home. Easy car to repair in a parking lot

On a very clean car. I like it for some reason.

Have a Chrysler Royal with a sticky starter. Having issues finding another for a spare while I rebuild the other. What other year starter will fit ? The one that is in there now looks to be the transistion from foot switch to push button and needs a good cleaning and going over as it will not actuate unless manually done with a screwdriver where it will then spin freely for a week

following. I had like problems with my 49 and it ended up being that carb vac switch which I bypassed with a push button start switch instead of the gas pedal.

wonder if that carb heat shield is a FL modification

No such thing as a small block, big block Pontiac. Like said above, all the same block size. Most will say the 557 block is weak but built right it will run just fine. Would not want to make a high hp drag motor out of one though.
was thinking this might have been a Chevrolet 400. When did they begin going in firebirds?

Those people are everywhere. They have a saturday cars and coffee thing here in my little town but don't show up with anything but a hot rod. They will actually ask you to move down to the end of the parking area. Of course I won't. When I feel like being a prick I get there really early and park in the prime spot they have "reserved" for themselves week after week and bring one of the original paint 50's mopars with me.

Love the glass. Bet these things pancaked in a roll over.

looks like a 400 to me. I didn't like the later SB 400's as the engine casting was so "hollow" inside compared to 350's.

If it is a complete car with all the odd ball trim intact it would be a good find for someone looking to rebuild this particular model. Guessing was short run in it's day. How was this wood attached to the body of these cars? Wood looks like the varnish peeled off so might just need reworked. The older the wood the better it is to work with and more stable. Whenever I am doing projects for people like doors, new trim, ect I go to lumber and home salvage yards. I would rather buy a 150 year old door and dismantle it prior to refinishing then buy a new door. Some of the lumber in those old doors was 400+ years old when they cut it down to start with going by grain patterns.

fall? I would be happy with mid 80's right now. That is 3 months away from North Texas. I have to take the puppers out at 6am for our drives
