  1. I have a downshift switch from a 1964 Riviera.  It was part of the box of parts that I received with my vehicle purchase.  I have no need for it, so I'd like to pay it forward.  The switch works, but the wire harness is not attached.  If anyone would like it, you can have it for shipping cost.  The red boot is worn out on the opposite side.

  2. I completely understand.  Unfortunately I have lots of work before this car is drive-able.  I still have to reinstall the wire for the downshift, which broke off.  Then see how it runs down to the trans.

If when you have a moment, would you mind taking a pic of your installation, so I can use it as a reference?

  3. Well since my trans control switch is not hooked up, and I wasn't sure how it worked, I decided to take mine apart.

It seems to be a real simple sliding switch.  I had a lot of old grease and crud on the connections, so I cleaned with brake clean and then used scotchbrite pad to clean all contacts.  Put some dielectric grease on and closed up.

It really helped me understand how the switch works.  It seems that switch pitch engages well before downshift does, and stays engaged after downshift is dis-engaged.

There's one piece that I forgot to photograph.  There is a metal base with a ramp at the end, which sits down inside the case.  The plastic housing sits on that, with the end of the rod, and roller underneath.  The little spring sits in the hole, with the tri-point contact piece on top.

  4. I can tell that a few Lincoln MarkVIII's were converted.  I don't particularly care for them, as the "A" pillars don't look like they are reinforced any.  If you roll over, the windshield is going to collapse.  If you look underneath, you will be amazed at the amount of square box tubing used to reinforce the chassis.  Scary stuff.

  5. Referencing the 65, what condition is the rear bumper in?   Does it still have the idle stator switch and kickdown switch, including wiring down to the trans?  Does it have a power antenna?  If so, what condition is the fitting which sits on top of the fender?  What condition is the air cleaner in? How about the carb?  Is it a 3921s?

  6. Ok, so just run the front brake line from prop valve to original distribution block and block off rear port.  Then run rear line from prop valve to a new union with rear line.

What about the rear axle line?  Do you just cut and re-flare with new tube nut for disk brake application?  Do any of the brake line manufacturers make a rear axle line specific for disk brakes?

  7. For anyone who has a dual channel M/C, what parts and pieces did you use to connect the front and rear lines to the Prop Valve?

Also, for those who have converted to rear disk, did you order a new axle line for disk brakes or did you reflare the stock line?

  8. I have a trunk lock which is missing the cover, but I am also missing the key.  Is this the same key that opens the glove box?  Also, which direction of the glove box lock, indicates locked?  Vertical or horizontal?  Is there a way to open the glove box with out a key, and without damaging it?
