I painted these for a bloke not long ago. They actually look very similar to yours.
Not sure if they were dodge or Chrysler. I think it was a 34.
sorry I gave you a bit of a bum steer saying they were DA. I was completely wrong there. -
They look like DA wire wheels

Good job with the carby Matt. Hopefully she'll run smoother !!
Thanks Ian
We actually took her for a nice long drive on Sunday, Father’s Day and it went just beautiful. I haven’t had much time to drive it lately but it was so nice having it out. Can’t wait for some warmer weather. The carbi has made a big difference pulling up long hills. Before it would hold speed now it will pull up the hill and increase speed. Could also be that the engine is run in a bit more too.

With your work ethic and skill set Matt, you will have the house and shed ready to go in a matter of weeks. Setting up from new is so much better organised than having grown and accumulated over some years.
Thanks Nige. Yes I totally agree it will be so nice to set everything up where it needs to be. Having the extra room is also a huge plus. The shed is partitioned off in one bay so that will be all the sanding and painting area. Keeps the mess out of the rest of the shed.

No new projects yet Doug sadly. I’m still knee deep in renovating the house and after that I have to move the shed and set it up. So still a mountain of work to get done. I’ll be using these guys as much as I can to support small local businesses.

So our new place that we bought is about 15 minutes out of town and on a bit of a dirt road. We bought in the middle of some farming land and on our road is a farm supplies. Kinda in the middle of nowhere, so yesterday I had to grab some screws so I thought I’d see if he had what I needed. Well bugger me dead he has every screw any of us will ever need, he’s been there for 53 years and I reckon some of the screws have been there that long. He’s got every slot head screw you can imagine. In steel, brass, stainless steel. Metal thread, pan head wood screws, counter sunk metal thread. I wanted to grab them all and take them home. So if there’s a size you guys are looking for let me know and I can have a look for you and post them. The shop is only 150m down the road from me. I can see myself being there every second day for something. What a little gold mine.

I’m sure it will be all good Ronny that’s pretty bloody exciting mate. I bet you can’t wait to be allowed to drive it on the road legally.

Wrapped the hood bows with calico
Fitted the VINTAGE plate as well-

The bearings have probably collapsed. I wouldn’t drive it like that. Or the impeller has come off the end of the shaft.

We’ll done, perseverance has paid of. It’s nice to hear them running after working on them so hard.

Ronny’s update. She looks like she’ll be ready for the DB rally in WA mate.
Done the right side today by myself Very challenging with one arm
A real challenge putting this one on across the topic the dash and down to the floor
Well the wife is not going to be happy I have been sacked by Holden's Body Building because it took me 6 hours to put the Hidem Bindem on this door Only having one useful arm was not an excuse.
They called me back in to finish the job.

Some pics of what the one armed bandit has been up to. It’s looking great Ron.
Plugged away this arvo and fitted the top piece of leather to the top of the front seat Started fitting the HidemBindem I can't get over the difference it makes

We settle on our new property today so the next few months will be pretty busy for us. We have a bit of renovating to do and then move my workshop and set it all back up. So working on the old girls will take a step back for a little bit.

Damn, how long was I asleep...
Glasurit clear laquer 923-35?
That makes sense now. So your recoat was every hour or so I presume? Less with high temps of course
I thought you may have used varnish. Was thinking that can't be because of the brutal turnaround time for recoat.
Very nice job.Sounds like you're all having a blast working on it. It really is cool how much fun these old cars (and trucks) create.
Love the Ute, can't wait to see the final product.I generally do 3 wet on wet coats and leave it dry for a couple of days and then on the final coat I like to leave it for about 2 weeks before I put just 2 wet on wet coats at about 30% reducer.
I’ve just done my wife’s new kitchen tops in it. They have come up pretty nice to. We got them in European oak. Which looks pretty much the same as American oak.-
