I'll pull off the road when being followed by these German cars, then catch up to them and follow them with my Made in the USA HIGH BEAMS on there rear bumper.
I used to have a car with a photochromic mirror that would automatically darken when the SOB behind me wouldn't dim his lights. That was a pretty slick feature. My truck has the old-fashioned mirror where I have to turn the switch to tilt the glass. Damn, that's work! 🤣 Sadly, neither kind help with the side mirrors.

A fellow celebrated his divorce by buying himself a Porsche. One day, he was exceeding the speed limit with a trooper in pursuit. When he hit 100 mph, he decided he better stop before he got in even more trouble. The trooper asked why he didn't stop earlier as he was wanted only for speeding. "Well, my wife ran off with a cop and I was afraid you were bringing her back!"

The (insert marque to be ridiculed) has a magnetized rear axle...to pick up the parts that fall off!

MAN!! A luddite gripe session if I ever heard one! When's the next meeting? I'll drop by.
Luddites opposed technology because it made their jobs obsolete and put them out of work. In this thread, "hidebound" might be more appropriate. 🤣
Even my 17-year-old truck has features I don't need or use, but I suppose someone does. And newer vehicles have even more stuff that may or may not be useful. I embrace technology but to quote Ian Malcolm, "Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."

The only thing your left leg had to do in a car with an automatic, hit the dimmer switch on the floor.
Well due to a long-standing disability, my right foot can work the accelerator but moving it to the brake is difficult. So I use my left for that. Yeah, not the safest but it works and I haven't killed anybody yet. 😁
Actually, the stalk dimmer is better for me. There occasionally was need to hit the foot dimmer and the brake at the same time (yeah, the brake always won!)

I had the same problem with '94 GMC Safari van, because of that interlock switch malfunction, but it happened at the inspection booth while crossing the border from Canada to USA.
My problem was "operator malfunction." 🤣 Since then, I've owned other vehicles with the interlock and haven't had any trouble with it. Course now I'm in the habit of stepping on the brake without even thinking about it.

I bought a new 1993 Mercury with automatic transmission, not "modern" now but it was then. The first time I tried to drive it after getting it home, the gearshift would not move out of park. Rather upset, I called the salesman. He said, "Did you remember to step on the brake?" It was the first car I owned that had the interlock. 🤣

LOL. Tools. Never have enough Tools. I could fill a book with the tools I have, or have at my Dispersal. Some odd ones I either don't remember, or don't know what they are even. An old picture of one of my work benches years ago. It is one of the first photos I posted. I have found though life that a place with a clean workbench usually does not get much done.
I dunno, my Dad's workbench looked like that and I always spent more time looking for tools than working. Anyway, course you know the guy who dies with the most tools wins. 🤣

I'm no T expert so I'll leave the picking to those who are. But it's a cool car, cooler that you bought it for your wife, and coolest that she wants to learn to run and maintain it. My wife isn't much into cars but she's a good sport about my addiction (although she did grumble about having to scrape ice off her windshield because the garage was full of my junk 😁).
Oh, and I like the tool box.

Yeah, I'm also thinking fender braces.

It depends on the car. I prefer skirts, as opposed to no skirts, if they look good on the car. And they look best on late-30s to early-60s. The worst look I've seen was skirts on a Model A. 😬
Umm, no...
A car needs to be streamlined for skirts to work - the A is too tall, short and boxy.

In England a piece of hard candy is referred to as a "sweet" , a friend there who is also a pre war car type guy told me on my last visit that "modern cars look like half sucked sweets"
Yeah, but they don't know that:
a bonnet is a woman's hat,
a boot is a man's shoe,
and a dickie is...well, not a seat! 🤣

Our first Model A. It sat for years without a top and was home to various critters, the worst of which was a nest of bumble bees in the seat - they chased me, stung my Dad and took multiple cans of Raid to get rid of. Oh, and not interior, but the guy's kids had packed the radiator full of mud.

I spent my career in middle management (so named because the middle was exactly where I was, squeezed between labor and higher administration 🤣). The management style I found most effective was hiring good people, letting them know I was available if needed, pointing them in the right direction, and letting them go at it. I'd check once in a while just to make sure they hadn't gotten off the rails, but no heavy-handed micromanagement.

IMHO, side mounts don't look right on cars outside a narrow time period, say 1925 - 1935 (and that may be stretching it). And they look out of proportion on most "one-seaters" (coupes, roadsters, etc). I can take or leave them on sedans, although they do look classy on bigger cars especially if they have covers. They don't look good on trucks but other than under-bed (which is a PITA), there's no other choice.
Whitewalls depend on the car but if they're used on antique cars, they have to be wide.

When I first became involved with the hobby and really into old cars, I loved the looks of the 6 wheel Model A Roadster (Dual side mounts)
Then, Leslie R, Henry, (Author of many books on the Restoration of Model A & T Fords, plus he was Curator of the Henry Ford Museum) became a winter member of our Florida Model A Club, told us the Ford Motor Company never made the Model A with dual side mounted spare tires & wheels.
I guess you could get a dealer to do it, but it was not a factory option.
As a 1934 Ford lover for 50 years, I know some 34 Fords had a side a mount or two, but it was U L G Y !.
But it should be noted Ford did make some Model A body styles with a single side mount - the Deluxe Roadster, Deluxe Phaeton, Convertible Sedan, a bunch of commercials and maybe some others. The side mount was on the left side - I'm not sure but right side (instead of left) may have been a factory option on commercials.

Well, I'll answer the opposite question - this convertible looks better with the top up. The fixed window frames spoil the top-down look.

Yup, the back seat or lack thereof makes all the difference.

Cleaning up the shop and looking to ID this hood release mechanism. Thanks in advance
I had a 71 Cutlass with a hood lock like that - it was an extra cost option. Probably the same on other GM makes and years. The knob is plastic and was positioned such that it was easy to hit with a knee getting in/out of the car - I finally broke mine off that way. Replaced it with a piece cut out of thin steel plate - solved that problem!

Bumpers were accessories in the 1920’s with many being supplied by outside companies that you could choose when the car was new. As an example here is a Weed bumper purchased for a 1925 Chevrolet
Off-topic but I'd guess the Dunlop tire and tube were for the spare? That was extra cost on some cars, especially the lower-priced ones.

...I am not one to call for help if I think I do the job myself, so I would hate to be stranded and wait for someone to show up...
Yeah, I hate not being able to do everything I used to - welcome to old age! 😡 But I guess it beats the alternative. Anyway, an advantage of being retired is usually not having to be anyplace at a certain time, so I don't have to be in a hurry to get there. I don't drive much beyond local anymore and I keep my ride well maintained (including the tires on the ground) to at least minimize the potential for breakdowns. Sometimes a kindly passerby will stop to help the pathetic old geezer stranded beside the road. And yes, I realize not all passersby are kindly - without going into details, I'll just say I'm prepared for that as well.
