Yeah my 72 is 118 & 3/4 And most of the literature that I have seen has stated otherwiseÂ

So you can remove crown wheel and pinion through the back. Obviously you have to remove the axles etc for this to be achieved but you can not remove the whole assembly as one piece through the back you have to split the uni behind the gear box and drop the torque tube remove brake rods etc as well then you can remove the torque crown wheel pinion assembly.Â
If it were mine I would probably just remove axles then crown wheel so I could get at the offending parts. Then find a good prop shaft and put the pinion and bearings on it then reset backlash etc.
Have you got a workshop manual or just a owner hand book. The workshop manual is really comprehensive and helpful for this process. -
I would say more likely then not the tail shaft has broken at the pinion. I had this happen to me once and there was next to no noise when it let go, it’s a fairly common problem. There is 3 grub screws on the diff housing that hold the tail shaft in place. Hope this helps if you need more info let me know.

I have 65 and 75 Hub caps, some new, some used.Â
The Packard, Franklin, and 29/Chrysler wire wheel brake drums will interchange but the inspection tab is in a different location.

Hi Ben. The brake drums and hubs are different to the wooden spoke ones too. I've been looking for wire wheels for 40 years!
Ha yeah I’m a born optimist Bill I would also need another couple of hub caps gotta have dreams.Â

That’s exactly what I was thinking but it’s definitely a 75. Local body/custom body or just an anomaly who knows and I’m guessing I will never know for sure not that it really matters as it only good for parts but I’m always interested to learn more.Â

Hole on the side of the cowl, maybe where it had a cowl light?
Yeah that’s what I was thinking but just not the standard cowl light that I see on most cars. Which then has me scratching my head was the a special order/ custom body unfortunately the Fedco badge has long since gone either rusted off or has been levered off mind you I think probably rusted off. Looks like it was bolted on not riveted/welded on. Some have told me this was done on local bodied car but then I was told no series 75’s were bodied locally and I guess I’m still sitting on the fence as far as this goes as I have not seen any hard evidence to indicate either way  but Happy to be convinced either way

That’s really useful info as on my 75 I will need to carry out some similar repairs. Thanks for sharingÂ

Hi All,
In case there is any lingering interest....
I have finished putting the horn button/steering control cluster back together--see before and after images.
From info supplied by Vintageben and Sasha39, I reshaped what is sometimes called an 'axel cap' to lock the not-quite-correct horn button to the light control lever--see attached image.
I got reproduction light control and spark levers from Jay Astheimer.
Also, I had pretty good luck restoring the busted bakelite bits using a Minwax wood filler product and stain.
Thanks again for all the help.
Jack 'Gasket'
Great stuff did you have to form the missing piece or just reattached them.Â

Hole on side of cowl may have been for sidemount hardware?
Yeah that was my initial thoughts as well but the one remains of a mudguard shows no signs of the spare being mounted there so it still has me scratching my head.Â

Okay so I’m in the process of dismantling a 29 Chrysler 75 chassis for parts etc. and I have found a few interesting things. Â
first observation is that is had been an open type car and possibly had been made into a ute at some stage. My reasoning for this is that it has an open car type cowl and also these brackets at the back of the chassis for either a luggage rack or maybe support for a ute tray
ÂAnother thing I noticed on the cowl were some holes near where the cowl lamps would be attached. These looked like the may have been made for conduits for the cowl light wiring unlike all other 75’s I have seen but I have seen a few 65’s in Australia with the style of cowl light.Â
Â
Now with the cowl out of the road I see that the brake master cylinder is also different to any of my other 75’s so I guess this must have been changed out at some stage.Â
Â
Any thoughts on what this might be out of?Â
ÂAnyway I will see what else I discover along the way and see if any of you have thoughts/observations on this car. By the way the car is located in Australia. ThanksÂ

Yeah not too sure about the 75 series cars I know my 65 sedan has this tag on the front left floor area but there is no cowl Badge on this car.

Basically what Ralf is saying is that the car looks good from the outside but it’s sounds like wiring, gauges, upholstery and floor needs replacing/work done and he would like some photos of those areas if people could share some. Â

Just wondering what type of ignition switch you are using? Is it the key in the midle of the light switch or something different ? A photo may helpÂ

1929 Chrysler 75 Coupe rear window
in Chrysler Products - General
Posted
So I have acquired myself another Chrysler 75 this time a Coupe, it needs bit of work 🙄 should I say a lot of work. One question I have is about the back window that could be wound down to talk to the passengers in the dickie seat. Does anyone have the dimensions of this window as I don’t have much to go on. Thanks in advance.Â
