  1. I just changed both wheel bearing hubs on the '97 Riviera L67 I've been tooling around in the past 176k miles - what a dream of a car, esp. on hwy 130 where the posted speed limit is 85 !! That car slices through the wind. So, I couldn't help but notice the ABS leads on the Riviera and wonder, when the leads go bad on my Reatta, why not get some that were made for the Riv ?? I mean, its the same GM division of engineers. Just splice in a weather connector on the Reatta near the sensor. Admittedly, I haven't investigated it further, on the Reatta I only looked to where the lead goes through the fenderwell, and couldn't see where it comes out on the other side. But, its got to be up-gradeable. I need to go look and see the bolt pattern on the Reatta's hub bearing, that'd be cool if I could use a different hub bearing on the Reatta than stock. Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree, I don't know
  2. Yep, when I start it, the trunk pops open, also, door locks first lock, then unlock. Its identical to what these folks describe here: http://www.chargerforumz.com/archive/index.php/t-150659.html
  3. Wow. Price is $3.85 and free shipping. Thanks for the idea
  4. I don't have a cellphone, but it sure is tempting....
  5. I feel like I'm living high on the hog, having the 16 way seats that are soooo comfortable, and... the CD player option also. Too bad the CD player gives an error message though. I saw what the fellow did in the link below, that might just work, but I think I'm going to ponder it a bit first. http://www.adrianandgenese.com/blogger/2009/01/27/how-to-make-a-cd-lens-cleaner-for-your-dvdcd-player
  6. Thanks Barney, will do ! When I come by, I'll want to be driving the Reat, to show you how nice she is now. but its wet out there and I haven't yet taken care of the ABS sensor lead that had all its rubber fall off when I changed the strut a couple weeks back. Hey, here's a pretty good read I just found: http://www.reattadriver.com/reattastory.html
  7. I recently picked up a second 1990 model, am pulling some parts from it. If you have a 90 and might be needing something, just ask. I can't guarantee I have everything you need, but it doesn't hurt to ask
  8. Thanks for that. The bladder pump motor works but no inflation is happening. I found a tiny black hose near the rear that's apparently disconnected from somewhere, but wasn't in the mood to fix it just yet, I was sweating bullets just to get the seats in, and the donor car back to its hiding place before my wife returned !! Success on that
  9. I wonder..... the carpet in the donor car is faded and has some dirty spots, but is that something that can be removed as a whole and taken to a dry cleaners or whatever, or are those factory rug stocks typically too brittle after 27 years ?? If it could be removed and cleaned and dyed, that would make the interior mint. Then I could take the carpet out of mine and do the same to it for someone else to also have a "new" carpet. I saw reference to a high-end place near Detroit, but if the original carpet can be cleaned and redyed, that seems the best way to go since its a "drop-in"
  10. This week, I changed the trans filter and put a new pan on it that has a drain provision. Also, picked up a donor 90 model from just up the road in Belton here, how lucky is that ? It had the elusive ALDL cover, so I put that in, as well as the frame brace that goes over the air cleaner. And.............today I took the 16 way seats from the donor car and put them into mine. Incredibly, my seats were sooo bad but these are nice. Yet, the body and paint on mine is like new whereas the donor car's exterior is crap. Go figure. Also, one of my rims is marred pretty badly as in the pic below, so I'll get a replacement rim off the donor for that. Lastly, I went into the underseat wiresplices last night and uncrimped the one with six black wires on each side of the crimp. How to crimp those back together ?? I used two battery connectors as in the pic below, I twisted the ends of the six wires together, stuck them in the hole and held it verticallly and heated, and filled that sucker up to the brim with solder, then bolted the two connectors together through the hole and finally just black taped the ____ out of it. There was a lot of undercoating in there, the car was orig from New Jersey but apparently well kept because there's not a spot of rust or corrosion anywhere. Those 16 way seats are awesome, that thigh support makes it really comfortable to drive. Hey RedSlate, you might be right, I only did that one splice but the trunk solenoid seems to have quit clicking on its own.
  11. Blimey was just a *sigh*. I have too many vehicles burning up my time right now !! Most are for sale but people are mostly in debt and don't have $$ so they send lowball internet offers, ugh. The good splice I took apart was the one with six black wires on each side. I just wound them all up together and soldered each side into a copper cable connector, bolted it together and wrapped the _____ out of it with electrical tape. I'll keep my windows up and avoid low water crossings during rainy weather.
  12. Or a re-education of "if it ain't broke don't fix it" !! I just burned 2 hours fixing a splice that wasn't bad. I'm just putting the seats back in, if things fail, the seat comes out easily enough. I may not be around in 25 years.
  13. Blimey, this is another fine mess I've gotten myself into !
  14. I pulled the seats out of my favorite Reatta. On passenger's side, had to use an impact tool to loosen the phillips head screws that hold the seat-mount nut cover pieces. Maybe that indicates water got in there. Saw some rust also. Driver's side much better, no need for impact tool and no rust visible on any nuts or studs. I saw your photos above about the location of the passenger side wire splices, is it the same location on the driver's side ? Thanks !!
  15. Thanks Barney. Well, that covers the cost of the car with a dinner to spare. Now I have seats that move in more ways than I can !!
  16. Its fairly oxidized, but the internals are there, good engine, display, teves, sensor leads, headlight switch, modules, 16 way seats, etc. The dude even drove it to me, lol. to bad the windshield is busted. I have a jeweler's wheel and some rouge, I bet if I chuck it into a drill I could make the rims look new.
  17. OK, its official, I now own a second Reatta, picked up this 90 !! Shh, don't tell my wife, this one's a stripper I can't help but wonder, what was the factor option price for 16-way seats ? .
  18. I like that old Groucho Marx quote, about "I'd never be in any club that would have me as a member"
  19. I'm just wondering what transmission is in that thing !! If it was a factory SC, that would seem to imply that the Hydra-matic division was holding something back from production ?? !! Remember, the 93 model year Cutlasses with the 3.4L had to have the engine de-tuned b/c the 4t60 could only reliably handle 215 ft lbs of Tq !!
  20. Thanks, I was thinking along similar lines. The headlight switch is worth about 100, a spare accumulator isn't a bad thing to have, ABS wheel sensor leads, AC parts, various module boxes, airbag, horn buttons, doorskins, window motors, switches, etc. I bet I can get it for 700
  21. Haha, yes. But lest we overlook it.... mediocre minds also think alike !! The car I looked at is a 90 by a private seller, its pretty oxidized on paint, bumpers, rims, tail light assembly, carpet is sun bleached. Wwindshield is cracked, bummer. Bad head gasket, display not working. But, the 16 way seats .... I want them. I offered $200, I hope I get them, they're the right color
  22. I know you want me to re-do my splices !! I would do it, except I've done a lot of repairs this year, and I"m afraid that car repair will work itself into becoming a habit !! So, I must restrain myself, so I don't have to call the addiction hotline again !! Seriouisly though, it would make sense to do them if I do a seat swap. Then again, I don't want to rip the rug out, ugh. How about I just slice the carpet with a kinfe, a neat incision, right above where the splices are ? Crazy maybe, but who would see it ? I could always sew a zipper in there !!
  23. I found a Reatta like mine, a 90 model at a junkyard. It has 16 way seats. If I want to put those into my Reatta, is it just a drop-in ? Or is there some electrical circuitry work also needed ? Thank you
  24. Kick-A !!! That's the coolest Reatta I ever saw !!
  25. At least you aint proud about it https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs+6%3A16-19&version=KJV
