  5. Good morning, Thank you for the information you sent me. As matter of interest the one you had & said it is broken does it still have the bulb & threaded connection attached if so would you be willing to part with it. I have an outfit that could fit the bulb assbly on to my old one. The gauge face etc I have now is in perfect condition. Let me know . Regards Bruce Watson
  6. I am looking for a temp gauge for my 47 Chrysler. I would look at either a working one or one in good shape with bulb attached that may not be in working condition, which I could have repaired. Bruce Watson tralee@telus.net 604 943 7867
  7. Rusty, Once again thank you for your input & information---- I have had mostly vintage GM cars in the past & wasn't familiar with the TRUNNION & where it fit into. Regards Bruce
  8. Bob, Thank you very much for your detailed reply that clears up what has actually been replaced , Regards Bruce Watson
  9. After going thru the repair bills from the previous owner I noticed a sizeable invoice for replacing the upper & lower trunion? Would this be the same as upper & lower control arms on the front end or? Thank you in advance for any info on the Trunion. Bruce Watson
  10. Rusty, Thank you for your reply, That item with the cap on it makes sense, now I know what its for. I don't see any other water flow valve or shut off but it isn't a big project to install a shut off valve. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't going to interrupt the cooling system flow. I appreciate your help, Bruce Watson
  11. After owning this car for a short time I am getting use to the semi auto transmission! My questions at this time is in reference to the under dash heater. I see that (I assume) that the heater hose coming from the water pump is the supply hose & the one returning to the block just behind No. 6 Spark plug is the return hose.?? Like most old cars the heater has hot water circulation all year around. If I put a 90 deg valve coming out of the block & had it shut off during the warm months does this have any affect on the cooling system? My next question there is round headed style cap that is in line on one of the heater hoses but I don't think its a shut off valve, would this be a tee with a cap on it for some purpose? Your comments would be appreciated. Bruce Watson
  12. Thank you for your replies I appreciate the info. As a matter of interest would an electric fuel pump resolve the problem on the long cranking? Regards Bruce Watson
  13. I recently purchased this 47 Club coupe. The car runs very well & I have replaced plugs, plug wires& distributor cap. When the car sits for 3 or 4 days or longer it takes some time to get it started again. It will always start but it turns over approx. 15 times before it catches. I haven't installed a electric fuel pump yet but after only 3 or 4 days I would think it would fire up a lot quicker. Would this be a carb problem or? Bruce Watson
  14. Rusty, Thank you for your advice, you are correct, it doesn't appear that the lock itself is worth saving. Bruce
  15. I have just purchased a 1947 Chrysler Windsor & a few things have to be fixed. One of the items is the trunk handle lock. The manual shows how to take the lock cylinder out which is straight forward except either the lock is broken or I don't have the correct key. The instructions are to turn the key clockwise until plunger can be depressed. If I can't turn the key is there any other way of getting the cylinder out so I can replace it with a new one?? I would appreciate any help I can get , thank you Bruce Watson tralee@telus.net
