We should be thankful for the T'bird because without it, we may never have had a Riviera. I am fond of some years of T'bird but the Riviera is my preference.

If the steering wheel is original, it is an early production car.

I fell in love with the Riviera from day one. I bought my first (1964) when I was a senior in high school in 1972 for $750.00. It was diplomat blue with a white custom vinyl interior and turbines. I kept that car for 24 years!
In total, I have had two 1964’s, three 1965’s, a 1969 and a 1997.
I was at car show in the early 80’s and a guy was making pins with you and your car. I couldn’t resist!

This is a vacuum formed armrest and a proper repair is very difficult if not impossible to do it right. You can send it out to “Just Dashes” or a similar company but it is expensive. If you really want a factory correct look, it is your only option.

The clear lights behind the nacelle on a 64 remain illuminated with the headlights but turn off when high beams are turned on. The amber lights turn off when the headlights turn on.

I believe it was much later (late '90's) when the parking lights stayed on with the headlights, and it was not a universal change by all makes and models.
I recently became aware of inexpensive wiring kits that take the load off the headlight switch. They are available for both 2 and 4 headlight cars.
They add a relay for the high and low beam. the headlight switch just triggers the relay. You must run a hot wire to the relay and there is a ground lug to attach,
the new harness plugs into the headlights and the OEM headlight plug connects to a connector on the new harness, no cutting of the original wiring.
Parking lights remained on with the headlights beginning with the 1968 model year. The feds had this feature added along with side marker lights the same year.

In later years, GM had the same feature for the exterior door locks.

Not sure about France but 6 would be the norm.

max balchowsky's 65 sold for $65k a few momths ago on BAT and just resold for $91 at Mecum
It bid to $65,500 on BaT but didn’t meet reserve/sell. Looks like the seller made a wise choice with Mecum.

Bargain city for someone if it drives out okay. Even at this price you could still put some money into it and come out ahead.
Nice options on this car too. What is the unit beneath the air filter snorkel? I has a Buick emblem on it.

The second generation Olds Aurora wheels look pretty good on this car.

If it spent its life in Massachusetts and was used year round, I would definitely scrutinize the undercarriage particularly the subframe mounting areas. These are known areas for rust issues and are not an easy fix.
This may be the reason it is being flipped so fast but it could be a good car as well.- 1

Not a common color but a decent find. The only obvious item to note is the antenna looks like it may need attention which is not unusual.

I totally agree with you Jason!

Maybe look at Eldorado...?
I think you are correct EmTee. I believe the 67-70 ElDorado had a cardboard box that was kept at the base of the spare.

1969 will also fit.

Most of the the transverse mufflers that I have had over the years had a small hole drilled in the sides. The problem was that the hole sat about an eighth of an inch above the bottom of the muffler. As a result, water from condensation would still accumulate in the bottom of the muffler. You know what happens next.

Happy holidays Ed. The white custom interior (vinyl only) was a mid production option. I believe the standard white interior was available from the get go.
-
Just as an FYI, in addition to the ribbed rocker panel moldings being included with the custom interior option, they were also available as a stand alone option on cars with the standard interior.

Pat, so in strict Buick 65 Riviera options the turbine was not an option? I’m all in with what is.
‘However, the 65 Riviera wheel is made with the 4 holes for the turbine to be mounted. Of course, it would not be the first time an automotive part would accept another part, but was not meant to be by marketing standards. Another item is the word STANDARD option was used in the original post. By comparison one post asked what was the standard tire size for the 1963 Riviera. My answer was 7.10 15. Another knowledgeable person chimed in with the 6” tire was also standard. So, it does take much to confuse me. Still having fun confused or not. Hope all is well with you and yours.

The turbines were not an option in 1965 after a two year run but they would sure look good on one!! Hope all is well in your home as well Bob!

I see, so the STANDARD cover for the Riviera and the GS were different (because of the spinners). In addition, both the regular Riv. and the GS could then be ungraded with the other wire wheel, or the chrome road wheel, correct?
Correct!

The Riviera came standard with a full wheel cover. The GS used the same wheel cover but had a spinner attached to it. The options were a wire wheel cover and the chrome wheel.
