1.

I took off my exhaust manifold to replace it and noticed a flap that restricts the exhaust. What purpose does that have ? Seems to me it would be better if there was free flow for the exhaust. Would it hurt anything if i cut that flap out of there?

5. So, i finally get my car running and take it out on the road after it sitting for 3 years. I get back home and there is A lot of oil coming from between the trans and the engine under the car. I was thinking rear main seal or oil pan . Do i have to pull engine to do a rear main seal? Maybe i should just take it to a shop and let them do it on account of me never doing one before. Is there any type of 'stop leak ' for oil? Thanks

 10. I just took off my rear bumper to get it re-chromed and there is only one center piece. I thought there was a top and bottom. It seems someone has welled the two pcs together. Is this how it is supposed to be or should i cut the welds out and have 2 pcs? The car was backed into a wall by the previous owner and the dents need to be pulled . thanks

 14. Lew, Are the shifters (when in neutral ) supposed to have any play or zero play ? Forward and back not side to side. I took all my carpet out and the shifter is in the open. Can all the work be done from the top or do i have to get under the car? I looked under the car and it seems the trans would be in the way if i was to do anything under there. Bob
 15. Thanks again, is there a way to tell when my car was made by the vin number? Or how can i tell. I found where the trans dip stick bracket goes in the manual , there just happened to be a picture of the starter and there it was attached to the starter bolt. The clamps on my soft top one works the other is not looking the same and it does not work.
 16. Are the side soft top clamps the same on the 56 and 57?
 17. I just drained my trans and putting it back together and i can't seem to see where the bracket on the trans dipstick attaches .it wasn't attached before so i can't figure it out. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
