  1. I've got the wiper motor out and repaired but the wiper tower has me stumped. I want to get them off to send to the plater but they don't want to let go. Is there a clip or something holding them on that I'm missing? The drawing doesn't show anything. Thanks
  2. I'm in the Knoxville, TN area (east tenn.).
  3. Very neat indeed. I had no idea that a inductive type of gauge would/could be used this early. I will check the calibration of this meter as I will check all. A meter that doesn't read correctly is of no use to me. Instrumentation and engineering were my bag before I retired. This is a really neat car, but the component design of some of the systems are head-scratchers.
  4. I have the gauge cluster out off the dash looking for problems. The ammeter is somewhat odd as it just has a clip holding the large gauge generator wire. Is this an inductive type meter? If not, or better yet, how does it work? Thanks.
  5. Does anyone know where I might source a replacement VIN tag for a '38 Zephyr coupe? I can get it embossed or stamped here but need the 'blank'. Thanks
  6. Just finished email to C2C. Have my fingers crossed hoping they can help. Thanks all.
  7. I'm trying to get to know this very different V12 motor. Looking at the points, coils, distributor area. My "Motor's auto repair manual" says that the distributor needs to be pulled and placed in a 'distributor test fixture' to synchronize the points. I don't think I've got one of those in my somewhat well equipped garage. There must be a 'shade tree' setup to get this task completed. Does anyone know what it is and be willing to share it. Thanks
  8. No joy on the floor pans so far. The c2c phone goes to mailbox. On Paul Bradley's number the person on the other end said I had the wrong number, my phone said I didn't. Anyway, two years wait is way to long. The search goes on.....and on....
  9. I need to replace the floor panels in my '38 Zephyr. Does anyone know where I can find replacement panels or do I have to fab my own. Thanks
  10. Thanks peecher. Next question...where is the data plate located on the firewall? There is a plate located on the passenger side about half way down. It is completely covered with a repaint and feels smooth (not embossed). Could this be it? Thanks
  11. Have taken delivery of the '38 Zephyr. Have started looking around the car to see what needs to be done. I can't find an oil dip stick anywhere! There is just behind the carb on the driver side a strange tab with a rod reaching into the motor. The tab says 'full' and 'fill'. Can this be a odd form of a dip stick? If so, is it read with the motor running or not? Thanks
  12. Thanks to all. Now I can get it off the transport and into the garage.
  13. I have the series numbers reversed. I purchased a 720 3-window coupe. I can't believe what people are asking for the 720 but that's OK, I'll be doing the same someday. Thanks for the reply and stay tuned as this lincoln is new to me and I know I'll have a ton of questions. As a matter of fact, I'll ask one now...What's the shift pattern? I would assume it's the H pattern. But, with the shifter shaft coming out of the side of the vertical console (how weird is that) is the H parallel to the ground like others or something else? Where is reverse? Thanks
  14. I am in the process of purchasing a 1938 Zephyr coupe. The appraiser said it is a 700 series vs. a 720 series. Can anyone tell me the difference between the two and which might have more value, if any? He also said that only around 800 units of the 700 series were built in 1938 , can that be? I have been a pre WWII Packard person for the last few years but have gotten to greatly admire the sleek looks of the '36 through '39 three window coupes. So I gotta have one. Thanks.
