  1. Pennzoil sign has been sold to a member of this forum. Good deals on auto literature and catalogs. Terry
  2. Having a garage sale at my home this coming Saturday, September 21 from 8AM to 1PM. Location is 692 Sue Drive in Lititz PA 17543. Selling old PA license plates 1917-70, 10' Pennzoil sign, auto repair and sales literature, auto parts catalogs, and a few Snap-on collectables. Can PM exact location and more details if needed. (Dog is not for sale!) Note: this is not a public sale, just selling stuff at my house. Thanks, Terry Boyer
  3. An old Dodge is a good car and well built as Chrysler was a leader in automotive engineering. The down side of old Chryslers is the limited parts availability compared to Ford and Chevy. You have to look harder for parts than for the other two. That being said I still owned two old Chrysler products and enjoyed them a lot. Terry
  4. That was a great place. I visited several times as the mother of one of my friends worked there and she would get us free passes to it. That was back in 1968-70. His mother also got him a 1970 Plymouth Duster 340, orange with black top, 4 speed and rear spoiler for his high school graduation present. I always thought he had the best mom in the world!! Terry
  5. I had a 37 Dodge 1/2 ton truck at one time so I can help you here. Yes, there is a separate PA truck tag for 1937. I had a set of them for my truck. The truck tags have a letter at the start of the number sequence to show the load rating for the truck. R is 1/2 ton, S is 3/4 ton and so forth. Most 1937 PA tags with good original paint is hard to find. The type of paint used by PA did not hold up well over time. I had a beautiful set of tags that sold with the truck, something I now regret doing! Good luck on your search. Terry

  7. The Lancaster newspaper got it right today when they called it a Model A. Too bad someone ruined this man's dream of owning this car. Terry

  14. As the father of a 20 year old son who grew up around my cars and motorcycles, I believe there are several reasons for lack of youth involvement. One is the decline in working on mechanical stuff by the general population. Most people no longer have tools or even an interest in fixing anything. Many of my son's friends would come to my house to fix or make things as I had the tools and a place to work on projects. Most said they were lucky to have a few hammers and screwdrivers in their home toolbox. They were surprised to lean that there was both SAE and metric in the fastener world. Another thing I see is the lack of cars that are exciting to own or restore. Most younger people like import cars and a few like pickup trucks for projects. I don't see too many youth that are impressed by 1950's to 1970's cars of any kind. Rather they look for Japanese and Euro cars like VWs to modify. Pickup trucks also offered a chance to personalize as many aftermarket parts exist for them. My son thinks the best car for him to "restore" some day is an older BMW. Finally, even those who show some interest in autos are more impressed with electronic devices and the "apps" they can get for them. Just hang out in an Apple store or Best Buy and see where the youth are. Now go to your local Sears tool center and see how many young people you see there. Most times its just me and a few others about my age (61) hanging out in the automotive tool area. I predict the next generation of restorers will be working on a much more international mix of cars than we old Detroit iron lovers could have ever imagined. Their numbers will be small but their passion for what they are doing will be strong. Terry

  18. There was a Buick dealership not too far from the funeral home so the number of Buicks mentioned here makes sense. And I agree that the lead car is not a Packard as I first thought. Thanks for all your comments, Terry
