  1. I need to cut some spring steel to hold door handles and locks to a 1930's car . I called a local supplier he said it comes in 6 inch widths . With thicknesses from .010 to .062 . What is the best method to cut curves and slots in the material ? Mini grinder with a cut off wheel or a plasma torch ? Thanks , Mark

  2. Does anyone have a good independent person to move an antique car in pieces . The car is located in South Carolina and has to go to Toronto , Canada . Or stop at the border in Niagara Falls , New York and transfer the car and parts to my trailer to across the border . I have lost contact with the car hauler I was communicating with . Does anyone know a good staging area to transfer the cars from trailer to trailer ? Or just pick a WalMart parking lot ? Thanks , Mark

  3. Antti , This fellow might be able to help you . He is mentioned here quite often . Look under Commercial Advertisements on the first page where it shows items for sale , technical advice , etc . I had a 1926 Reo with the same carburetor . Mark

  4. Thanks for posting the photo John . My friend says the car is in pieces it has a Victoria body and a hood with 5 vents on it . He is not sure what model of Reo it could be . He is wondering if the radiator shell could be off another Reo model due to previous damage . He also wonders if he is looking at a Reo Royale Victoria 8 -35 ? Due to the Victoria body or did other Reo's use this body also . Thanks , Mark

  5. Does anyone have any more information on this subject ? Where to get a sketch on how it works ? Is it even worth repairing or just run the coat hanger as was suggested . This is for vertical louvres . I looked at a 1931 Dykes and a Audels 1938 -1945 but could not see any details . Mark

  6. Ray I have never installed a door on a car . But I have installed doors on a construction site . Try working at first with the top and bottom hinges and leave the middle hinge loose . Try not chewing all the wood up with all the hinge screws try installing the minimal so the door does not fall or move while you are trying to align the door . See if that helps with your alignment . Another trick is and it works if you are trying to line up the doors or get more clearance on the jambs . Get a piece of cardboard from a cereal box or tissue box .Cut a small strip the distance from the screws to the recess in the wood jamb . What you are trying to do is make the hinge able to tilt on one side [ exterior side ] or tilt it on the [ interior side ]. Right now the hinge is laying flat on the jamb . If the card board is required to pull the door left or right in the opening , move the card board strip from side to side . You might need a few strips on 1 side . I do not know if I have explained this correctly or not . Mark

  7. Could some one explain how many years back does an Audels Automobile Guide go . I have a 1931 Reo . Would a 1938 Audels printing cover a 1931 car ? Or do you have to go to a few years past 1931 say 1935 to get coverage ? I can purchase a 1938 Audels , but can not get an Audels any closer to to 1931 . Thanks , Mark
