  1. I also need one for my 1928 dictator. Where are they being reproduced?
  2. hi, Our family bought a 1928 dictator almost identical to this one. The engine was a GE. We had problems with the engine. It had rusted through near the valve springs internally. I had the opportunity to buy another GE engine and it had the same problems. I would pull the valve cover off the side of the engine and check for any signs of rust up near wear the valve springs sit. You will need a small mirror and a good light to see up there! The casting seems to be very thin there. We are still chasing a good GE engine.
  3. I have tried the email for the GE engine for sale. It doesn't recognise it. Are there any other way of getting in touch with this guy
  4. Thanks to everyone for there advise/help. I think we have successfully worked out a way of getting the engine home
  5. It is located in East Northport. It is just the engine. Don't know how the freight company charges as I have not found one that will pick the engine up without being crated.
  6. IN AN EARLIER POST I REQUESTED HELP WITH A 1928 STUDEBAKER DICTATOR ENGINE. I HAVE BEEN SUCCESFUL IN FINDING ONE. BUT I HAVE A SMALL PROBLEM. I LIVE IN AUSTRALIA AND THE ENGINE IS LOCATED IN LONG ISLAND NEW YORK. THE OWNER OF THE ENGINE IS UNABLE TO CRATE THE ENGINE OR DELIVER TO A FREIGHT DEPOT. IF SOMEBODY OUT THERE CAN ASSIST ME IN SOME WAY IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FIND COURIERS THAT WILL PICK THE ENGINE UP FROM HIS PLACE BUT NOBODY THAT WILL CRATE IT. THEY WONT PICK UP A LOOSE ENGINE. I HAVE GOT A CONTACT IN RAY MINNESOTA THAT WOULD CRATE THE ENGINE AND SHIP TO ME, MY PROBLEM IS GETTING IT TO HIM. IS THERE SOMEBODY THERE THAT WOULD BE INTERESTED IN CRATING IT AND GETTING IT TO A FREIGHT COMPANY? I WOULD PAY FOR YOUR TIME. PLEASE HELP, REGARDS DAMIEN
  7. I have 1928 dictator but the engine block is rusted out. I am looking at buying the engine on this thread. The block itself looks the same despite some differences with mounting auxiliary's. Will this GL block fit my GE? I have to frieghtt it t Australia so I need to be reasonably sure. Thanks. Damien
  8. What about a 29 dictator? There is a guy on long island with an engine for sale. The pictures look the same as mine. I don't want to go to all the cost of shipping it here though and there is some small difference, but it looks identical to me.
  9. Hi I think the Erskines were different. Could you send me some photo's? I hope I am wrong. Let me know and I will give you my email address. I am near wagga. Newcastle is no problem if the block is good.
  10. Hi, I would be interested, but by the time I get it to Aus it could be quite expensive. How negotiable are you? Also can you email me some pictures? My email is da.harper@bigpond.com Do you know how to ship things this large to other countries? I will do some home work. Regards Damien.
  11. Hi, 2 years ago we bought a stude that was supposed to be a goer. We got it home and we found water in the oil. So we found another block, I was pulling it down tonight to rebuild it and it has the same problem only worse. They seem to be very thin in the walls. These two blocks are rusted through where the valve springs sit up in the cavity. Can somebody please help. I would prefer a good engine then some type of repair method. I am located in Australia so would prefer one here, but I am desperate so I am open to any help!
  12. Hi, I am from Australia and currently restoring a 1928 GE dictator. I am going to have the springs reset and need any technical information for doing this. Can somebody please help? The car is a four door sedan, 5 seater. I am also after the shock absorbers for this car. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Damien
  13. Hi, I am from Australia and currently restoring a 1928 Studebaker dictator. I need to have the front springs reset and I need to know the specifications for these. Can somebody help! Thanks in advance. Damien
  14. Can anybody in Australia help me with a 1928 studebaker dictator or director engine? I have just bought a car that was supposed to be restored but have found that the engine block is badley rusted inside. It has hole's the size of a bean between the water and sump. I have blocked these enough to run the engine but it is now over heating due to bad blockages in the block. Please somebody help before i lose my momentum.
