the coil from 1926 has condenser built in, if you replace it with modern coil you have to get condenser also. I would watch ebay one will pop up or try buy sell at this site. a modern alternative is one from early 50's 6 volt.

my big six gets 4-6 lbs when cold upon start and 1-2 lbs when hot. There is a conversation about cleaning the engine by including some kerosene in the oil see manual. some say non detergent some say detergent. I am told the non detergent keeps the engine cooler. an old time chevy guy very knowledgeable person told me the pump moves the oil and pressure is not as big an issue as today. he said 1 lb was ok. the pump has to circulate the oil. sometimes the gauges do not read so well, I had a 27 chevy gauge showing very little pressure got another gauge and had pressure.
on the side of the block lower front the is a plug that you can remove and blow out the oil passages.

my generator commutator housing does not look so nice on exposed end. The generator does not charge and I went to adjust the third brush and noted the condition of the housing end. I am thinking its pot metal, did not take it apart tried to adjust brush but quickly became nervous and put the band cover back on not wanting to break anything. Anyone got a nice 917 E Remy generator? Is there a source of commutator housing aftermarket????

Thank you for your comments, they are primers for those moments when you need to prime the engine.

Mine was red all the way up, tapped on spare many times got a blister but mostly went back down, stopped going down about 1/4 inch from no red cold. Seems to be working now probably if I beat on spare for a while would go away totally. Found solution here via AACA search.

1923 Clutch and neat oil

I have read some looked at some info and understand the clutch face is leather? Maintenance includes applying the neat oil. My clutch works great and is the best clutch I have ever operated in cars from the 20's. When does one do this?
Comments appreciated.
